First time in today. Love this café! Husband had special of fried catfish and I had shrimp etoufee. Both were yummy. We split a piece of Coonie’s pie. Out of this world chocolate and coconut. The service and hospitality was first class. We’ll be back soon.

Excellent service, excellent food! Came in unexpectedly with our church group of 17. They quickly accommodated us had our drinks out and food in NOTIME. Everyone loved it. There was no bad plate. I ordered the first burger with the fried egg. Took a chance on coming here, so glad we did.

Come here! Trust me it’s amazing. Perfect whole in the wall place with great food. I would drive from Houston to eat at this place again.

Food was«ok» no complaints about the place but it’s nothing spectacular, looks like they have a few regulars and they get priority. The waitress was super nice to the kids, but the food was a bit bland and nothing awesome.

While I want to give this restaurant 5 stars because of the awesome chicken salad and great service I was so disappointed with the fried alligator. The alligator had no seasoning amd the batter was bland like long John silver fish batter. I would go back for the chicken salad but those alligator were not at all worth a repeat order.

If you’re in the mood for American home cooked food this is the spot. On Wednesday they have my favorite special the chicken and dumplings. Don’t leave without a pie!

Service=awesome Food=awesome We had perfectly sweet tea to start and from there it just got better. The hubby had the slaw burger and the most amazing onion rings I’ve ever put in my mouth. I had the crawfish étouffée. The small portion was just the perfect amount. Now for pie! We had the signature coonie pie which is a half chocolate and coconut pie with meringue. This pie puts church ladies to shame! Not only was the food and service amazing but the people were so nice that it felt strange not hugging them goodbye. We will be going there again on our travels down 290!!! And next time we will be giving hugs.

Great people! Service was awesome. Hubs had the Western omelet which was very big and full of meat with hash browns and toast. I had French toast which was really good but nothing special. Posted pics of both along with their breakfast menu. Got gumbo to go for supper and can’t wait to try that. Fantastic prices!

Rarely do I find a resturant where I can say I would drive 2 hours to just have lunch. Well this is one. The wonderful fresh southern down home cooking aside the staff was so inviting, warm & receptive that it equals the wonderful food. Don’t leave without having desert that they make fresh in house & be sure to take home a jar of the sweet mexican strawberries. I will be back & I will tell everyone I know!

What a gem to find in Brenham. I went for the Cajun fare and was glad I did. The crawfish étouffée was the best that I have ever eaten. It comes with just enough rice, and a beautifully crafted pistollette. I also was gluttonous and had a bowl of chicken and shrimp gumbo. The roux was delicious and dark, but lacked enough spice for my taste. With a bit of doctoring with Tabasco and some gumbo file, it was great. It had the perfect amount of rice, and it also came with one of those amazing pistollettes. I think I would rather eat one of those than a donut. Speaking of treats, they had some delicious looking pies. If I had another stomach I would have been all over one of those too!

Got to enjoy this great place today during my lunch break with my mother and brother. I absolutely love the southern hospitality these employees offer as well as their food. I had the«kick ass jalapeño burger» with the famous onion rings. This burger was NOT hot to where you could not stand it but spicy, sweet and flavorful. I did not however save any room for their dessert but can’t wait to try there homemade pies next time go round. Will return! :)

So good! The staff was so sweet! We had chicken fried steak, burgers, onion rings and of course, pie. It was all excellent! The only problem was we don’t live close enough to go again!

Gold mine! I tried the Bubba’s Jalapeño, and oh my, beautifully crafted! The onion rings were the best I’ve tried yet!

Overpriced. After reading the great reviews we stopped by for lunch while traveling through the area. Big disappointment! The special of the day was chicken and dumplings, it sounded good so we tried that. We got a tiny bowl that was ok, but not great and a small piece of cornbread. The dumpling tasted like the kind you can buy in a can. The boudin balls were good. But… for the price considering the quality and quantity I would not recommend it and don’t plan to return. Unilocal usually steers us to some good places but not this time. Previous reviews were misleading.

Awesome, quant place with fabulous home cooking. They’re open Mon-Fri 6 am-2 pm. Serving breakfast & lunch. You have to go, but get there early for lunch or after 1. Otherwise you may have to wait for a seat… Which you’ll want to wait b/c it’s that good

I ate there for the first time today, after seeing it for a few weeks and not really knowing what was going on inside. Clearly, the word is out. At 11:55, we took the only available table. Check their Facebook page for daily specials. We didn’t try the spaghetti, but instead had burgers. The bread was great, lettuce crisp, burger well made, just messy enough, and delicious. We saw a couple of huge slices of pie go past, but there was no room this time. I posted pics of the new menu-a little easier to read and prices slightly higher. Definitely try it out for lunch or breakfast.

Great lunch stop! At the moment, this is probably the best bet for lunch in all of Brenham.
