Service was fine. Ambiance also fine. Drinks were watery and not outstanding. The problem with this restaurant is tasteless food. Our party ordered 5 different entrees and none of them were even mildly acceptable. We were there for a family Birthday dinner, so we didn’t make a fuss, but really could not eat the seriously awful food. Mexican food, though not fancy, should at least have some flavor.

I was so impressed with Chuck’s! The margaritas were amazing. My pulled pork burrito hit the spot. Their guac is great and comes with plenty to snack on and add to your meal! The host and bartender(only two people we dealt with) were friendly and so efficient. We were in and out with two rounds of drinks, appetizer, and entrees within an hour! Can’t wait to come back.

I go here to eat at least once a week, everything is great, especially the staff. The bar prices are a lot better then most of the places I’ve been in Connecticut. As suggested by their name they make an awesome margaritas! I would rate it higher but 5⁄5 will have to do!

Let’s begin with the good… our server, Christine or Cristina, was very friendly and attentive. She was the best part of the restaurant experience. The ambiance was nice. My husband and I like to chat when we go out to dinner so the place where we were seated was quiet and comfortable. The things that made us feel like we did not care if we returned… the food was bland. Nothing stood out to us. The rice was under cooked, the greens looked sad and the condiments were missed. My burrito had a sauce on it that I had never had tasted before on burritos and my husband’s tacos did not have sour cream on it which we thought was standard for tacos. The margaritas were forgettable and I have had better ones at other places around town. The meal was about $ 55 for both of us which we thought was a bit much for what we actually got in the end.

Terrible service, over priced food, and very weak drinks. I came here with a group of four. We were forgotten about multiple times. Never got utensils until we asked. Also we were never served any drinking water. When we asked for water the waitress’s brought us only 1 cup. And ran away. Place was not busy so there is no excuse for the terrible service. There are a lot of good Mexican restaurants in the new haven area. This is not one of those places.

Went on a whim to grab some Mexican around 9 at night. Food wasn’t that great, seemed like they threw it in the microwave to heat it up. Flavor was bland. Probably wouldn’t go back.

I hadn’t been Here in years and m my fiancé and I thought we’d try it. Never going back. They didn’t offer waters when we sat down(had to ask after 10 mins), but did bring chips right away. We ordered the mini chimis, they were ok. Can’t really mess up fried and cheese. They didnt bring plates with the app so we had to ask. The plates were dirty. Then 2 minutes after the app came out, out meals came out. I had the ribeye add he had the fajitas. The rice was hard. I had to. mix in salsa and guac to salvage it and the steak was watery and NO flavor. Aren’t they a steak house!!! So I ordered a side of sauteed peppers and onions to rescue the steak and those weren’t seasoned!!! My fiancé said the fajitas were bland too. My fiancé wanted fried ice cream… well they prefry it and then freeze it again. Its not warm when you get it, so huge disapointment. I ordered a tropical magarita blended, and it was just a watery mess. Couldn’t taste any pineapple or coconut. $ 70 would have been better suited to do many other things. I don’t want to say what I’m thinking. Ugh! So disappointed.

Today I am not rating the food nor the drinks. I am rating the bartender– white guy, brown hair, kind of stocky in a soccer shirt(Emirates?) who went to great lengths to make me a type of skinny margarita on Sunday 6⁄14. I am particular — and by that I mean I can be a total pain in the ass. Low calorie and full of flavor. He came up with something with Don Julio, coconut but not a lot of sugar, fresh squeezed lemon and lime in place of margarita mix, splash of soda and skipped the triple sec. You sir deserved your big tip and will get another one next time we come back. I felt like he would have bent over backwards to make me a great drink. He could have rolled his eyes and said«we can’t do that, all we have is XYZ» if he didn’t feel like it, but he was the bomb and so was his drink.

Late night menu is nothing but grease, cheese, and no flavor. Yuck! Our first and last time here.

We(my wife, one of her friends, and myself) visited this restaurant this past Sunday afternoon near the end of their happy hour. My wife’s friend has been there before, so we went on her recommendation. We sat out on the patio, and we’re the only patrons out there on what was a slow day(or at least a slow time); as there were only about 12 – 15 people in the establishment altogether. We all had items off the lunch menu, as well as each of us having different margaritas. The food was good, hot, and tasty. The portions were good for a lunch size. The drinks were what you’d expect — nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either; just what you’d expect. Overall, all three of us were pleased with the food, drinks, and service. We’d definitely come back!

Four of us at work ordered take out. I called in 2 top round sirloins, a salmon and a filet mignon. A half hour later when we went to pick it up we were told there was no salmon and no fillet mignon. I called back and asked why didnt you tell me before we picked it up? Was told that the guy who took my order went home… whatever that has to do with it. I changed the order to 4 top sirloins, 2 with mexican rice and veg, 2 with fries and veg. When we ot our $ 90 order back to the shop, 2 steaks were stone cold, musta been the first 2 they didn’t bother to heat up for us, and there was no veg, and no salad for any of them… it looked like a pathetic waste of money. That was confirmed when we tried to eat the mexican rice. It was so old and dried out it tasted uncooked. The things i assumed were tomatoes where just drie up and hard. I called and asked for a manager and was told he’d call… i also sent an email laying out what i just wrote. No call back or reply. They have a good crowd there unusually and we figured we’d splurge and eat there, but apparently our money was a bother to them… thats ok, theres lots of good places around and they obviously don’t give a shit about their locals

Decided to try this place out when my boyfriend and I couldn’t make up our minds on what to eat. We both tried the super burrito. It was basically a big pile of slop. It really was barely edible. Our waitress was a nice girl but their employees need to be trained a little better in the hospitality department. Especially, your«host» whose sole job is to be pleasant and greet customers. The first person you see when you walk in a restaurant should be welcoming and joyful, this person seemed like he would rather be ANYWHERE but there. I would also recommend having your waitstaff/host have some sort of dress code because it’s hard to distinguish who even works there. It wasn’t the WORST experience I’ve ever had, but I don’t see myself ever coming back here. I could get better«Mexican» food at Taco Bell.

I’ve been coming here often for 15+ years. Best staff, great food and something for everybody. I could go for some fajitas right now, too bad I live so far away. But was there last Thursday when I came into town for a few days.

I am always fairly pleased with a trip to any of the Chuck’s in CT. The food and drinks are always pretty good. All the restaurants are pretty accommodating for large parties as well. My soccer team came here for dinner and drinks after our game on a Sunday. Our server that night was great. He kept our mugs and glasses filled and brought us lots of chips and salsa while we waited for our food. We were pretty ravenous. Their food is pretty standard Mexican fare, but always pretty good.

So I have to update my review, and not for the better… the last couple times I have dined and drank here I have been highly disappointed each time. To start, the food has gone extremely downhill. I got the nachos and they were just a pile of microwaved cheese topped with huge portion of sour cream and gauc, with refried beans on the bottom… I jusy really didn’t get the concept. My boyfriend got the chimechanga which was obviously frozen. not very flavorful and everything is put on the same plate and yet again it becomes a pile of sloppy mush. The margaritas are nothing special either. Just too sweet, unnatural colored, not authentic margaritas. The past couple times I have come here I just stick to beer which is always a safe bet. Food wise thou the queso fiesto I still love, and the cheese crisps are also pretty good. Overall I think margaritas is an average bar, nothing super special about it, nothing that makes me want to come back here to eat, or choose this place to drink on my night out. I’m not gonna say I won’t come back here cause I probablly will, it’s just deffinetly not one if my favorite places anymore.

this place was great for decent Mexican and a nice bar atmosphere. There Margharitas are ok and I no longer go here.

It’s alright is the easiest way to sum this place up. Better than Chilis, but there are better options in the immediate surrounding area. Apps here are solid, entrees are okay. The margaritas are on point(hence the name). Plus there is outdoor seating, the scenery is a run down crack hotel & a rub and tug massage joint — but nonetheless. This is a stomping ground for Branfordites, so avoid this place like the plague if you’re trying to avoid someone from North Branford or Branford. It’s the place people stop in before they go out so avoid Friday and Saturday evenings if you’re not 32 trying to relieve the good olé days here.

Chuck’s is located in an area that looks like you are driving into to buy meth or pick up a hooker on the down low. If the horrifying aesthetics don’t scare you away once you get inside everything else will. We ordered a margarita and a beer. The margarita was flavorless and tasted like a highschool kid mixed it. The salsa that came with the chips was actually pretty good. Other than that there’s nothing good to say about the food at this restaurant. The boneless chicken wings look like something you would get out of a freezer bag, and the cheese inside of the quesadilla clearly either came out of a can or some other scary thing. In summary the food is almost edible but not really and happy hour is great for someone who’s out of state. Semi acceptable if you’re on the highway and desperate.

Ate here for the first time, with the other half. Overall, 3 stars. Decent, but far cry from ‘real’ Mexican. Waitress & kitchen accommodated special dietary needs requests, no problem. The tortilla chips were homemade and served hot & crispy. A+ for that. A tad dark for my tastes, but I’ll guess promoting the Cozey feel

This place isn’t spectacular by any means, but the food is on the better side of decent and prices are reasonable. Their house made salsa is tasty, the margaritas are good for the price, and I’d recommend the fish tacos. When I have the drunk munchies I opt for their chicken tenders with buffalo sauce on the side, other than that it’s just standard tex-mex. Their happy hour is great, I’ve never left this place even a little bit sober, broke, or disappointed. It’s what you’d expect, but a little bit better.
