I signed up for CleanDirect through their Facebook page. I was very happy with the service. My dog peed on my duvet cover and I scheduled it at 6pm and they came first thing the next morning and I had it back by the time i got home from work at 7pm the next day. They came on time and turned around my clothing within 24 hours. I will use them again.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Every single item was returned to me with stains still visibly present — fresh stains that should have been no hassle to remove. I made notations on my order as to where the stains were located on each garment, so it’s not like the person processing my items just didn’t see them.
What brought me to
was a discount through Doodle Deals for $ 25 off $ 50 worth of dry cleaning. I entered my Doodle Deals voucher number when submitting my order as per the instructions, yet my credit card was charged the full amount of the cleaning. I contacted the company several times about this and was advised that, because they use a third party credit card company and claim they do not have access to customers’ payment details, they could not refund me but would issue me a check for $ 25. Seemed silly to me but, given my issues with the cleaning itself, I didn’t need to nitpick over the way in which my discount was being refunded (even if I shouldn’t have been charged in the first place).
With the exception of one item from an eight item order, nothing looked or smelled clean — to the extent where I don’t believe anything was done to my items between the time they were picked up and the time they were bagged and sent back. The explanation I was given was, «It is possible that an item got bagged that shouldn’t have without proper removal of stains, we service over 80 hotels and run a 60,000 sq foot facility». That is all the more reason orders should be double checked for accuracy.
While they did offer to re-​process my items, they were again returned with the same stains. I hardly thought this was forgivable once, but twice? Amazingly, thereafter, I found that I was able to easily remove the stains myself with a q-​tip and just a drop of delicate detergent — proof that my garments were not cleaned.
I imagine the only reason this company has managed to stay afloat is that its business comes mainly from travelers in hotels rather than repeat customers based locally.
My advice: save yourself the headache and stick with your local dry cleaner.

The service has improved greatly since I first used this company for cleaning.
The drivers are courteous and on-​time. More effort was made to come to my actual suite rather than have me come down to the street.
I’d use this company again in a heartbeat… especially because they worked hard to overcome early issues with the pickup and delivery.

Tried these guys a few months ago because of a groupon — big mistake. I sent a large load of cleaning to them following a move and they lost one of my shirts and left watermarks all over another. First guy I spoke with was great… he offered to pay to replace the shirt and comp’d the cleaning. Unfortunately I couldn’t identify which shirt had been lost at the time — we just had a vague description and knew from the shirt count something was missing. I went looking for the shirt a couple of weeks ago and figured it out. I called and got the owner — very nasty. He hung up on me as I tried to describe the shirt (i thought maybe they might have lost n found) and asked to be reimbursed as the other guy promised. He offered more free cleaning then hung up on me. No thanks.
…even free it’s not worth the aggravation.

Wow. I bought their Groupon a while back and finally decided to use it. I set up a pickup and they arrived during the specified 2-​hour time window for pickup, but the guy was entirely clueless about what a Groupon was and told me to email Customer Service. I did, and got a cryptic but somewhat reassuring email back.
When it came time to deliver my laundry the next day, that’s where they fell short. I’m a working adult, and I told them to deliver my shirts between 9am and 11am — I start work at 11. I waited until 11:05 and exasperatedly left to go to work. I got a phone call 15 minutes later. Since I don’t live in a doorman building, they couldn’t leave my clothing. They promised to be back at 6:15pm, after I get off work.
In addition to being a working adult, I like to do things with my evenings other than hang out in my apartment waiting for dry cleaning. 7pm rolls around. No shirts. I call the number that had called me earlier in the day and finally get a response after 3 tries. «We have a few more orders. We’ll be there by 7:45 or 8.» I’m sorry, I have dinner plans at 8.
Clean Direct has a good idea. But they seem to deeply and fatally misunderstand their target market: busy and active, young, and somewhat affluent Manhattanites looking for a convenient solution to their dry cleaning needs. I’ve been a slave to their schedule for 3 hours already today — it should be the other way around. Let’s see if I make my dinner date on time. Bets? I’m not confident.

After I made a complaint to the Manager Cory about the missing belt to a trench coat, he confronted me about the negative online reviews and decided not to make any compensation — not even a refund of the dry clean on the coat. A dry cleaner that loses your garment and willingly ignores unsatisfying customers is not a place you want to send your dry clean to.
