Very very bad food. En mi vida había comido un mofongo y unos tostones tan malo. Parece que los fríen en la mañana y los calientan en microwave. Todo estaba malo hasta el pollo que supuestamente es lo mejor que ofrecen

Malecon could be an amazing restaurant with the proper management but unfortunately it is not that kind of place, so you make do of what the have. The waitresses are the worst, they have no attention to detail no sense of urgency and at times it feels like you might be bothering them if you ask for their assistance. But this is a Dominican Restaurant norm, being Dominican myself it’s upsetting. But anyway all in all the food is amazing I’ve had their rotisserie chicken which is one of the best in the neighborhood as well as their Churrasco steak, Mangu, Mofongo even their pepper steak lunch special is great. If it wasn’t for the service I’d dine here more often — good thing their food is tasty! Wish I could give it 4⁄5 stars.

Ordered in restaurant for take out. The order took more than 45 minutes while I waited for a simple order. Unfortunately the food is okay, nothing special but they definetely have to do better with wait time and managing their takeout orders from deliveries.

The food here is okay. The décor is nice and the waiters are very attentive. The only thing is that they serve dry toasted bread. Also, their beef stew is rip off. Normally in bed stew you are supposed to have chunks of meet in the stew, but in this place they serve you thin slices of beef in your stew. For my six year old I ince ordered scrambled eggs with Swiss cheese and it was so greasy and soggy and green… yuck.

Not sure how why this rated so low… this is easily one of the best rotisserie chickens in the city and the mofongo is pretty damn good too.

As a vegan(or vegetarian) options are pretty limited to the sides. My friend and I shared sides of yellow rice, beans, steamed vegetables, yucca and plantains. The rice and beans were hardy and tasty, the plantains were amazingly sweet and mushy. The steamed vegetables were barely cooked and had no real taste and the yucca was so tough and starchy we had trouble eating it and gave up. On the other hand, the mango juice is wonderful. The total cost was around $ 30 which is good for a dinner but pricey considering we got only sides.

Excellent authentic Latin food, restaurant recently updated the interior to a more modern atmosphere. This place is a definite winner.

The place has been renovated and looks a bit like a diner. The food is ok, basic Spanish dishes at very decent prices. The service is awful. Sometimes you sit and wait and wait for a waitress. I think the service staff could use some basic training.

The food is good but the service sucks! If you can’t speak Spanish calling in an order is a legitimate problem. They’ll act like they can’t hear you and hang up… this has happened to me at least 6 times. They owner of this place doesn’t know or doesn’t care. But I am literally writing this review having just been hung up on twice… smh. At this point they have lost all business from and I feel others who no hablo Español may want to steer clear of this place cause your business is not wanted there.

Bad.. I had a Cuban sandwich, more like Nasty Cuban, it was soooooo dry & flavorless the ham & pork I had to put ketchup for flavor & a little moist, because the pork would stay stuck when I swallowed it. Waiter wasn’t much help, didn’t refill our glasses with water since we drank the whole thing because of the food. My boyfriends pork was also dry & flavorless, drenching it with«black beans«wasn’t much help. This doesn’t seem like a Dominican restaurant or Spanish where everything is full of flavor and taste delicious, won’t be returning here.

The half-chicken with white rice and black beans is my go-to meal for 2 along with a salad. The food is always good and worth the price tag. Currently under $ 20 for this entire meal. Enjoying the sub-optimal service is the problem. When the waitress/waiter realizes that they have to scratch off the salad they forgot to bring and then don’t recognize their forgetfulness or apologize for it, that is a problem. If it’s just the meal that’s needed, don’t expect extraordinary service. I will stick to Malecon on 175th and Broadway where they are a bit more conscience of the customers.

Do not go to this restaurant. They are rude and will not alter your food as per customer service. It seems that they are over confident and cocky. Try el economico a cross the street — at least you will be serve.

The best rotisserie chicken ever! I’ve eaten in a few places and no where will you taste rotisserie chicken like this. Also I’ve seen complaints against the stuff, the entire stuff are very accommodating and friendly you just gotta get to know them. I know i am a local and I come here at least once a week but they are very warm and welcoming and very accommodating!

This place is on a great location. Right next to homes and a small shopping stop but also next to a funeral parlor. I had went with a large group originally, 25+. We waited roughly 15 – 20 minutes to get a table. Since our group was large, we had to divide into separate tables. Which was okay. Anyway, server took a while to take our order even though our other tables had taken theirs and got their food first. The food was quick and fast so I wasn’t mad. 2 things killed my experience here. 1. We had asked for mayo+ketchup over four times from our server. Eventually we told someone else but our original server gave it to us. We understand the restaurant was extremely busy but over two times isn’t acceptable. 2. The table space was ridiculously small. When you go to a Spanish restaurant, you’re supposed to expect big tables for big plates of food. It was inconvenient an had to share my rice plate with someone else to preserve room(combined) Otherwise, the restaurant was pretty alright. To your left you see those whom get the rice and bend and anything«takeout-y». Seating area is divided by a «fence» which was pretty dandy except someone’s finished fountain soda cup fell on me. Overall, I was going to give this place a lower score but I tried my mothers steak and it was absolutely divine. The beans were on point and I’m glad I got carded for Heineken. I also tried a delicious Morir Sonando. Would’ve been privileged if I had that instead :)

Been coming to this Malecon for many years. Quality of the basics is always consistent. They are famous for their rotisserie chicken(pollo al horno). I usually order half a chicken, rice, beans, and mas-duros plantains and feed two kids and myself under $ 22. Also, they have the most amazing tres leche cake there. If you take it to go, it’s a dollar cheaper. Worth every buck. Just thinking about it now makes me salivate.

Delicious rice! Shocking prices for the environment: rice, beans, chicken for $ 18. Waited sooo long for all aspects. Little if no service-Asked no less than 3 times for our check. before my company raised his voice(eek!). I bet ordering to-go in advance might make the prices a little tastier.

The food is very good and very expensive. If you are fortunate enough to have a great Dominican cook in your family, you’ll have eaten better food for far less $. That’s why there is a place called«El Economico» rift across the street from this establishment. When people are tired and want something quick, this is a good option. I’ve been to this restaurant, the one in Yonkers and the one in Washington Heights. At each location, remember to ask for the pollo entero to be cooked well done unless you want transparent chicken. The Dominican breakfast is awesome as is the tres lech, Country Club soda, and various shakes. My personal fave is the chicharron de pollo sin hueso con limon and a few ice cold Presidentes while watching Dominican League Baseball.

Their chicken is finger licking delicious. Arrived on a Saturday Afternoon and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, bread was put on the table promptly. We had to ask for water and flag a waiter to come over, it was a bit packed i might add. Ordered half a chicken with Tostones, red snapper with rice and beans and a heineken which was served with lemons? The fish tasted just ok, like farmed fish but it was not bad. The rice was good and the beans excellent. Now the chicken is their forte, you smell it a mile away from their rest. I always go and get the chicken because of that. It comes with wasakaka(garlic, lime juice) so you can make it juicier. Prices are not bad but not super cheap as they used to be.
