Great view, great taxidermy, good beer selection, one of the best oyster sandwiches I’ve ever had.. . service was fine, but it was empty when we were there. Everyone was very nice. Oddly, lots of middle age motorcycle couples.. . odd demographic.

Great food, fun friendly service. Great place to stop when your camping at Dosewallips. Sat at the bar twice and watched one guy cook all the food by himself he was amazing. They accommodated the Seahawks fans by serving breakfast normally only open for lunch and dinner. Chowder, ranch, tater sauce, blue cheese & French bread all homemade. Can’t wait to come here again!

I would have given 5 stars however the service was a little slow. The food more than made up for it. My son got a bacon cheeseburger that was massive and he said delicious. My daughter ordered a prawn basket that was great and my wife ordered the fish and chips. I splurged and ordered the Captains Plate which was easily enough for two people. Two large cod filets, 4 fresh oysters, a bunch of prawns, really nice clam strips and a ton of popcorn shrimp. Not to mention a baked potato and clam chowder! I’ll be back!

Beer was not icy cold, food was mediocre and service was nice but exceptionally slow. It is one of only 2 restaurants in the area, so we went in a couple of times while camping. I wish they had outdoor seating available for dinner. We were pushed back inside our first night as the patio was closed… in daylight

Enjoyed really good Tavern food on their outside dining deck with wonderful view of Hood Canal. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely the best place to eat on the west side of the Hood Canal.

What used to be one of my favorite stops while on the peninsula, just isn’t the same. Still has pretty good food, but the slow service is miserable. One hint, sit at the bar and get food and drink much sooner than sitting inside the restaurant. I’ll be hard-pressed to come back, or bring my motorcycle club with me.

We got there at 5:00 and they were out of oysters. My steak was overcooked but still pretty good. Special was clams, small serving. Wasn’t offered the soup or desert that was on the board with the special, just French Fries. My husband left hungry. May go back and try again.

When I got on the road on Wednesday, June 10, to drive home to Portland from Port Townsend, I intentionally skipped breakfast because I knew I would be driving through world-class oyster territory, and I should be able to get an early lunch somewhere. A woman in an antique shop recommended Geoduck, and I had no reason to doubt her. I got there shortly after they opened. It’s really just a road house/biker bar. The waitress let me sit outside. THIS is what you are paying for! Gorgeous views of the tidal marsh and the bay beyond(unsure if this is Dabob Bay or some other body of water). Not much of the seafood is local, but the oysters are, so I got the fried oyster basket, which comes with a choice of soup, salad or fries; I had to try their chowder. While I’m waiting for my food, I’m enjoying the view. I had been told by the antique store woman that sometimes one can see eagles, or elk, or other creatures. I was content with barn swallows nesting in the eaves behind my head, and what I believe to be juvenile and female Calliope hummingbirds frequenting the feeder a few feet from me. Now for the food: The chowder was surprisingly good! I’m very critical of chowders, and have eaten too many bad ones, but Geoduck really does a very good job with their clam chowder! The oysters were fried very well, and were served on a bed of lettuce with both tartar and cocktail sauce, plus lemon wedges. A perfectly fine lunch in a beautiful setting for the price. And my waitress was delightful, informed, competent and timely. If you are driving along Highway 101, treat yourself and stop at Geoduck. And snag a seat on the deck, if you can.

Start by reading Christine’s review. We did and our experience was exactly as she stated. All the meals were great: fishwich, Ty One On, patty melt and Burger dip. All yummy and 2 of them unique! Crispy fries. Great beer on tap.

This place is not for everyone, but we love it. The TY One On oyster sandwich is superb as are the(not frozen or reconstituted) fries. The view is interesting, the décor is sheer local color, and the service runs the gamut from terrible to superb. Go figure. If you are in a hurry or expecting a stream-lined franchise-type operation, head further north for a real restaurant. If you can be happy with fried oysters you will never forget and a seriously good choice of beers, this is your place. Sit down, settle in, look out the window, and eat when the food shows up.

If you want some place classy and romantic. Not the place to go. If you want awesome Prime Ribs or the best Burger Dip ever, then this is the place to go.

We heard this place was great for burgers. I’d love to tell you they were great, but we didn’t even get our food. We stopped in on 09÷13÷14 at around 12:15. There were a few other tables in there and most had already been served. We ordered a beer and soda. The soda was fine, but the beer was flat and we had to return it. We saw two other tables return their beers as well(different breweries). The view is great. The server was nice enough but not very attentive. The burgers looked great, and huge, so we ordered one to split. After about 30 – 40 minutes we asked about our food since we had seen others tables who came in after us getting their food and were told ‘it would be right up’. After another 10 – 20 minutes we asked again and were told ‘it’s in the next batch’. Finally we got up and told the server we were leaving. It didn’t really phase her, I think she is probably used to it. Don’t stop here, you’ll just be disappointed. How hard is it to make a burger, really.

I needed to kill some time while waiting for a business meeting, so opted to grab a bite here knowing it’s a roadside biker bar with a killer view. The server was awesome, attentive, patient, and helpful. The burger was delicious, the fries were great. What more can someone ask for from a small town bar? If you go in with grand expectations, you may end up possibly disappointed, but if you remember your in the middle of nowhere and are getting the best view and friendly atmosphere, it’ll all work out just fine. Bring your binaculars to play with while you wait for food. My true rating is a 4, but giving a 5 to balance against what I consider unfair one stars.

Took my motorcycle club here for lunch during a ride. There were a dozen of us that came in. Half of the group got their order while the rest of us waited an additional 15 minutes or so for the rest of our food. Had to ask the waitress to speed up my son’s order, so he didn’t suffer and could eat. The waitress forgot my husband’s water twice. People were coming in ahead of us got their food before we did. When I spoke to the manager, all he did was make excuses as to why service was slow. I’m only giving three stars because the view was beautiful. For a popular spot on the Hood Canal, they are not equipped or staffed to handle a lot of people. May be ok if you just sat at the bar and drank. Overall, not impressed!

Agree with the BAD reviews! Got there at 1:30 and did not get our food till 3: PM. Fresh oysters were fresh from a jar and served in a bowl(no shells) and my crab cakes were by far the worst I have ever had. I actually could not eat them. That is a total first for me. I read a review that said the seafood was fantastic. If fantastic is out of a jar and box, then it could qualify. What surprised me, is that they kept telling us how busy they were and when I went inside there were a couple of tables. Save your money and go for seafood elsewhere. Hate to write a bad review, but this place was second to our worst dining experience and we have eaten all over the world.

The establishment is nice, great view — but the service was horrible. Not the first time and more times than not this review is a typical visit. Not a lot of options on 101 up I this area, so they have a pretty captive audience. The food is average, nothing special and the wait is long even when they aren’t busy. Our visit started by waiting at least 6 – 8 minutes before anyone would even come to our table to get a drink order. They weren’t even busy and they looked at us but were apparently too busy to come over or even acknowledge us. By the time the waiter came over we were ready to order. So we ordered two baskets of food and two beers… Finally our beer arrived and quite a while longer, at least a good 15 minutes — our two deep fried baskets arrived. About 5 minutes in to eating, our beers were empty. We sat and tried to not be rude, tried to say excuse me as the waiter left the table beside us but he seemed to ignore us and walk away. After ¾ of our meals and another 10 – 15 minutes, I couldn’t stand it and went to the bar with the empty glasses and asked for two more. They said they would bring them out. How nice. They dropped the bill off with out second beer and we waited another at least 10 minutes, for them to come take my card to pay. Maybe I should have went to the bar to pay… I thought I was in sit down nicer restaurant, not Taco Bell. At least Taco Bell is fast and you get what you order. $ 40+ later, to say the least I’m not impressed. Hopefully they can work to improve their service. I would hate to visit when it’s busy or during a lunch/dinner rush. Guess we will travel to Hoodsport where there are some good places with good service.

I would not come back here. The ambiance is great and is what we were looking for. The wait for the food was way too long. When we finally got our food it was really just average and overpriced. I ordered the oyster sandwich. The hubs ordered fish and chips. This food was just not great.

Geoduck has more of a bar atmosphere, but the restaurant section is separated from the bar section by a waist-high fence, and the restaurant has a completely separate entrance. There is a deck where you can watch the seals and birds while you eat — there is also a cat? I ordered the clam strips(they were out of clam chowder, oysters, and I think steak). The pieces were large, about 3 – 4 inches long and half an inch wide, unlike many restaurants who give you small skimpy pieces where there’s just as much batter as clam. Some of the pieces had a soft texture, and others had a chewy texture — clams AND oysters? We asked our waitress, but she denied it because they were out of oysters. It doesn’t really matter to me, though. I actually liked the combination. The hamburgers were HUGE! My mom actually ended up taking half of her burger home with her. The bacon burgers came with LOTS of bacon. Lots of fries came with Our waitress was really nice and had a good sense of humor. When she saw me checking out the jukebox, she offered to give me some money from the till to play some music. I declined, but she brought $ 5 anyway and stuck it in the machine. I selected Paul McCartney’s Wings album — very nice of her.

This place is paradise in a tavern. We were spending a weekend on a boathouse and came across this little gem on Easter day. We showed up to find regulars sitting at the bar dying eggs. We noticed that our size of drink glasses were a little bit smaller than the size that the regulars got. WEWEREINTRIGUEDANDMOSTCERTAINLYWANTEDTOGETINTOTHEIRGANG. We kept drinking. A little while into it we noticed that we weren’t the only outsiders hanging out with this awesome secret society. There was another sitting directly across from us alone just gazing at the eggs getting dyed and longing to be a part of it. Eventually he joined and they welcomed him with open arms. OFCOURSE more drinks happen and all of a sudden we too end up sitting on the other side of the bar with these amazing people dying eggs. We began chatting with a few guys who were super friendly, but my ultimate favorite was a regular named Mark. Once he found out it was my birthday weekend he tried to give me a dyed Ostrich egg. I kept saying that I couldn’t take it because it must be being saved for something important because obviously it’s an awesome huge dyed Ostrich egg and you can’t just give something like that away. Mark refused to believe this and insisted on getting someone on the phone to ask for permission and ‘accept responsibility’. I wasn’t able to receive the egg obviously but I did receive a free beer ticket for my next must needed visit to Geoduck Tavern [and mostly Mark]. IT’S LAMINATED. Besides the staff and regulars being super friendly, nice, and entertaining — they also have a bar cat who hangs out on the incredible back deck that over looks the water! A. BAR. CAT. I am so proud to say that by the end of the night we were drinking out of the bigger glasses.
