In the best way: it is the only legit dive bar on the island. It is where the rest of the island comes to unwind after their shifts, and that says something. As does having the only pool table around.
Give the bartenders lip and they’ll double down on you.
Real people, real place.
Plus, agree with others: food is where it’s at (so long as you are getting Mexican or burgers; can’t comment on anything else: burritos are bomb)

Great food! It’s kind of a dive but with lots of cool factor. I love city island. Always have. Went with my girlfriend because of a few friends who live on the island. It wasn’t packed. The wings were awesome and lots of beer to choose from. Will come back again!

Average dive bar on the main drag. Cheap beers, strong cocktails and a mixed crowd. Only complaint was enough with the heavy rap and hip hop — not one of us was ethnic nor under 35! Lol. All in all a nice place to pull up a stool and pound a few back.

Best thing about this bar is the pool table. Tough to get in on it, but It’s a nice table, with plenty of room to play. Great owner, really nice fellow. Bartenders are nice as well. One of them gave me a free drink after I ordered 3. Not enough room, not enough pool tables, but hey, It’s City Island, What else is there?
