Torchy’s Legends

As a former regular, this place is awful. I can name a grocery list of things wrong with this place, but off the top of my head, it reeks of toilet water and stale smoke, it’s dark and gloomy, The air conditioner is never turned on enough so it is miserable… who wants to go pay to sweat at a bar? They never clean the bathrooms so there is often puke in the toilets. On two separate occasions the 128 oz «tower» of beer we bought had mold in the tap. On numerous occasions we have received chipped glasses. I have a friend that used to work here, and they told me there is pink fuzz in the ice machine. Half the time there is a fight there, so if you like dealing with punks with chips on their shoulders and the cops showing up every night, this is the place for you. And then there’s the drinks. I don’t know how many times over the years I have bought shots here and they tasted nothing like they were supposed to be. Say if you order a shot of Jack, it tastes like Evan Williams with water in it. Word used to be that they watered down the booze, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they still do. Then there’s the beer. My friends that used to work here say they never cleans their tap lines, so the beer tastes like shit and has floaties in it. Oh and they recently raised the prices, so their domestic tap beer is more expensive than any other bar in town. Wow, pay higher prices to drink mold; isn’t that nice? Bottom line: Save your money, avoid this place. Go somewhere else. Trust me.

Okay. Would I recommend this place to people? No. Will I continue to come here? Yes.
Here’s the scoop. This place is smokey, they’ve raised their beer prices, they have crap for beer anyway and some of the crowd is quite questionable. BUT… I have friends who have been coming here for over a decade and it’s just what they know. The staff have always been great to us, the pool is your typical $ 1 and 99% of the time a table is open. If by chance I am going here, it is to play pool and drink crap beer but more importantly to hang with my friends. So for what this place is and what I’m looking for, it is a great.
They have some sort of special every day of the week, they’ve got a jukebox that is always working, a dance floor, and apparently bands from time to time. Come by and make your own judgment. =)

Bought the T-​shirt over 5 years ago and I am still drinking free beer from 8 to midnight every Saturday night. Great atmosphere. Customers of all ages hang out. My husband and I like to gather our friends and play pool. The staff are very friendly and they always have drink specials going on.
