Accurate Insulation

I first called Greg as Accurate Insulation was recommended by an energy auditor.
He came out to the home and inspected the attic, basement, garage, and a few other places in the house that potentially needed work.
I let him know that I was interested in doing some work on the house myself to save a bit of money, and he gave me some good advice to do so. Accurate Insulation ended up insulating the attic (blown-​in cellulose) and spray-​foaming the basement. Even so, he took a look in the garage attic and made some suggestions on small improvements that I could do on my own.
I worked on the attic to remove old insulation batts but couldn’t finish it after all. The day before coming to do the blown-​in cellulose, I gave them a call and they were able to accommodate the slight change in plan without any trouble at all. This was a relief.
It might have been somewhat my own fault for not investigating further, but the job description said they would «mesh and dense pack knee walls» in the attic. I had interpreted that to mean that they would install dense-​packed cellulose in the attic on the knee walls. Instead, a cheesecloth type paper was stapled and the loose packed cellulose was packed inside. Was slightly disappointed in this at first, but it seems like it’s of little consequence. It’s worth mentioning since it’s probably a common misunderstanding.
On a second trip a few days later, they came out and spray-​foamed the rim-​joist in the basement. In both cases, everything went smoothly.
Overall, happy with the experience and believe that the work was done satisfactorily.

The young men who did the insulation in attic and basement were careful to clean up and also helped with the specifics on the Consumers Rebate form.

From the first phone call, Greg and Josh were very accommodating. Josh showed up on time, on my schedule, not his. He told me about the products he installed, and the important relationship of insulation to ventilation. He found that I had insulation behind the exterior walls, so did not try to sell me insulation for the walls that I did not need.
He was not a high pressure sales guy like the other insulation companies. Used the same products as the others, offered the same warranties and guaranties, all for a VERY reasonable price. (The big companies that just send out the fast talking sales guys were THOUSANDS more expensive than Accurate’s quote).
The first thing they did when they showed up to do the work was put down drop clothes anywhere they would be walking. They placed baffles in every run, they re positioned numerous old bats of insulation that were left in the attic, and used the same cellulose insulation (Applegate) that the big companies use. They added a long run of ridge venting, and ventilated the garage. And they placed visible depth gauges in the attic to show how thick the cellulose was.
Great service and they delivered what they promised. Very happy with their service and product!
