Overly spiced and salted, unsympathetic staff… Eggplant was nicely smoked hummus unremarkable other Turkish salads okay. Salad dressing not any thing to brag about We probably won’t return

Holy cow! Food here is excellent, well thought out, fresh and delicious. I had crab cakes and a marinated steak salad– I didn’t request a specific cook to the steak, came out medium rare which is perfect, but I know my wife would prefer more medium. Staff was cool/friendly and quick

We went here looking for a meal that would not be too heavy for us. I’m glad that we stopped in. Service was very attentive and friendly. They checked in to make sure that we were OK consistently and catered to our needs. I had the lamb salad which was just perfect. The lamb was perfectly cooked over a nice bed of greens with goat cheese. And the vinaigrette was delicious. The khafa was also delightful. They were lamb meat patties with rice, onions and a yogurt sauce on the side. The turquoise Grille Margarita was a little on the tart side but overall still very good.

Want some entertainment? Ask to speak to the manager and tell her your food is wrong, then sit back and watch the fireworks. Short Version: If you’re going to dine here, be prepared to receive food incorrectly prepared, horribly poor service, and to be screamed at by the owner as she throws the bill at you. Long Version: Visiting from Los Angeles, and I’ve never been to Brattleboro. Family enjoyed their previous visits here, so we went. We were seated and got waters. We had a few questions and asked for more water when we ordered our appetizer. After asking 3 times, we finally got water refills. My cousin had ordered the Concubine’s Revenge burger, extra well done, with salad. Her son ordered the same burger, medium well, but with fries. When the food came, my cousin cut her burger open and it was raw. I love a rare steak and a medium burger, but this burger was raw beyond even my liking. She put her salad on a separate plate, and planned to send the burger back once our server came, but the server literally never came back to our table again. After 10 minutes, i took my cousin’s plate and walked to the kitchen. There was no one to be found, so i stuck my head around the corner and spoke to the chef. I said sorry, but that I couldn’t find our server and that we ordered the burger extra well done and it was raw. We waited 35 minutes, with empty glasses and empty plates. Our server never came to apologize or even check on us. At one point, she did walk by, but didn’t even glance our way as she walked out. It should be noted that in this time, another table was seated next to us. It was apparent one of the girls that were at that table worked at the restaurant, as she got up to get her own plate, etc, while there. Finally, the burger was brought out, but we were completely finished with the rest of our food, and had no interest in the burger. I informed the waitress that we wouldn’t need the burger any longer and asked to see the manager. The manager came to the table and I honestly didn’t get one sentence out. I started to say«We’ve waited too long for the burger», but the owner interrupted me and said«That burger was cooked perfectly the first time». It actually made me laugh audibly, as it was definitely a raw burger. I said«It was actually very raw». The owner was SOCERTAIN it was cooked perfectly, she said«I looked at it myself. You wait, I’ll go get it and show you». Within seconds, she came back and said«Ok, you were right, it was raw». I asked her why she said she’d looked at it when it was clear she didn’t. She yelled«I TAKEMYSTAFF’S WORD!». I stated that was great, but that obviously in this case, she was misinformed and has now made the situation worse by shouting at me and lying about looking at the burger. She just walked away. I looked to my family member and said«Now what happens?». At this point, the girl at the next table says, «What exactly do you want to happen?» in the rudest tone. I said«Well, first, I’m not paying for the burger, but this actually doesn’t concern you». She started arguing with me and at that point, I just ignored her. Suddenly the owner comes back, throws the black binder that holds the bill onto the table, hitting my glass, and shouts«YOUSWITCHEDTHEBURGERS!» I stated that they were both ordered more well done than that and she just kept screaming«YOUSWITCHEDTHEBURGERS!!! YOUDON’T COMEBACK!!! YOUSWITCHEDTHEBURGERS! I OWNTWORESTAURANTS! YOUSWITCHEDTHEM!!». She then grabbed her coat and stormed out the front door. We were left completely aghast and our chins were on the floor. Then a man came and started to clear our table, and said«I’m going to need you to leave». I told him I would pay the bill less the ruined burger and that I would leave. That was literally the first sentence I was able to complete since the scenario began. I left the restaurant completely stunned and honestly feeling like i was on some sort of hidden camera show. At no point did I raise my voice, at no point did I shout at anyone, and at no point was I permitted to participate in a discussion. I have lived all over the country and have NEVER been treated like this and have never seen anyone behave that way. It was completely insane. I thoroughly believe the previous reviewer that said they were yelled at by her for leaving brunch a few weeks before. This woman is a loose cannon and I honestly feared for my safety at one point, with the manager and the woman at the next table ganging up on us. I predict there will be MANYMANY more complaints about this woman. What a blight on a beautiful town like Brattleboro.

Yum, yum yum! I work in Brattleboro and this is one of my favorite downtown spots for lunch. The lamb salad is my go-to. Delicious and filling!

Great food. A nice French inspired chèvre chaud goat cheese salad. Hand cut fries with a juicy burger. Delish crab cakes. Fast too! And terrific service.

Today was my first visit to this lovely Turkish restaurant and God willing, it won’t be my last. I highly recommend it, the food is authentic and the staff friendly and competent. I had the dipping sampler, the grilled lemon chicken and artichokes, and baklava. All portions were ample and the prices reasonable also considering the freshness of everything including the greens and vegetables that were included here and there.

Great service, great menu, fresh ingredients, and great owners. Polish off your meal with a great local beer or drink made by a local owner/bartender. This café embodies new and old Brattleboro.

We’ve dined here several times and are great fans of their kabobs — chicken, swordfish or lamb all are great! We especially like the appetizer Borek — spinach, potato in pastry and the Turkish dipping platter with a tasty combo of walnut pepper dip, hummus, eggplant salad and haydari –a feta cheese and garlic dip served with toasted pita bread. The one thing that could stand improvement is the unadorned white rice that accompanies the kabobs. A bit of spice or sauce would make it worthy of a spot on the plate.

We stopped by here while walking through downtown. The cuisine was unexpected(legit Mediterranean in a small VT town?) But so delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

Just ate at Turquoise Grille in Brattleboro & had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I live in Massachusetts but will be back very soon for another dinner. The Concubine sauce on my burger was outstanding. It should be bottled!

Casual but somehow still cosmopolitan, this restaurant is my favorite in town for a quick bite or date night. They have fun drink specials, refreshing iced teas, and the best baklava I’ve ever had. For dinner, I love their kofte(I think I’m spelling that right): lamb sliders with Turkish seasonings.

Just had a really nice lunch here. Hummus sandwich was so fresh! Lamb shish kabob was excellent and the fries were hand-cut. Kids had a burger and hot dog and they loved it. Totally recommend this place! Along with the local Hermit Thrush beers!

Overpriced and deceptively a la carte. My wife and I went for lunch. When we looked at the menu and saw the décor, we expected to pay about $ 20 for our meals(plus tip). It ended up being $ 30 plus tip. The server, through her wording when we ordered, led us to believe that the choice of fries or cole slaw came with the meal, but when we got the bill they were a la carte. I had the hummus sandwich, which was fairly good. I ended up taking off the olives because they were overpowering. The other flavors in it were well balanced: hummus, grated cheese, green peppers, and sprouts on good gyro-type bread. My wife got a burger, which she ordered medium rare and which came medium well(pretty much no pink). The fries were good(I got sweet potato and she got plain). They were well-salted and soft cooked. It wasn’t nice enough to go back to if we wanted a more expensive meal and was too expensive for an every day lunch, so we probably won’t go back.

Brattleboro is always the usual stopping point between my hometown in Connecticut and my aunt’s house near Burlington. I was already exhausted from traveling up from NYC to Connecticut, so by the time we got to Brattleboro, I was clamoring for some good food! Of course, the Unilocal Elite in me looked up a few places in town before arriving, but Turquoise Grill was near where my mom happened to park the car.(I’ll save all of those bookmarks for another time. Haaa.) We entered, and it was pretty empty, but the menu looked promising. I forget our waiter’s name, but he was very friendly and on the ball; I was almost a little thrown off by his chattiness, admittedly, but I was just ravenous at that point and let my extroverted mother carry on the conversation. Haha. ;-) It was nice to come to a place with some Mediterranean options, as I was just expecting to stumble into a burger or pizza place. I ordered the Seared Goat Cheese salad, which was done up well with fresh greens and perfectly breaded and cooked goat cheese rounds, served with a tangy vinaigrette. My mama went a bit away from Mediterranean and ordered the Bratwurst, like a boss. Papa, on the other hand, went for the a grilled lime chicken sandwich, wrapped in fluffy flatbread. Both of their plates looked amazing and I regret not grabbing a few bites. However, the piece de resistance was the Börek: spinach, feta, and potato, rolled into logs and wrapped in phyllo. We split a plate among the three of us, practically fighting for the final bite. Served with a nice buttermilk ranch dressing on the side, I almost regret not simply ordering a few plates of that and going to town. Ha!(My salad was a little well balanced, at least.) This place is certainly a little charmer in the middle of town. We all walked away beyond pleased, ready to continue our highway journey up north. My parents frequent southern Vermont a bit more than I do, and they said they would absolutely come back here to eat again. If I ever make it away from NYC to the Green Mountains again, I would come back again as well.

A new restaurant in town. We wanted to try it out and stopped in for brunch. Menu wasn’t brunchy enough for the family. We left, intending to return at a better time to try the place. We returned one evening 2 weeks later. The owner remembered us leaving. She yelled at us. Brattleboro has bad service in its businesses, sure. But this? Borderline psychotic. Sad, because the place looked a little promising. Sigh.

I think this place is brand new, decided to take a chance… Long story short, the food is excellent and the smell of burgers when you walk in is intoxicating! I got a sultan’s demise burger and sweet potato fries and my fiancé got a veggie burger, we were both very happy with the presentation and preparation of the food. It was a little pricey given the burgers don’t come with fries, but the food was totally worth it and the service of was friendly and fast. We would both go here again given the chance, no complaints!
