Go DuVig go! Love the Cream Ale(not a Stout… the Ale was delicious as I typically go Stout)…a great, humble(2 year old) start-up and a great take on a new approach to bevs for me(«session beer»…low APV and big on taste throughout your«session» which thanks to the balance can go a tick longer than you may have expected — most likely at home after taking a growler and not in the tasting room which is a little small… for now). Will keep an eye on this place and you can find them at a surprising number of local food favs throughout Hartford, New Haven and Middlesex Counties in CT.

I found a groupon for this tiny little place and I was not disappointed! 3 friends and I stopped in for a sample of 4 different types of beer. We all chose our own favorites and we went home with full growlers! The«bartender» if you will, was very pleasant and so informative. I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it was tiny, Lol… But it was a great Sunday«pop in». I recommend this spot for when u have an hour to kill

Compared to it’s sister brewery down the street — Duvig Beer Brewing Company might be a place that you pass by thinking what good can come from a brewery that is unairconditioned and can fit maybe 10 people(standing) comfortably. If that is your mindset then, please continue to drive on by and leave this hidden gem of a brewery to the rest of us craft loving folk. Yes — all of the above is true but what Duvig does, and does well is brew traditional session beers, the kind I like to call ADB(all day beers). They are not looking to brew the craziest beer with jalapenos or other crazy ingredients. They make beer that is palatable to those just looking for something cold, refreshing and tasty I had previously tasted their beer at a Craft Brew 5k last year in New Haven and was impressed but tasting it directly at their brewing location was definitely better. I was able to taste their Moxie Ale, Brown Ale, Pale Ale and my personal favorite, the Cream Ale. The employees were super nice — chatting with my husband and I as a somewhat steady stream of patrons flowed through the space. DuVig is a true Connecticut brewery that is pretty much as local as you can get.(it is owned by two families). So if you are into local business and love beer, swing on down to see what Duvig is all about.

Duvig is awesome. In a day and age where beer makers are obsessed with making the hoppiest and most bitter beer in the universe, it’s awesome to find people who just choose to instead make good beer. Whatever your taste, they have several varieties to choose from including a seasonal. If you are not sure, try a flight, you can’t go wrong with the price. I am a big fan of the Brown Ale and the just released bock is fantastic. Duvig specializes in session beers(meaning the percent of alcohol is lower to average) with the highest being a tad over 6% and the lowest being 3.8%. Again, a nice change from the hopmaster 5000 beers being brewed at 14%. One negative factor called out by a few people is that the tasting room is small but it’s comfortable. A big plus is that Duvig is made by 2 hardworking families who couldn’t be nicer. You will enjoy their company as you sample great beers.

Really nice owners /employees. They are charmingly small — and by small I mean you can fit maybe 10 people semi-comfortably in the tasting room — but after all, the rent is still TOODAMNHIGH, so I can’t really fault them for this! Their focus on sessions is definitely unique and I like it! And I don’t usually like cream ales, but I liked theirs which I think is impressive. The IPA was great as well.

This place is small in size but the beer is big in character! Great staff. Always make it a stop when I’m in the area to either get a glass or a growler! They now sell great gear to go with the great beer!

Not a great destination but certainly great beer. My wife loves the stouts and I love the brown ale. A very good small brewery. Stop by and fill a growler or just buy their beer in any CT bar.

Small place but worth stopping by. The beer is good the staff is nice. Not really a tour but rather a sampler type deal. Really cool glasses that are worth buying.

DuVig session ales are nothing short of perfection, Traditional styles, what a perfect selection. Of the breweries in Branford, this place is the best, With a staff nicer than a Disney princess. Came in on a Friday night before painting the town red. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. DuVig recently changed their tasting prices and procedures. For $ 5 you will now get a wooden paddle with all four of the draft beers served in pretty large cups. You can also sample the beers for free in smaller, shot-sized cups, but you are better off paying the $ 5 for the larger samples. They have also done away with the frequent-buyer cards and will now give you $ 1 off a growler fill if it is a Duvig growler. All of the beers served by DuVig are easily drinkable session-style ales(less than 5% ABV each), but they are all HUGE on flavor. Because they are session-style, you can take sip after sip while enjoying the spot-on flavors and aromas without having to deal with any lingering flavors or heavy feelings in the pit of your stomach. The beers are only made with traditional ingredients– hops, wheat, corn, grain, water, and yeast. No coriander, no jalapenos, no cinnamon– just the way beer was intended to be brewed. The beers also don’t have any crazy names like Colonel Pat’s Potent Peach Pale Ale. The beers are named according to their style. When I went they had the American Style Wheat, Cream Ale, Brown Ale, and Pale Ale. I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite, but I can tell you that I bought a growler on Friday night and then went back the next day to fill up two more. The staff was great on both Friday and Saturday nights. Very welcoming, customer-focused, and passionate about beer. A new Top-3 brewery for me in Connecticut.

Great little brewery in Branford. We stopped in after doing a cruise of the Thimble Islands. We had previously had a taste of their beers at the Beer Festival at Eli Cannon’s, but this gave us a chance to learn more about the beers. Now I’m not sure if this comes across as an insult or a compliment(it’s meant as a compliment): but I really don’t like beer. However, I really did like the beer at Duvig. I’m more of a wine and cider girl in general, and hate any beer that is too hoppy. Don’t even try to get me to taste an IPA, it’s not happening. But the beers at Duvig are so smooth and good. I even bought a growler of their pale ale. For myself. To drink. Really. It was smooth and sort of fruity, no bitterness or hoppy after taste. We got to try 3 beers on tap, their cream ale, brown ale and pale ale. I liked them all, but liked the pale ale the most. The bonus: I didn’t have to dip into my secret purse stash of pretzels even once during the tasting!(Usually for me it’s sip, wince from bitterness, sneak a pretzel, repeat) My husband(the beer fan and the reason we were here in the first place) liked them all as well. He also ambitiously tried the 4th available«special» beer, I don’t remember the name, something German, and it was a sour beer. I refrained from that one to leave it on a high note! But the group of guys who came in before us, one left with a growler of that beer and said it was his favorite. The tastings were free and the ladies serving up the samples were wonderful. Definitely stop in whenever you’re in the area! Or if you don’t find yourself down that way, check out their website for spots where you can get their beer, or to find out when they’ll be at an event near you for tastings.
