Everyone I dealt with at Honey Do was friendly and professional, including the office receptionist, the person who came out for the quote, and the guy who came to do the work at my house. I hired them to do install a kitchen backsplash, replace a small broken basement window, and repair a double hung window. They did the work at the quoted price in a reasonable amount of time. I was very happy with the level of communication from their office. The quality of the work was just okay, probably comparable to a slightly above average DIY-er. The person who was doing the work seemed rushed, which I think was part of the problem. For example, he installed a double-paned window in the basement but didn’t seal completely around the window. I could still see gaps where light and water could come in around the window and I had to follow up with some additional sealing. He installed the kitchen backsplash relatively well but didn’t completely grout between all the tiles. I ended up calling their office and he had to come back another day to fix up the missing spots. There are also some areas where the tile pattern is different from what we agreed on at the beginning of the day. The day after the tiling was done, I discovered that the kitchen garbage disposal no longer worked. When I looked in with a flashlight the disposal was filled with dried grout! Luckily I was able to fix it myself. Some of the outlets were also not secured properly in the wall after the tile install. All of these things are items I was able to fix at minimal extra cost, but I don’t expect to have to follow up after a contractor when I have paid several hundred dollars for a project. I might hire them again for a project that doesn’t require too much precision(i.e. working on a shed, some kind of general repair) but I would probably not hire again for any tiling or detailed work.

I stopped in to ask about having a shower kit installed in my bathroom. Had already purchased the shower and was looking for someone to professionally install it. Was told by the woman that the person I needed to speak with was out, and that he would call. I never received a call, and a week or so later received an e-mail stating that they weren’t able to help, and that perhaps I should call a plumber. I guess my job was too small for Honey Do to bother with.

I’m surprised by negative comments on this site. They are busy, but the GM, foreman, craftsman and office personnel always return my calls and call me to give advice when I need it. We are having over 20 items repaired in and outside our house, and I find it easy to schedule and reschedule. They are very accommodating. They back up their statement that they want their customers to be happy. They work closely and communicate well, so any adjustments are easily made. Good communication and trustworthiness go a long way with me. I find them genuinely concerned for doing the best job for us as we had a serious problem after someone else(a platinum-certified roofer) fumbled a job. As with any contractor, my advice is to just be pro-active in communicating what you want.
