This is my favorite restaurant for dates and family get-togethers. The food is delicious and you get huge portions, great for next day leftovers!

It’s good sushi and a nice atmosphere. I’ll go after work for a beer or two and their sushi combination for one. It’s tasty and always fresh

What a dump. Ordered 2 sushi plates and yaki soba noodles. Also ordered a mai tai and diet coke. The flat diet coke finally came & was disgusting. The mai tai sat on the bar for 10 minutes. The sushi came and no noodles. Plenty of other tables were served. I inquired & they said a few more minutes. Finally received. Disgusting. DONOTWASTE A PENNY at this place. They should be embarrassed.

My family went to Yamato for my sister’s birthday. We were food was good, atmosphere was good and having fun until we got the bill… the manager wasn’t accommodating enough to split the bill. The server wasn’t very helpful and the manager did’t make it any better. He was very unprofessional, he couldn’t even come talk to us in person like a manager should. If the manager would have just met us halfway, we would have gotten the discount we were supposed to get and the manager wouldn’t have taken his server’s tip. I was very disappointed at how we were treated, ignored really, because I had been there before many times and always had a good experience.

My girlfriend and I have been here several times for dinner and the food is great! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The show the cooks put on is very entertaining! We’ve had Frankie cook for us several times, and he’s great! Upon the first glance, the prices may seem expensive, but the portions are well worth the money. The one drawback to this restaurant is that the wait for dinner can be long, but it is worth the wait.

This was unexpected surprise considering the location as I am somewhat cautious about restaurants in plaza parking lots. But food, service and flavors were quite good and the atmosphere was what you’d expect at a hibachi venue. Good stuff especially the grilled mussels in chef sauce. All dishes served came Hot and ready!

Bought a chicken teriyaki lunch box last week. The chicken was uneatable, as it wasn’t possible to cut through it. I had to throw it away. I wonder whether it was chicken. Food is of the lowest quality. By the way, the call themselves«Japanese stake house» when they are all Chinese/Taiwanese. The Japanese should sue them for impersonation.

Yamatos is overpriced for what you are getting. The food is very generic and very disappointing. Service was slow and staff wasn’t welcoming. Ordered some drinks: Mai tai and a virgin strawberry daiquiri. The daiquiri was too sweet and wasn’t enjoyable. Avocado salad– I thought it was going to be avocado base where the avocados would be cut up with crab meat and masago and all that but nope. Literally the house salad with lettuce on the bottom and half an avocado sliced on top. Don’t order this we were devastated when we received it. Salmon lover roll. The roll was very dry and the texture can be compared to tuna in a can. Hawaiian roll — decent but still nothing mind blowing. It was wrapped with crab meat and looked very appetizing. Beef teriyaki — the meat was tough and the accompaniments were not good. The fried siu Mai was mushy on the inside and I wasn’t able to see or taste much of the shrimp. It came with vegetable tempura and that wasn’t crispy and lacked in seasoning. It also came with rice and a small California roll. The plate was barely touched and definitely wasn’t worth anything. Shrimp pad Thai — the sauce was overly sweet and didn’t have peanuts! I was so angry because it not pad Thai without the crunchy nuts. Overall I will not be returning due to their disappointing food

Went for lunch for sushi. Overall a nice place. The restaurant used to be an Uno Chicago Grill, and honestly on the dining room(booths) side of the restaurant the décor hasn’t changed much at all. Given the wobbly table, might even be leftover fixtures from Uno. The menu is large, and can be a little overwhelming and confusing. I ended up ordering an order of tuna sashimi, an order of salmon sashimi, and a Philadelphia roll off their a la cartel menus. The fish was very fresh and served in 3 decent cuts of each serving. The Philadelphia roll was tasty as well. Prices are reasonable, our waitress was friendly enough, and overall it was an enjoyable lunch. Will be back.

Love the sushi and drinks. Service can be sketchy at best, and the ala carte hot items can be hit or miss but overall the drinks are really good.

Best local sushi place. Shagge dog roll highly recommended. We been here multiple times & never have to wait to long to be seated. Nice place, good food and drinks. 30% off specials on certain days.

One of the best hibachi places I’ve been to. Great food and large portions. It’s pretty cheap to drink here and they do a good job giving you plenty of saki while they cook. The cooks are also entertaining and do all the hibachi moves which is fun. Ill be back as often as I can! Saki make me happy.

We made reservations for my moms birthday and when we arrived we still had to wait about 20 min, we were seated with another family who had children running around and crying, so we asked to move.(We were looking for something more privately) they moved us to a small table, the sushi was good but nothing spectacular or different.

My fiancé and I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. Well, it’s not the first time we’ve made a mistake. The night started out well enough… that is until our«waitress» took our drink and appetizer order. We ordered a scorpion bowl, two waters and a plate of sushi. Everyone received their drinks promptly. We got our waters and were told they were working on our scorpion bowl. Well«working on it» turned into«they ran out of bowls, it’s going to be a few minutes.» Approximately five minutes after she told us this the table next to us got three scorpion bowls delivered to their table. A little later into the evening, the couple next to us got their sushi while we continued to wait for our drink & sushi. It wasn’t until the chef was basically done cooking that she offered to bring our scorpion bowl over. At this point we were almost done eating and were going to be driving soon. We told her we didn’t want it but that’d we’d take two cokes instead. We had finished eating when a different waitress came over with our scorpion bowl where we had to decline it once again. It was like a scene from a really bad horror movie. To sum it up, we never received our scorpion bowl(on our way to the liquor store now), sushi or cokes. We did get a half-ass apology. The food was pretty good(aside from the lukewarm soup and half empty salad) but there are a lot of good hibachi places around where the waitresses don’t forget to bring out drinks and appetizers. We’ll be going to one of those places from now on.

Like my fellow Unilocalers, I was pleasantly surprised with Yamato. Overall the food was great, staff was friendly for the most part and the hibachi(which yes, is exactly the same as Benihana’s) was great. Points was huge servings, tasty food, great entertainment at the hibachi table, and the yummy Shirly Temple they made me. Yeah — I went there! Minus ½ star for the waitress that decided to stand in my line of vision, pick, bite and self manicure her nails(I’m guessing out of boredom) but it was a little gnarly for me to watch as those things affect my appetite. The other ½ was for the Salmon roll we got as it was pretty much thrown together and well frankly wasn’t presented well. I think both are pretty nit picky to not go here, that’s just me. I think well worth the trip and as others have mentioned a very fair price! $ 44.00 including tip got me and my husband each the filet lunch meal(Mushroom soup, salad, fried rice, vege and steak tea and again my yummy Shirly T.

My parents just moved into the neighborhood so we went here last week for the hibachi. Hibachi makes me happy. Usually hibachi is basically the same everywhere. For those who haven’t had hibachi yet(and thus, haven’t lived): the meal includes mushroom/onion soup, salad, noodles, rice, vegetables, and your choice of protein(chicken, steak, seafood, etc). 5 stars for the fact that the prices are cheap! I’m pretty sure the prices for each dinner hibachi item was at least $ 2 – 5 cheeper for their counterparts at Benihana. And it’s made even cheaper because FRIEDRICEISINCLUDED. As an Asian, I’m always appalled when they charge for fried rice at hibachi places because, come on, it’s rice. That’s like charging for water. I’m always made anxious over my deep undying love of fried rice and my honest-to-goodness principle of not paying extra for fried rice– well NOMORE! Free fried rice for all! 1 star deducted for the sauce that they put on their seafood. I had steak and salmon combo, and the salmon was doused in some teriyaki sauce, which was edible but a little too salty for my taste. My dad’s scallops were also doused in the same sauce. Although, the guy next to us had seafood with the same sauce, tasted it, and then proceeded to pour like, 10 seconds of soy sauce onto his entrée, so. Who knows. Haven’t been here for the sushi but. Don’t you worry. 30% off sushi on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays? As the 38th governor of California would say: I’ll be back.

Came here for lunch with a friend. My spicy scallop roll was fresh and tasty. I thought I would have liked a few more pieces though. I had a glass of cold sake which was good as well. I really appreciated how attentive they were when asking about food allergies and checking to make sure what we ordered was okay for my friend.

This place really surprised me. Based on it’s location, I assumed it was going to be of a much lower quality. I must admit … It was very good ! Dinner box(the beef with tempura): HUGE quantity. Very good quality. It came with 4 pieces of shrimp and other vegetable tempura, 4 pieces of pork dumplings, fried rice, 6 pieces of California sushi, beef of course made to order, salad and miso soup. It definitely gets a 4⁄5 Pink lady drink: very good with the right amount of alcohol. Service was very good.
