Caribe Restaurant

This restaurant definitely has delicious food. However, like the other posts, the service is horrible due to the following reasons:
1. Their english is very limited so it is difficult to place an order or modify it
2. They charge extra for sauce and the amount varies each time you buy it
3. Staff is very rude
Too bad the food is good enough to deal with it.

Worst fucking Service ever. Cant even do the simplest of tasks. Even the to go orders they can’t get right. Beans spilled all over the bag because they couldn’t close the containers the right way, why? Because they’re too busy talking shit while doing their job. Never again going back in there.

Best Mofongo especially the camarones y Mofongo. But everything’s so good here. Get hungry again just writing this.

This is my favorite Spanish food spot!!! As close to my abuelas as I can get. Deff try it out it’s worth it!

The food is good but Caridad and el Bohio staff is better. I used them many times in the past but I will stop as of today due to the bad customer service I had from them today.

My sisters and I were craving mofongo all week long so I decided to take a look at Unilocal for a good spot. Caribe on Crosby Ave was the best decision. Their menu says «Best Mofongo In Town» and they are correct! Best Mofongo EVAH! We’ll be back real soon.

I’ve never called myself and ordered delivery, my boyfriend always has. Today I was starving and alone do decided to call myself. They couldn’t hear me on the phone. I called back twice. finally I just decided to stop being lazy, walk 4 blocks and go there and order the food myself. I got there and told the girl I had called but they couldn’t hear me. The two girls looked at eachother with a smirk and rolled their eyes. They were very rude and when I got home I realized they must have given me someone else’s food, or maybe they did it on purpose who knows. The food itself is ok but the service definitely sucks.

This is what you hope for when you get dominican food. Everybody was very friendly. More importantly the food was great – good portions and authentic taste. Coupled with the good prices, I can see my bf and I coming here more often.

The absolute best Mofongo I have ever had… ask for it with pernil instead and its even more amazing… Everyone there is so nice and ambiance is great… a lil small cozy place. Love it.

By far the best Spanish food restaurant that delivers. I usually order the shrimp with garlic sauce. It’s well seasoned and they give you about ⁷⁄₈ pieces of sautéed jumbo shrimp. Their rice is flavorful. Their baked chicken is tasty and not over cooked. My orders come with a small green salad with a refreshing dressing on the side.
The only complain I have is that they don’t make black beans and black beans happens to be my favorite type of beans.
Hospitality is great. From the person I speak to on the phone to the person that delivers my food, everyone seems very happy and pleasant.

First off the majority of the staff is RUDE… including their «Management». They are a bunch of thieves…1)they try to get you to tip twice so you have to look out… they say that its a computer error which they cant fix. They Bill you with the tip included but then hit you with the credit card receipt that requires you fill in the tip. 2) Sometimes their food is rancid but they say no… its okay maube its your taste buds… they get upset if you try to send the food back.
3)I went to buy my family some steak & onions the girl tried to give me one she had sitting on the counter. When i said no she caught the only attitude. If it wasnt because the place on Westchester Square was already closed i would of been rude & thrown the food at her with all the crap her & her coworkers were talking. Plus my son was looking forward to some steak & onions & my cab was running.
This place is over priced & the food isnt that great… plus the staff leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If i could I’d picket the place. One thing is for sure they lost a customer… a Family of customers because I’ll never go back and neither will my family or extended family that do happen to live in the neighborhood. The only reason i gave it 1 star is because they have 1 waitress who i pray to God finds a better place to work.
Save your money & time… go elsewhere… save yourself the discomfort of this place!

If I could have written a review WITHOUT a star, I would have. I’ve called this restaurant five times and every single time they tell me they don’t deliver, or are closing (I’ve called at 6pm, 8pm, each time within one to two hours of «closing time». I just called now and they took my order, transferred me to another person who asked me what I wanted and then told me they had to close in 5 minutes due to «an emergency». This place is a joke I will never recommend anyone to attempt business with them.

I ordered 2 catering trays, one rice and one chicken. For the price paid we got a generous amount of rice, but that’s about the best thing i could say. rice was a little bland. chicken a little dry. Nothing too bad.
I have to give it only 2 stars is bc I requested it be delivered for a certain time and they arrived almost an hour and a half later

First time ordering from Caribe last week, and I am HOOKED.
Generous portions, delicious food, and super friendly staff!
Ordered ½ roast chicken, maduros, and yellow rice & beans. It arrived in a timely manner (around 45 minutes — not too bad for a Saturday night). Everything was SO good… I didn’t even feel bad about eating most of it by myself!

This is our new favorite spot! I’m very picky when it comes to my food bc I grew up in the business and I know what quality should taste like.
This place makes me happy bc it satisfies my Spanish food craving. The rice and beans are so good I can eat that all by itself. Yes, I know rice and beans are nothing special but when prepared the right way it’s heaven. I’ve had overcooked rice and bland beans in other places so it’s nice to see that Caribe got it right!
Secondly, the cerdo frita is so good it makes my eyes roll back! Seasoned to perfection and never too greasy. We haven’t eaten anything we didn’t like yet.
The woman who helps us every time we’re there is always so helpful and extra sweet!
I’m glad we found Caribe and it’s so close to home!

Very good. Best Spanish food spot in the Bronx. Try their Moro (Rice and peas) with pernil and tostones. The Mofongo is really good too. Enjoy

Small spot but food is usually good. Great customer service, decent prices. The décor can use some help, they must have gotten a real good deal from a taxidermist:-) their mofongo de camarones was superb!

I have to re-​rate Caribe at 4 stars. I recently ordered some take out and I ordered my usual pernil, yellow rice and beans and it was just so delicious, tender and savory, that I couldn’t deny that extra star any longer. All of it was prepared flawlessly. The inside still remains clean and inviting, with the front door proudly displaying its «A» grade from the Board of Health.
Another plus: everyone behind the counter was smiling and friendly. Definitely stop by here when you get a hankering for Caribbean food — no embellishments, no twists or creative reinterpretations, just stick-​to-​your ribs classic Caribbean fare.

The food is great, but I the service sucks. Or maybe the service only sucks if you’re white. I walk in and wait at the counter to place an order and am deliberately ignored, even after making eye contact several times. Other non-​white people walk in after me, and I’ve been waiting already maybe five or six minutes, they’re immediately addressed by the staff and their orders are taken.
After inquiring whether or not I could place an order they finally take it. The rest of the time the youngest looking waitress is throwing me nasty looks. The waitress are very attentive to the kitchen bell chiming when an order is up. After a few orders are filled and I’ve been waiting a while, there’s a chime. and the waitress looks over to check the food, then leaves it there ten minutes to get cold instead of bringing it over to the counter to be bagged. Yep. Turns out that was my order.
I’ve been here maybe a dozen times, the food is really good but the servers are consistently rude to me despite me not being a fussy costumer and also being a good tipper.
I won’t be going there again.

I was supposed to go and grab some breakfast but instead decided to stay home one day, my uncle brought food back for me. I expected to not be pleased but was hungry so I decided to try it. It was DELICIOUS. I was in love from the first bite and didn’t get up until I finished my whole plate. I want to go now, the food is great.
