Been here many times for breakfast and it’s usually very busy. Food is good and they give large portions. Went for lunch today and there was 6 tables seated. Waitress forgot our OJ, soda, and cinnamon roll. She didn’t offer ketchup to go with my fries and didn’t come to check on us half way thru our meal. As we were done is when she did and that’s when we told her we she forgot our drinks. They seem very friendly with some regulars.

Got the club sandwich and the chicken fried steak and eggs. Everything was delicious again! This time I got the regular buttered bus it, and it was huge, fluffy, and moist! I put apricot preserves in it and it was even more delicious! The staff is always so helpful and friendly! It really is the staple of downtown … but get there before it closes at 3pm. I’ve still to try the cakes and pastries, but everything look ms delicious, and I always see people taking little boxes of goodies home.

So, first things first: this place is the only decent breakfast spot in Brentwood. That being said, it’s ‘decent’ for a few reasons. Every time I’ve gone, it’s taken well over 30 minutes to get my food. And I could understand that if it was packed. But every time I’ve gone, under half of the tables had someone at them. Second, the waitresses aren’t terribly attentive. Coffee cups empty. Condiments missing. Food is great. And if you’ve got no other plans for the day, waiting a while isn’t a problem. But service isn’t the best. So, weigh your options.

Wait time is long, service could be better or should I say could be more efficient? But the breakfast eggs or anytime of the menu is usually good for 2 people, you could order one of the menu and ask them to split it between you and a friend/someone… like I said, long wait time, slow service, but my family loves it here! McDonalds a few minutes away if you don’t want to wait …

First thing is the biscuits and gravy, made in-house and the best I’ve had anywhere. Great wait staff and very nice family restaurant. This is a must do if your in the area like I was.

Went for breakfast with my wife and enjoyed a great meal. I was able to order«off menu», an item they used to have for specials and it was delish. Oh, the dish was Cinnamon french toast. They had underdone my wife’s eggs but the server quickly had a new set cooked up and we swapped them out. Overall good experience. The place is certainly busy always. Hard to find a nice place.

We love MJs! We never seem to have a problem getting in and the service has been great. They have a good selection of food and good coffee. Our go to breakfast place.

MJ’s is awesome! Great service every time I go in, all of the employees have wonderful service. The food is always perfect, and their pastries are to die for. 5 stars!

Ok so the first time we went here with my parents we got horrible service BUT the food was GREAT soooooo we decided to give them another shot and since then have had the same server multiple times with a much better attitude yay! We love to come here for breakfast. I wish they had an espresso machine tho! I usually get the CA benedict but once had their lemon ricotta crêpe or pancake special which was to die for! I really wish you guys would put it on the menu… you might even see more of us!!! My husband gets something different all the time and is always stoked on the outcome. We also loved their baked goods which we grab on the way out at times. I love the hometown charm the place has as well. And how accommodating they always are with us bringing the baby with our stroller. We come here probably at least once a month!

Monica(Owner) could be the greatest owner of All-Time. Knows how to run a restaurant, has a culinary background, and will treat you like family as long as you smile. Food: 10⁄10 — Enormous portions, satiating flavors. Would be my staple breakfast spot if only it was closer.

MJ’s was recommended by a friend who also shares a love for breakfast food. We came on a Sunday morning so of course there was a wait to be seated. The wait wasn’t too bad, probably about 25 minutes, which is what I would expect for Sunday brunch. When we finally got seated it took a while for our waitress to come to our table. I have to admit, that was a little annoying because a couple that got seated after us were already being served. I ordered the«Eggs Benedict» and it was delicious. The timing of when we received our food after ordering wasn’t too bad. The overall service at MJ’s is OK, but not the best. The staff at the cash register were a little rude and rushed(understandably) and our waitress wasn’t really present at all. It took us a while to finally flag her down to get our check and pay up front. Word of advice: don’t expect great service when you show up during normal breakfast hours(8am-11am) Monday — Sunday.

Breakfast served all day?! Rare. Especially at a local restaurant. I know chains like Black Bear, Denny’s and IHOP have no problem doing that. But even McDonald’s doesn’t serve breakfast all day… so kudos MJ’s! The food itself was decent. I ordered the«Spaniard Omelette» which has sour cream, bell peppers, chorizo, cheese, and onions all stuffed into a large, 3 egg pocket. With what seemed to be canned tomatoes drizzled over the top. The hash browns were delectable… crisped outer, soft inner. However, my rating had to be taken down a star for poor service. Upon entering the restaurant, you’re politely greeted and taken to your seats. But after that, you’re left alone for about 30 minutes. We were ready to order, but still no waiter. Maybe the restaurant is understaffed? But I did notice that there were a lot of bus boys, who I feel are absolutely qualified to take on server positions. And one waitress manning all of the tables! I do hope to give them another try though. They are in such a convenient location and have such a big menu of deliciousness to choose from!

I would never ever ever ever go here again. Waste of money time and experience. The waitress took forever to take our order. As soon as she was finished in the back doing God knows what 20 something minutes later she arrives a little less enthuse about her day and takes our order with her fake ass pleasant voice(I get it, you hate your job). To our dismay our food came out less appealing than her attitude. My BF got the BLT which should’ve been called BURNT w LOTS of TOMATOES. The tomatoes looked old(it started to look like water) and the pickled was no longer fresh. He took one bite and was done. The Food I had which was a Belgian waffle didn’t even look finish as when I removed all of the whip cream, the bread in the center wasn’t cooked. To top it off the floors was a mess(considering there looks to be 15 workers, surely one person can wipe the floors) and signs of flies in the restaurant area proves that they’re not that clean. The price was also a big WHOA maybe cause the whole experience was just nasttttieeeee NEVEREVERAGAIN!

Ordered a take-out lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the awesomeness that is the chickenstrip sandwich. When I opened my to-go box I peered in to see a large, soft, sandwich roll with 3(4?) chicken strips laying on a bed of lettuce, tomato and onion. It was great! Now, the fries that came with it weren’t as impressive. No satisfying crunch, not enough salt, but the sandwich definitely made up for it. If they could nail the fries next time I’d gladly award 5 stars. This place looked very busy, so ordering take-out seems like a good strategy for this place.

Do not go here if you are in a hurry or very very hungry. We were very very hungry and two places that, according to Unilocal were open, were closed and we spotted MJ’s and tried it. Ten minutes before our order was taken. Another twenty minutes to get fed. I was ready to turn cannibal. When it did come it was very good. We had ordered an omelet to share which was a good thing because it was huge. I do not think that this was an exceptionally busy day and there were a fair number of employees there so I do not know why it was so slow. Not just slow but impersonal. A smile and a welcoming attitude, an apology when needed can go a long way. Two stars for service, four for food = Three overall

I’ve been here twice, had the same server, and the worst service. The first time i got the french toast and a water. French toast was good, water was not. I told the server when we placed our order that we were gonna need separate checks(as a server myself, it’s appreciated when people tell me this in the beginning, so i thought i was helping her out; but no). She rudely said, «I’ll handle that later,» and walked away. She maybe checked on us once. Poor service. The second time i went was with my fiancé. I had the french toast with fresh strawberries. I was satisfied with my food. Water, again tasted weird. My fiancé ordered the NY steak sandwich with fries. He asked for it medium rare and with bbq sauce on it. The same rude waitress from the previous experience said that she would put it on the side… Not what he asked for but okay??? It came out 23 minutes later, well done, and literally smelled like fish! Gross! Our server didn’t check on us for at least another 10 minutes(she herself didn’t even drop off the food). When he told her that steak was bad, she said, «really? because we cut our own steaks!» Then she walked away. Wtf??? No apology, never offered to remake it or asked he wanted something else. After another 10 minutes she returned with the check. What the actual fuck. Worst service. The only reason this place has a star is because my meal wasn’t horrible and the place is cute inside. Will not return.

The food is tasty but the staff is really terrible and why I’m giving them 3 stars. They text on their phones while we watch them as we sit at the counter(we always sit at the counter). I’m talking about women in their late 40s(perhaps the owners). We have to beg for silverware, refills for iced tea, coffee, and water. We have always gone when they’re not busy and they still incessantly ignore their customers. It seems like the staff really enjoys hanging out and speaking with one another and ignore their customers. I will go again, but if we are ignored one more time I will definitely stop paying them for such expensive meals. It’s not worth it.

Just ate here for the first time in a tip from a friend. We got there at 9:00 on a Sunday and waited about 10 minutes for a party of 8. Just a note when we left about 10:00 the sidewalk outside was packed with people waiting put their name down. I don’t believe they take reservations but instead take names as you walk up. Now let’s get down to the food. Pancakes dominates the menu and that’s what I ordered. The«Half Plate» comes with 3 huge hot cakes the size of the entire plate, egg made to order, and a meat side — of course it was bacon! :). Everything was delicious. Hot and served quickly. I was hungry so I actually ate it all.(Oink) I also saw the huge Texas French Toast on my table. Everything really is bigger in Texas judging on the size of these babies. Even he kids Mickey Mouse pancakes are the normal huge size here. I doubt any little kid finishes he whole thing, plus it comes with bacon. But better to be full than leaving hungry. You will not leave hungry here. If you do, you ordered the wrong thing. LoL. I would come back here. Easy breakfast with plenty to eat. Note parking is on the street so look around. Also anticipate a wait during the weekend rush. Breakfast is served all day though, so don’t panic.

The place has good curb appeal. But it’s not comfortable because it’s all wood chairs and restraunt style tables. And it’s genuinely deep down dirty in the kitchen. Surprisingly though the bathrooms are decent. Anyway down to the service which was a real disappointment. The older woman who ran the cash register was the most helpful out of everyone. She greeted us, sat us, and even alerted our waitress we were being neglected. Our waitress never introduced herself so I can share her name– but she was older and seemed pretty cool but it appeared she was either a tougher personality or she was scowling, maybe I’m wrong and I read her wrong but we hardly saw any of her. Maybe she was over worked, she had a large area. The person that really rubbed be wrong was another waitress that was taller and an average build with light brown hair probably early 20’s. She avoided eye contact, did not stop even though I clearly tried to get her attention. What really pissed me off is she yelled at this younger Hispanic busser because he hadn’t gotten my neighboring table their waters yet. I mean be grateful lady he’s even paying attention! Geez! My food was served lukewarm and my extra crispy hash browns tasted like oil. My boyfriends chicken fried steak was hot but same situation with the potatos. Not to mention it looked like she added water to his V8– yuk. Apparently they don’t have flavored creamers or syrups which is weird because it’s called MJ’s café-? I will say I got an awesome hot chocolate– but only after it was obvious I was pissed. (The extra star was for the hot chocolate.$
