I have seen this restaurant many times but finally took my kids to lunch there a week ago. I will admit, I have never been to Germany, so I do not know how authentic it is, but I can say we loved it! Two of my girls are very picky eaters. The complain about everything. I was a little worried that they would revolt when they realized there wasn’t cheese burgers and chicken nuggets on the menu. I talked them into trying a schnitzel by telling them they tasted like chicken nuggets. The food came. My oldest daughter, who loves most food, devoured hers and talked about how delicious it was. My twins — they were skeptical. They finally tried the food and ate almost everything on their plate(OK — the kids size portions are large), and what they didn’t finish my older daughter did. I had the Schnitzel Jeager Art — so amazingly good! I was packed but I did finish all it and still wanted more(even though I was in pain). Can’t wait to take my husband and son there to try it. Great food. Loved it!

Awesome place!!! It’s very German, and I should know being German and having actually lived there! Everything I’ve tried on the menu was Awesome and authentic! I never order deserts when I eat in American restaurants: but here at Taste of Berlin I always get one of the amazing deserts that just takes me right back home! The staff are also German with good English skills, they are friendly and love engaging with the customers! It’s got a true German feel with the German Radio running in the background with some Schlager Musik! HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISPLACEFORANYOCCASION!

Köstlich!(Delicious!) For review #999, I had a delightful lunch at Taste of Berlin. Sehr gut!(Very good) We were greeted warmly in German, chose a lovely grapefruit bier, light and fruity. Wednesday is the Schnitzel Special Day. My friend enjoyed the Jaeger Schnitzel(breaded pork with a mushroom gravy). I chose the goulash that had a wonderful flavor with melt in your mouth beef. The warm red cabbage was delicious and the spiral spaetzle noodles were homemade and cooked perfectly. Our lunch meals ran about $ 17-a very fair price for this ethnic home cooking but elegant treat. Next time, it’s the sausage! We are new fans!

Stopped in alone for dinner on a Thursday. Nice 50 or so seat restaurant in a strip mall with a small outdoor seating area that is in the evening sun so that may not work well on some nights. I was promptly seated and placed my drink order. I like drier wines and was in the mood for a white, so with slight trepidation I ordered the German dry white. It was very nice-not at all sweet and a good compliment to my meal. The evening special was Wiener schnitzel. I’ve been fortunate to have this in some of the oldest German restaurants in the US and in European restaurants and this one was on par with those. The veal was very tender and had a nice light breading that was perfectly pan fried and served with a lemon. It came with fried potatoes that were flavored with onions and spices. I asked for some ketchup and was served a very interesting and tasty curry ketchup. Service was very friendly and efficient. Sine I was dining alone both waitresses stopped by to assure me my meal would be out soon-I wasn’t in a hurry as I was enjoying my wine and pretzels that were set out while I was waiting. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. A great German option!

Great German Restaurant! My gf found this place while we were on vacation in Florida. I ordered the schnitzel«Berlin» and my gf had the Sauerbraten. The Schnitzel was great. It wasn’t dried out like some schnitzel’s get when fried. Also, the French fries that came with it were amazing! The Sauerbraten was even better. Typically when we order sauerbraten at German spots the sauce/gravy isn’t actually sour. This gravy was perfect, it had a hint of sourness just like the sauerbraten my mom made as I was growing up. Also, they had a good selection of authentic German beers. I definitely recommend this place for authentic German food!

Cannot say enough good things about this place. The service was amazing and food was authentic. I was with a small group and we sampled everything on the appetizer list. Even the fried parsley that was used as a garnish was out of this world! I would definitely come back to visit this hidden gem!

Let me preface this by saying I’m not a huge German food fan. I had yet to truly enjoy anything I’d had in the past at other restaurants, but my husband loves it, so I indulge him at times. I went in, thinking this experience would be another disappointment. Wow, I was SO wrong! We were there around 5:30 on a Friday night, and it was not too busy. We were seated immediately and our server(sorry, can’t remember her name but she was a very pretty blonde German lady) was extremely friendly and helpful as far as recommendations and accurate dish descriptions. I ordered the Rindergulasch with spaetzle and red cabbage. It was fantastic! The beef was fork tender, the gravy a very dark, rich brown, the spaetzle tasted as if it might have been lightly pan fried for the slightest crunch and the red cabbage was the perfect blend of vinegar and sweet. Hubby ordered the veal schnitzel special, which was a huge portion, but he kept stealing bites of my dish because it was just that tasty. For dessert, I wanted to try the plum cake, which was highly recommended by our server, but hubby really wanted to try the strudel. I am not a big apple anything fan, but this was large enough to share, stuffed full of fresh apples, wrapped in a very light pastry, served piping hot with vanilla sauce and whipped cream. Hubby loved it. What I liked was it was not overly sweet, and probably my favorite part was the one sugar crusted spearmint leaf that added a really nice flavor enhancement to the apples. We did not partake in any alcohol, and this may sound weird, but even the water was tasty. It was obviously not plain tap water because it and the ice were crystal clear with not one trace of chlorine or any odors. The chef even came out to ask if we were enjoying everything, which is a professional, classy touch. I cannot wait to go back, and doggone it, I’m trying that plum cake next time! Hubby(forgot to mention this earlier-had lived a few years in Germany so knows good German food when he tastes it) and I HIGHLY recommend Taste of Berlin.

The Jaeger Schnitzel was delicious! The pretzel mit senf and the mustard was the best mustard in town! Great service and wonderful place to celebrate Oktoberfest

If you are looking for a true German restaurant with authentic German chef and staff, this is the place for you. The roasted rose Mary potatoes and their red cabbage as was their sour kraut were phenomenal! My only criticism is that the schnitzel batter did not stick to the meat and came off. Disappointing.

While searching around, looking for something different near home, I found a German restaurant in Brandon. Yes, that’s right I said Brandon! But, if you are reading this you already know that. Needless to say, I was surprised. I’ve only been to Germany twice, and my time there was about a week each time, so I am no expert on German food. I like German food though. I don’t love it, but I do like it. I think it’s delicious, because there’s a lot of pork selections. I love pork! Also, a lot of the food is deep fried. I also love fried food, but I can’t eat a lot of it. It goes straight to my hips. I started off with a schnitzel appetizer, and had the cordon bleu for my entrée. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, and very juicy and tender. This was probably the best schnitzel I’ve had in America. The cordon bleu was melt in my mouth delicious! Everything is made fresh, and made in house. I’ve had schnitzel that was very tough at other restaurants. I’ve even had canned mushrooms in the mushroom gravy, but this restaurant does it right! Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly! Even the house made spicy ketchup for the fries was delicious. The dining area is not that large, but they have a good layout, and it is very clean, comfortable and inviting. The service was very accomodating, and friendly. Like I said, I’m no German food expert, so she was happy to answer all of our questions. The food came out fast, and drinks never went dry. We were really taken care of. Menu has a great selection, & I can’t wait to go back and try some more! Overall, it was a great experience at a great restaurant with friendly people. I recommend checking it out.

They don’t take American Express, and they were unapologetic about it. It’s too bad because they lost not only a customer but now I have to write a review that says that they’re idiots for not taking it. They don’t seem to care. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else with better vibes…

More of a 3.5 review– It is rare to find German cuisine in these parts but this is definitely worth a try and I am glad I went for it. I tried the popular jaegerschnitzel with spaetzel, it was tasty but not out of this world, mind you, I’m no expert on German cuisine but I have had tastier versions of this elsewhere, either way it hit the spot and was not disappointing. For dessert I tried the apple strudel with ice cream, tasty as well. Good service and an inviting atmosphere. Beware they only take cash for orders under $ 20. I know where to come back when I have a hankering for German food.

We have been wanting to try Taste of Berlin for a while and tonight… we did and the wait was worth it!!! We were greeted by a lovely young lady the moment we stepped in the door and were seated immediately. There were about 15 folks in the small restaurant. The place probably seats 40. Our server, a lovely lady with fire red hair was so helpful with the menu. We later found out that she and her husband– the chef– own the restaurant. The offerings are plentiful on the menu. We ordered Bratwurst and Currywurst as an appetizer and we ordered schnitzel Jaegar Art– pork breaded and pan fried with a mushroom sauce and Schweinbraten a pork roast dish with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy. The appetizer arrived, played nicely and very colorful. The sausages were so delightful and flavorful. The homemade curry ketchup was really good. Just the right bit of sweet and tangy tomatoey goodness. The brats on the gravy on a bed of sauerkraut was yummy. Each sausage was cut into bite sized pieces. So delicious! Then the entrée’s arrived piled high with food. I dug right in! It was like diving into a German culinary paradise. The Schweinbraten dish was just amazing. The pork was tender and the accompanying gravy was soo dang good! The red cabbage’s flavor was sweet and wonderful and of course the sauerkraut was perfect. I just wish that there had been more because I LOVE sauerkraut. I almost licked the plate. My partners schnitzel was outstanding… he too ate every bite! I will also say that the portions are large and VERY filling! The most wonderful thing about this restaurant is that they are the real deal… authentic German food prepared lovingly by German folks. You can taste their passion in the food. Next was desert… we had too ok? LoL. I ordered the Plum Crumble Butter Cake and my partner ordered-what else– apple strudel! Yee haw!!! Sweet Lord– the deserts are unreal! The plum cake was simply out of this world. The plum pieces were sweet and tart and the cake was buttery and delightfully filling. The strudel was as expected… heaven on a plate. Our meal top to bottom was marvelous as was the service. Total for an appetizer, ginger ale, 2 entrees and 2 deserts– $ 60 before tip and worth every penny. Cannot wait to come back! Don’t let this fantastic culinary experience pass you by!

Taste of Berlin is an example of just the culinary excellence that Tampa needs. Sauces made fresh in-house and dishes clearly communicate a heavy hand of authenticity, even the waitresses tend to be German from my observation. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles of Mr. Dunderbak’s in Tampa, but quite frankly with the excellent food they serve, it doesn’t need it. The restaurant is tucked away on Oakfield in Brandon — but worth the drive. The diners who are lucky enough to make their way to Taste of Berlin experience a real German experience. Their German beers are certainly a nice touch as well. I love their bratwurst with their own mustard sauce and you absolutely have to their homemade fries with an in-house ketchup. The«Jaegar Art» Schnitzel I had today was also superb. I prefer the fries to the spaetzle that comes with it. The prices at Taste of Berlin will probably set you back around $ 10-$ 20 unless you’re doing lunch. ProTip: Orders under $ 20 are cash-only and since it’s not on the menu you’re likely to find this out as you try to pay the bill. It would be nice if instead of forcing you to spend $ 20 the people at Taste of Berlin just passed the credit card fee over to the consumer, which I’ll happily pay for this quality food. For today, I just decided to treat myself to a coffee and dessert to hit the minimum price, but some other diners may not be so nice. Wednesdays are Schnitzel Wednesdays where 3 specials will drop from around $ 13 to just $ 9.50 which is nice. Either way, I love Taste of Berlin and anyone with an interest in German food should check it out as soon as possible.

Echt«geil»!
