Super slow, expensive with no staff discounts, soggy sandwiches that are skimpy & half rotten lettuce and tomatoes on a regular basis. Menu reduced for«healthy choices» — get real! Most purchasing here are not buying for patients we’d like real food choices this isn’t prison!

I was at the hospital visiting a friend last night and wanted something to eat. I saw a nurse with an Au Bön Pain coffee cup and she told me there was one downstairs. I never even knew that there WAS an Au Bön Pain at Jacobi Hospital! Anyway, I went down and found it. It was a good sized place and similar in layout to the ones in the city. They’re also open 24⁄7 which is great for staff and hospital visitors and patients. Not only is the layout similar to the city locations, but so are the prices. I had a small coffee and a hot roast beef sandwich which came to $ 9.19. They’re able to keep the prices high I assume, since this is the only place to get food aside from the vending machines. There are several food trucks in the front of the hospital, however they leave after business hours, 5:30pm ish or so. The hospital is also in a residential area, so after 8pm or so, there aren’t any other places nearby outside to eat except a 24⁄7 Rite Aid. The coffee was decent and the sandwich was pretty good. It was roast beef and white cheddar on a ciabatta roll with tomatoes and greens(spring mix). There was also mayo and dijon mustard. It usually comes cold but I asked for them to heat it. Roast beef is personally best served hot. The staff was nice and accommodating. As far as things I did not like… there were a few flies hanging out around the salad bar. Not sure what that was about. It would also make sense to me if they installed sum outlets in the seating area as well as wifi. This would be great for the hospital staff during their breaks as well as for people visiting patients. Sumtimes, you can be at the hospital for hours with a sick relative/friend and u need sumwhere to charge ur phone. Other than that it was fine. It’s also nearby to my house so if I’m ever home and hungry at 3am, I know where too go!

I work at the hospital and get a meal card to use, so I eat at ABP quite a lot. The staff is friendly, usually quick, and everything is clean. The pastries and salads are very fresh tasting.

Worst Au Bön Pain I have been to. The staff is slow and there is a huge turn over of staff. It appears as if the new staff just keeps getting slower and slower by the minute. Yes it can get busy however even at 7AM when is not busy it takes about 15 minutes just to get a buttered bagel. I can’t comprehend why it takes 2 – 3 people to make a sandwich and why they move at such a slow pace(I used to be a deli worker it does not take 15 minutes to make a sandwich). Many times my order has been wrong so once I order I have to keep an eye on the staff to make sure they get my order correct. There is only one guy I trust with my order at this point and he is hardly ever there during my work hours. I try my best to bring breakfast and lunch with me to work in order to avoid having to go to au bon pain and spend 30 minutes of my lunch time trying to order. Unfortunately its the only place inside Jacobi aside form a café in building 4 which I don’t trust since their bacon taste funny and the burger meat looks like it was cooked several days before.

Great service for such a busy place! Even their prices stay reasonable!
