Joe’s Pizza

The Tasty ladies loves their Pizza and have their favorite pizza joints here in «Da Bronx», even gave one an award, but we are always open to try a different one.
We have been hearing some buzz about a place that is not new but we have never been called Joe’s Pizza at 3009 Middletown Road.
This was an «in home evaluation» of a few different types of pizza, chicken parm calzone, and lentil soup.
The presentation was nice! Vibrant colors, perfect looking crusts, etc. but I hate to say, this Tasty Lady was not impressed with the texture or taste of each type of pizza.
Let’s get started! On all the pizzas, the crust was to floury, hard, dry, not crunchy and not synged just right. And the sauce was at best mediocre, very bland! I had to add a lot of seasoning to each type.
On the sausage and buffalo chicken the meat was a little well done making it very chewy. So between the hard crust and chewy meat, it was a workout for my jaw that I did not enjoy!
We also ordered a slice of grandmas, Margherita, Sicilian and a regular slice that were also just Ok.
Now you all know I’m a huge fan of my legumes! I love lentil soup especially! But this one had an odd after taste! I did not even finish it! Plus the pasta that was used was regular ziti, I like a smaller variety pasta usually to not over power my little lentils! Plus, there was a orangey-​oily residue on the sides and cover, why?
From the Unilocal reviews I was hoping for much, much better, maybe we came on an off night? Sorry Joe, but in a neighborhood of amazing Pizza venues, you rank low on our Pizza Meter!

GREAT Sicilian pies. Highly recommend. Very cheesy and saucy, quality materials. Breading isn’t heavy and isn’t light. Perfect. I always buy this from here. Regular cheese pies, not so much. Thin and cardboard-​y; but always okay customer service, and also great beverage choices.

Such great pizza! With all the different styles it’s so hard to pick your favorite.
Today I finally tried there penne vodka and it was delicious!

Favorite pizza in The Bronx. I’ve ordered from them for years. Their potato onion pizza is my absolute favorite… their Sicilian is second. Crunchy crispy crust, the sauce is delicious. My go to pizza place!

Pizza is ok. Doesn’t accept credit cards unless you order $ 10. I seldom go here because of this.

I love the taste of the pizza at joe’s my favorite is bbq chicken. Is very small place with 5 tables but for fast food is perfect.

I come here a lot. Their plain slices taste good, given they are fresh. I love their caprese slices, drunken sicilians are awesome too. It’s vodka sauce with smoked mozzarella. Yum. My absolute favorite is their buffalo chicken slices sooo good along with a cream soda. My mouth is watering as I type this review lol.

I think it’s the best pizza place in our neighborhood:) once delivery guy brought us pizza with no toppings… (everything was on the side) but we got a free pizza next time and still it’s the only pizza place in Pelham Bay we order from.

I am a pizza snob especially for New York slices. My parents have been telling me about this place for awhile and I finally had a taste this past Sunday after the Breast Cancer Walk at Orchard Beach. I am happy I did! Usually I prefer a nice crisp reheated slice but their fresh pies were far better. Great work, guys!

As a rule very good pizza, standard service. Delivery is spotty, sometimes great, sometimes not. Just got a pizza, waited 1.5 hours and it was old, stale and lukewarm. I’ve gotten their fresh made pies delivered & pick-​up in the past, and this was just terrible. Cheese matted, crust crunched. So disappointed. I’m conflicted over stars because as I said at the beginning, as a rule Joe’s Pizza is one of two of the local best.

They have the best specialty slices omg! Buffalo slice artichoke slice salad slice. Love to get a bunch cut them up and share with friends!!!

So this is NYC and there’s as many pizza places as Starbucks. The reason why joes pizza stands out is cuz of the phenomenal sauce! I had a grandma slice and a marinara. Absolutely delicious! If you are a fan of tomato and garlic, its on point.
Also had a bite of my friends buffalo chicken pizza. Delicious, except the celery!!! Celery is evil…

Buffalo chicken pizza. There’s no reason to get anything else. Great local NYC pizzeria. Cheap and by the slice to boot.

I couldn’t tell you how the regular pizza at Joe’s is, because I only go there for one thing — the buffalo chicken pizza. My other favorite pizza place, Loretta’s, has amazing buffalo chicken pizza. But this one? Takes the cake. Or the pie, if you will.
