I tried to go to this location last week and it’s closed down. I am so bummed I heard good things about this place.

Never going back. The server was nice and the food was decent, but the music was so damn LOUD… on a Sunday at 6 pm mind you. It’s not like it was 11pm or something. I’ve been to bars and lounges before, the music was never this distractingly loud. We asked the server to tell the di to turn it down. The DJ turned it down for 5 minutes and put it back BLASTING. My family and I could barely talk cuz we couldn’t even hear each other. Freaking ridiculous.

I went to escape for my birthday nothing to fancy just some dinner and maybe two drinks with my two children and my fiancé. Dinner was actually pretty good and the drinks were also good. During dinner in runs in a guy that was being chased by a group of men. There was no security at the door, no one there to stop them. They began throwing chairs and tables. the guys were tossing bottles and glasses from the bar. I literally had to hide under a table and wait for this to come to an end. it was horrific!!! this is all happening while there are people in there having dinner. When I called today to let the manager know I spoke to Maria who seemed unfazed by what i was telling her. i will NEVER go back to this ghetto place. enter at your own risk!! HORRIBLE

I never take the time to write negative comments about anything, but unfortunately I had the worst experience at this restaurant/lounge. My best friend and I decided we wanted to have a drink and agreed on escape, since it is in her neighborhood. Escape? more like Mistake. I’ve been to this place a few times before, for two birthdays, for lunch, for dinner, and again last night(March 5, 2016) for a drink or two. From the door I felt unwelcomed. The security was rude, and hostile. I checked in my coat and kept my little jacket, because I get cold very quickly, as I waited for my friend to check her coat in the security came charging toward me and said«You should have left that jacket in there too» so I explained to him why I didnt. And he told me «I don’t give a fuck why you didn’t leave it in there, when there’s rules there’s fucking rules!» I was so thrown off by the response and attitude I received from a staff member from a hospitality business. Then he went on with little comments, «You ain’t the one who gonna hear everyone bitching that you got a jacket in there when I made them leave their’s «a bunch of other small comments that I didn’t catch because I tend to lose interest in conversation that are negative and his whole vibe was wack. His face looked as if someone stole his income tax money, like if you don’t wanna deal with people why are you a security guard, it’s a business where you have to do so. He definitely needs to find a job he enjoys, because that’s not cutting it for him, very miserable! He also didn’t forget to mention that I shouldn’t be talking back to him before he let’s me in, because«it isn’t the smartest thing to do» like excuse me? I didn’t just walk in to a 5 star restaurant sweetie, it’s never that serious, with the amount of restaurants and bars in the Bronx I’m sure any other business will be happy to have my money. In addition to their disgusting security guard, their clueless bartender takes my order after me standing staring at her for about 10mins(and she wasn’t even busy) finally I tell her what I would like and gave her my debit card to keep my tab open and she takes the card goes to the end of the bar to stand, and then she shifts my off to the next bartender who she couldn’t even tell him what I ordered so he came back to ask me what I wanted. She had to be training because she looked completely lost behind that bar. Finally we got our drinks and we were off to the side, trying to enjoy the music and drinks when all I feel is a big push as I hit the wall I look to my left and I see the security rushing past me. I didn’t say anything I just observed what he was doing. He made it past two people and turned right back around and went to the door as if he was never actually rushing toward anything he just wanted to push past my friend and I. No big deal I told myself. I decided I wanted another drink so I made my way to the bar and when I look back to my best friend, she’s pinned on the wall and some drunk guy was all in her face, so close to her that he should have just been a piece of clothing. She continued to tell him to give her space and eventually they had a heated discussion, which was when I made it back to her. I told him to relax and I pulled her off to the side. He followed us to keep screaming at her, and we were literally like next to the door and the security just pretended for those few mins that his purpose of payroll at this establishment is not to ensure security for guest. Eventually the drunk moron walks away and turns back to throw liquor at my friend’s hair, it was all over her and me as well. Still no security guard assistance. I felt in danger at this point so we decided to wrap it up. Overall the music is okay, and the service is horrible. Although Earnesto was the bartender who ended up taking care of us, and he wasnt that bad, atleast he attempted to smile and pretend he didnt hate when it gets busy. I do work in the industry of hospitality, and I also go to school for hospitality management, so I DONOT appreciate spending my hard own money on places that shouldn’t even be operating, places that dont care enough to form a good staff. Its a freak show for all the Mosholu residents. That was most definitely the last time I go there and I won’t forget to tell all my friends, family, coworkers, and classmates about this experience so that I can save them the trouble if they even ever considered going there.

I usually go here when my kid is attending her Saturday classes and have a few drinks. Yes, instead of staying in a crowded ass hallway waiting for my kid to become a gymnast/ballerina/cook, I treat myself to Escape. I usually order the tostones topped with chicken, ah-maz-ing! The drinks are great too, a wonderful spot smacked in the middle of a shopping district. As a family, me, the hubby and kid eat here for dinner often. They don’t disappoint.

Was a cool place to go and drink, dance and eat but I noticed last night a 18% service fee. That’s a lot for shit service. I had to beg for drinks and my food. And after hours was packed. You can’t even stand at the table and smoke or drink because ppl are pushing. The crowd has changed so much to. Oh and the sign that says no dancing?!? Isn’t that the point of going out to a lounge? A shame because it use to be a favorite place t

I really like the place! Didn’t stop by earlier, but I should have a long time ago! Atmosphere: Very nice and classy. Good ambience! Service: Food came pretty fast and they were attentive! Food and drinks: There’s a bar in the restaurant where you can order from or you can just order right from the table especially when they have good deals. For some reason, they have practically a special everyday!(Not that I mind…) Food on menu was pretty expensive but that’s why these wonderful people offer specials which are a lot more generous on your wallet! The food was pretty delicious too!

The ropa viera was delicious. The sangria was tasty. The coconut mojito whisked me back to a vacation I had in Puerto Rico. Hookah is served. I don’t smoke but it did not bother me in the least as it was unobtrusive. We’d come back! (Side note… mandatory gratuity on a bill… personally, I would of tipped more had they not forced me to tip. I instantly refuse to tip anything more if they add it automatically.)

Went here with my friends for a nice night out and was pleasantly surprised by the nice ambiance and the music was great. I was seated promptly and attended to while waiting for my friends to arrive. When they did, we were told the specials and informed about the happy hour drinks. I ordered the Ropa Vieja which, according to the menu, comes with rice and maduros. I requested that the rice be substituted with vegetables. The waitress assured me this was no problem. Imagine my surprise when my dish comes out without the maduros. I called this to the waitress’ attention and she informed me that if a substitution is made the kitchen will only provide one side dish. The explanation was convoluted at best and this kind of policy should have been stated before my order arrived so that I could make a different decision. This mistake necessitated me ordering a $ 4 side of maduros, which should have already come with the meal. The Ropa Vieja wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. I ordered a mojito from their happy hour special which was very good. The night continued. We noticed that there was hookah set up for other customers. I know that the place does this but it’s not my thing and was annoying. We enjoyed the music and ate our meals until the bill came. We were shocked to see that automatic gratuities had been added to our bills over and above a normal %15 gratuity for a party of 3! My gratuity was about %20 of my bill! We informed the waitress who told us that any bill over a hundred dollars has automatic gratuity added to it and that there was nothing she could do about it because it was automatically done by the computer. Not buying this, we requested separate checks and found that the automatic gratuity was STILL included for each check. We asked to speak to the manager, who took about 15 minutes to arrive at our table despite being just a few feet away. When he finally came over to speak to us he gave us the same line about the computer automatically adding gratuity and added in something about how ordering a number of drinks makes the gratuity higher. My friends had two drinks each and I had one, so there wasn’t an abundance of alcohol flowing at our table. In the end and after much talking on our part, he agreed to remove the automatic gratuities but when our revised checks came to the table, we saw that that only occurred for two of the checks, leaving one friend with the same automatic gratuity. We again addressed this with the manager and finally had all our automatic gratuities removed but not before a very heated exchange. But it never should have come to that in the first place. My friends and I live in the neighborhood and were excited to support a local business. We had even talked about coming back before we got our bills and we would have been more than happy to leave good tips. The automatic gratuity left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not be back.

I so love this place. The vibe, the music, the food oohhhh and the drinks!!! I been here a couple of times and bring more people every time. The Bartenders and manager are great down to earth people. The brunch is good the mimosa are true mimosa(and by that I mean not weak). The last time I came with a few people and everyone was pleased with their order. From the calamari and empanadas as starters to the tilapia, salmon and burgers was all on point. Churasco was pretty good just not the best.

If JC is bartending you got nothing to worry about. Hands down the bartender in the Bronx. He’s there Monday, Wednesday and Sunday’s. They have other great bartendars too. Most days/nights theres a nice atmosphere(definitely a latin/urban vibe). It can get a bit packed on Fri/Sat nights. The food doesn’t disappoint either. I recommend the churrasco steak with the mashed potatoes. But try it all(except the chicken wings).

Came here on a date night with my boyfriend on a Wednesday. It’s a very nice place, especially for the Bronx — however, while the food was good, it was overpriced. The music was good and so was the hookah. It was nice to do for a one time thing but I definitely won’t be back.

This place is just a block from my apartment. Is like the only place that plays music and shows the boxing fights. I Also order a few dishes and I have to say I did love them. The chef was setting at the bar having a beer and when I order he was like if you are hungry I cook for you and he got up and cook a very delicious dinner even when the kitchen was close. totally worth the money. Good recommendation overall.

While there was a minor mishap with our drinks. Our manager(Tatiana) was very amazing and accommodating. Overall very good service with amazing service from management. And while we had reservations on coming back, Tatiana erased them and we are planning on making the trip back up here a regular thing! Props to great management who saved this review from being a very horrible one. Drinks were potent. We decided to stick with the rum punch specialty, which sealed the deal. Definitely a place to come back to.

This place is so bomb I really don’t even want to write this review because I’d like it to stay a secret gem. However, they deserve the business so write I shall. Pros: Delicious food– I had almost every attitude appetizer and they were seasoned to perfection and well cooked. They have a plethora or Latin inspired dishes and tasty seafood options. Drinks: I’ve been numerous times for happy hour and assumed the featured drinks would be a watered down rip off – negative! The drinks taste great and aren’t watered down at all. Happy Hour: The happy hour here is bomb! Half off appetizers, $ 7 featured cocktails and awesome music. The Friday Dj plays all the old school jams perfect happy hour party music. Service: One thing that typically leaves me perturbed about eating out in the Bronx is customer service. Unlike most places that act like you came to their private residence begging for charity Escapes treats you like a welcomed guest. They are so well staffed that half of the time as soon as I think of something I want(more food, another drink etc) someone is right there attending to me. Location: Although located in the north Bronx Escapes is only about a 3 min walk from the 4 train and mere mins from the major degan by car. Pretty convenient. Overall, this is a great place with stellar service, delectable foods, solid drinks and a real fun ambiance

Food was delicious and was treated wonderful right from the moment I entered the lounge. It has a great atmosphere and a perfect ambiance. This is the perfect place to come and relax after a hard day at work. Happy Hour is from 12−9pm every day. Excellent for after work or to watch the game. The Paella is awesome and the Churrasco will melt in your mouth.
