Got the family value meal with kalbi short ribs, bbq chicken, and katsu chicken. meal also comes with rice, macaroni salad, and cream cheese wontons. the portions were hugs and the quality on par with other hawaiian bbq places i’ve eaten at. i will go back.

I get the mini Kalbi short ribs every time I eat here and I love that the food is always consistent. The meat is juicy and flavorful. the mac salad is amazing. The ribs always tastes fresh and satisfying!

came in today & ordered a tempura cali roll, i assumed it was a California Roll w/shrimp tempura. after 20min wait they gave me my order & i noticed the rolls were deep fried. i frowned & told the waitress i ordered the wrong item. she said ‘sorry’ & then the mexican cook told her something in spanish & they looked at me laughing. bad enough i ordered wrong item but getting laughed at really sucks. not coming here anymore

I got the family meal and it comes with fried crab won tons… I asked to trade that side with a cheaper side order because my family does not like crab. The girl at the counter Naemi would not change that to something my family would eat. She said that’s the only thing I could get with the Family meal… Plus the meat had tons of fat on it. Bad customer service and fat all over the meat… don’t waste your time here! I also checked the Orange County Food and Safety report on this restaurant and they have multiple health violations. Check it out at food …

The food is usually pretty good here. I always get the beef and chicken BBQ combo. Today the chicken was amazingly good. It was fresh, soft, juicy, and full of flavor. The macaroni salad is always good here. It’s very similar to Ono’s macaroni salad.

My wife really likes this place. The chicken is good just wish it wasn’t the fatty parts.

First time here, last time as well. Customer service could need much improvement. Cashier was rude and hurry to get to the next. Looking around the restaurant can’t seem not to be bother by the filth behind counters and restroom. How do people eat here? If I’m going to pay $ 12 for food I expect a smile and a clean place l. Sorry those that think otherwise but I’ll pass on this place if I were you.

Hawaiian bbq Is good especially if you found a great spot like this one. It’s a different when u see Hawaiian bbq and sushi but I just went with it. The chicken was so tender and they don’thold back on the sauce. Egg rolls are bomb too. I just love their different sauces.

If you have a potluck at work or are just trying to be nice, but don’t have time to cook, this is where you come to impress your family or co-workers. You can feed 6 – 8 people for about 30 bucks. The family special is not for 4 people. It definitely feeds more. I was the nice person that brought this to work one day. And the next day a co-worker paid to have the same food for us. What can I say, it was a nice and fullfilling two-day feast. Pineapple chicken, teriyaki chicken and beef are all good. The macaroni salad is not too mayoish, it’s just right. The wontons are delicious too.

This place is so good. I prefer this BBQ rather than the one a mile from my house. The Katsu chicken and pineapple sauce is our favorite! The BBQ pork, Kalua pork and BBQ chicken are also really yummy. Maui has catered three or four of our parties and every time the food was warm, plentiful and delicious! Every guest has gone back for second and third servings! When we send out invitations they now ask, «Will you have Hawaiian again, will there be Kalua Pork and fried shrimp, all the good stuff?» YES! I have been to L&L a couple of times b/c it is closer and I was in a hurry but the food was not nearly as satisfying or yummy. It also does not taste as fresh as Maui BBQ. The employees are always pleasant as well. The only problem we have ever had is parking. Sometimes the parking lot is packed! During the week this is usually not a problem.

Every time I eat here I feel forced to because its pretty much the only place besides L&L. Ordering food is harder than teaching soccer to the handicap, and the cashier Naomi(?) has more attitude than Ms. Madea. If you’re dining in bring your favorite novel or a board game because you’ll be waiting foooooooorrrrrever!

Nowhere near as tasty as L&L, but they offer a lot of variety here and the prices are slightly cheaper. I ordered a bento box here, which was totally random, but it was actually pretty good. The teriyaki chicken was kinda dry and the California roll filling seemed especially cheap, but the miso soup, salad and tempura were all pretty standard for what you would expect. My husband tried their spam musubi, which was a pretty good deal — you get 2 pieces for less than $ 2! Unfortunately, the taste is reflected in the price, as they definitely weren’t up to par — they tasted pretty bland and unflavorful! If I’m craving Hawaiian food, I definitely would go to L&L first before trekking out of my way to go here. Not bad, but not good either.

Maui Hawaiian BBQ is my go to spot for some Hawaiian BBQ in the Brea area. Located off of Brea blvd and imperial hwy, it is very accessible. On weekends parking can be a nightmare, with movie theaters and bunch of other restaurants around. I mainly order one of few items and it has satisfied me every time. My selections are mainly either spam masubis, loco mocos, or their spicy tuna bowls. I enjoy this place wayyyyy better than L&L’s. I never had bad Mac salad here like other places. They also have the Hawaiian drinks, coconut water, energy drinks, as well as coke products. There is plenty of seating compared to other Hawaiian BBQ establishments. If you’re in the Brea area and want Hawaiian BBQ check this place out.

Im really disappointed I came here for some quick dinner after class I ordered the chicken katsu the cashier was ok but when I recieved my food the chicken seemed under cooked I let the cashier know and she said that it looks like that because its dark meat but that she was sure it was cooked… I’m pretty sure it wasn’t, it was way too rubery I had to take some pieces out of my mouth because I coudnt even chew them, the rice and macaroni were good but the chicken really disappointed me :/

My go to place! When I’m in Brea and can’t decide what I really want for lunch or dinner, it’s easy to go to this place and I’m never disappointed. I absolutely love the grilled chicken plate or the salmon plate. They give you a pretty sizable amount that makes it worthwhile. All plates are under $ 10 so you don’t have to stretch the dollar. One thing wrong, and it’s not the fault of the restaurant… the parking is horrible, I often have to drive around or park far. Unfortunately, there’s so much stuff crammed in this tight area.

Run of the mill Hawaiian BBQ chain. The teriyaki chicken was rubbery, service was slow, and the sauce and veggies lacked umami. Parking can be tough as it is located in downtown Brea. Good to satisfy your craving. Then make a note to yourself to try a better place. I tend to like the mom and pops more, but if you’re looking for a chain, Ono Hawaiian BBQ has better quality food and service IMHO.

Funny how I’ve been here several times and still haven’t tried any of their BBQ items or the chicken katsu. That’s because I can’t get over their rice bowl deals — especially the spicy tuna with brown rice and pickled cucumbers for only $ 6.50! It even comes with miso soup. My kids love their spam musubi which is made fresh so the seaweed stays crispy. They’re only $ 1 on Wednesdays, too. Good lookin’ out fellow Unilocalers. I don’t think I would have tried this place had it not been for you!

This H-BBQ spot is similar to most other H-BBQ spots… Typically, I order the seafood mix which comes with: By default: 1. Rice(two scoops) 2. Mac salad(one scoop) 3. Some cabbage. I think it’s for decoration or to buffer all the nasty stuff like fat or extra juices. Seafood Mix: 1. Scrimps(three pcs) heavily battered. the shrimp is puny. 2. Mahi(two pcs) Very good, i like this the most 3. Meat — I normally pick teri pollo. The portions are huge. The plate can be heavy. All this for $ 9 and $ 11ish with soda. The mac salad is a hit or miss. Sometimes it’s awesome, other times its just mayo on a stick. The fried foods are good and the teri pollo is highly under-rated. I’ve also had the katsu which isn’t my fav here. The galbi, spare ribs, is decent. Not overly seasoned which is my preference. The beef just sucks. Spam musubi is good here but my mom makes a killer musubi so paying $ 4 for two pcs of musubi is no thanks. Hope this helps. Happy grubbing peeps.

When it comes to Hawaiian BBQ, I have to admit that Maui seems to have an edge over L&L. I’m sad to say though that Maui Hawaiian BBQ has only 2 locations in Orange County, otherwise I’d be frequenting them a lot more than the competition. Here’s what I believe sets them apart. Condiments — Whereas L&L locations nickel and dime for sauces and utensils, Maui does not. Even a side of Gravy is FREE, just ask kindly. I was pleasantly surprised to see an ample supply of items available at my disposal. When a business respects you by placing a certain amount of trust in the idea that you’ll only take what you need, I’ll return the favor by doing just that. Dining Area — Spacious and inviting. There are a few booths available for comfort. When you get the feeling that they want you to dine in, you’ll probably just end up doing that anyway. For all the Unilocalers that wrote about rude and unhelpful workers, those employees must have had the day off when I visited. Macaroni Salad — I’ve had my fair share of macaroni salad in my day, but theirs is pretty damn awesome. I always imagined this side dish to have the perfect balance of mayo, soft macaroni, and briny taste without being too salty. Maui’s rendition by far is a prime example. Variety — You got Chicken, Beef, Pork, Seafood, and several combos of plates that mix and match all of them. They also have rice bowls, noodles, salads, and burgers/sandwiches. All the plates come with steamed rice(white or brown), macaroni salad, and steamed cabbage. You can add steamed vegetables for 50 cents extra. This concept of the Mini Meal intrigues me, which is basically one scoop of the sides and your single choice of meat, for a portion of the price. Sushi Rolls — Although, it’s not on their menu, sushi rolls, rice bowls, bento plates, grilled fish, and noodles are available as well. With so much to choose from, there’s bound to be something that catches your eye. Take Out — The Maui Family Meal($ 28.99) provides a hearty meal for 4 and for larger parties, catering is a great option. Last week at work, we did just that for Valentine’s Day and it was a huge hit. Orders may require advance notice and a 50% deposit is required.
