So California decides to rob money from people buying bottled water by not letting us recycle them in recycle bins but instead have to do this horrible, expensive, time-wasting thing of going to a redemption center. These places have horrible hours – try opening at 4:30 and closing at 10 instead of opening at 10 and closing at 4:30. So I rush to get there with their horrible hours, and make it 4:15. I remember that the places are disguised as dumpsters or otherwise I would be searching for a while. I rush out hoping I just made it and the attendant tells me the place is closed. There was a line behind him too, meaning expect long lines at this place. I also learned from him the place shuts the automated machines down at 4:30 too and worse all this company’s automated machines are designed so they can’t handle gallon water containers. It’s always the same guy there. If I get here at 4:15 he says«We’re closed». There will also be a line. If I get there in the middle of the day, he says«I’m going to go to lunch later so I won’t take you.» I will have 12 plastic items when other people will have over 10 buckets of stuff. Other times he will say, «We aren’t taking plastics anymore, we’re full» and it’ll be 11am when he says this. This place also has the same terrible self-service machines: closed after hours and won’t take gallon plastic containers.(Their websites says they are open 24 hours a day and take them but the website lies.)

The attendant is ALWAYS incredibly nice and friendly, and even had some useful tips about using the self serve machines.

It’s a bit time-consuming to have to enter every bottle and can, one-by-one, but I enjoy the peace of mind that I’m being fairly credited for every one of them. I’m also SO glad to not have to remove every bottle cap like at NexCycle locations — which have very a disappointing payback. When I’m in a hurry, I still prefer to go to places like Delta Scrap & Salvage on Main St. in Oakley.
