I had to share my experience as it seems to be very different than the other reviews. We went for the first time after shopping nearby. We were greeted promptly and warmly by the young man at the host stand. Our server(Ken) came over immediately to take our drink order & delivered them quickly. The menu was pretty basic — pretty much the one I grew up reading — the one I love. I went with my standard go-to egg foo yong and pork fried rice. It was delivered hot, fresh, and really good. And! The duck sauce was the kind I’m always looking for but never find. Thank you! While enjoying our meal I noticed the host literally running carry-out orders out to waiting patrons. I was impressed. About halfway through our meal one of the cooks(possibly the owner?) passed by and smiled and waved excitedly. I waved back so he came over! He asked if it was our first time there and when we said yes he playfully slugged our shoulders! Haha I thought it was so great. We chatted a bit and told him we’d be back. I overheard the couple behind us talking about how glad they were to have found this place — they try something new every time. I’ll be sure to do the same. Sure they’re lacking in the décor department but I’m not there for that. I’m there to enjoy my food and hopefully my service AND I DID!

I went here at 1:30 in the afternoon for lunch everything was dried up and disgusting it was definitely a one-star the waiter was standing there staring at me the entire time I ate it was pretty empty probably because everything is so filled with MSG and dried up it just even looks disgusting the second I saw it I wanted to leave but I didn’t want to be rude and my daughter was hungry I don’t recommend this yuck

Ate here on the way home with my wife. It was only 5pm, so I didn’t expect a big crowd, and sure enough it was dead. Our food was well cooked, tastety and inexpensive. The place is clear, the waiter friendly. So hey, all is well. It didn’t get a 5 simply because of its no frills atmosphere. Just a nice local quick place to eat.

«Buffet Lunch… Very Good Food… Very Good Value» You really can’t beat this for $ 8.95! There were about 12 items plus 2 soups to choose from, and we tried nearly all of them. First… whether it suited our tastes or not, every item looked fresh and appetizing. Some that we thought were excellent included General Gao’s Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and BBQ Chicken. Egg Rolls, Boneless Spare Ribs, Lobster Sauce and Lo Mein were better than average. Fried Rice, and Hot/Sour Soup were OK, but not the flavors we are used to. The Egg Drop Soup looked artificially colored and the Pot Stickers filling was excellent, though the wrapper was too thick and doughy. Even though at most buffets, the server/bus person can be somewhat indifferent, our server was very attentive. Overall we enjoyed, and will definitely be back.

Took the family here and everything was fresh and delicious. Big portions, chicken fingers and spare ribs were light and tasty. If I ever move to Braintree, this will be my place

What a hidden jewel… The food here is the best Chinese around Braintree. #1. The staff is so friendly and inviting. #2. The owner even comes out to meet you and check on the food. #3. Saving the best for last, the FOOD is GREAT!!! The waiter suggested the Salt and Pepper Spicy Shrimp, we were not disappointed… the House Fried Rice is the best, and everything comes out piping hot. So if you are in the mood for some good chinese, this is the place in Braintree.

If you are Asian and use to eating Asian food then Chung’s ain’t for you. We were traveling from Toronto and was craving Asian food and this place was close to where we we’re so thought we would try. Should have known or trusted my gut when we walked and the menu was in English — no Chinese. Usually Chinese restaurant has English and Chinese names of the items listed on the menu. The food is «westernized». The service is good — very friendly.

I love chung’s when I was a student over at TONI&GUY Braintree(btw check them out) I’d always find myself here when I just need some time to myself to enjoy some of the best Chinese food! I’d go during the buffet and when I tell you nothing beats the food here I mean it. I’m literally drooling for some right now as I write this post!!! I love how even the chef comes out to see if people are enjoying the food. I’ve shared some conversations with the staff and the chef as well they are very nice people. My mom and brother love chung’s too. I even got some of my classmates to come with me and eat hear and they loved it too! I love the crabragoons! And they had this like vegetable with chicken thing idk what it was but it was soooooo good it was white tho next time I’ll ask. The soup, wings, rolls, lo mien and rice were all good! Everything is super tasty and delicious. If I’m ever around that area I will be having lunch here!!!

Update: went to the lunch buffet here. I’d give that a 3.5. So overall, with the below average dinner, I’ll give it a 3. Lunch buffet had two good soups: hot. sour and egg drop. Bbq pork and chicken, good chicken wings, and a few more things that were all solid for a lunch buffet. The price was good too: $ 25 for 2 adults and 1 kid. We may come back here again for lunch if we’re in the area

I went here with my family yesterday for the $ 9.95 Buffet. The food was the best I’ve had in a long. The Buffet was full, hot, and just the right selection. What impressed me the most is the owner came to our table to see how everything was and if the buffet had enough items. Décor was pleasant and not a lot of noice.

i have changed my mind about this place, it is «a-ok». lunch buffet /value: 3.5 stars small but what is there is good and it is only nine bucks. lunch buffet /rangoons: 3.75 stars lunch buffet /chicken fingers: 4 stars buffet/kung pao: 3.5 stars buffet /gao: 4 stars gao is often chopped small so as to mix in dark meant in the heavily flavored sauce. this was large pieces of white meat. parking: 5 stars and yes they are nice folks. And yes somehow Unilocal took my Caps Lock and made it lower case so I look ridiculous.

Chung’s is definitely a go-to for my entire family when it comes to Chinese food, and believe me, we’ve tried it everywhere. Their food is great, their service is friendly and accommodating and they use quality ingredients(I’ve never had anything other than white meat chicken in any dish, and they are usually cutting fresh green beans or other veggies when you pick up your food). We often make special requests and not only is Chung’s good about changing their recipes based on what we’ve asked for, but they remember for the next time. If you like a little spice, definitely try the aromatic crispy beef.

I recommend this Chinese resturaunt. The food is fresh and quite tasted. The owner, cook is very friendly and really tries to please his customers. The portions are good and the prices are as well. My fussy husband also agrees and has asked me to go there a few times since I introduced him to the place a few months ago. I would say it is the best Chinese food around the south shore. The Peking ravioli is great. I will be a regular at this place for sure. Everyone who likes Chinese should give this place a try, if they are in the area. Kathy J

Went here yesterday for the lunch buffet, which was $ 9.95. We went there when it first opened so all the food that they offered were fresh. At first, the cook was kind of pushy when we were deciding whether or not to eat here but in the end, the food was not bad. It was tasted lighter compared to other Chinese restaurants and it definitely filled me up. Like one reviewer said, there wasn’t much choices but it got all the food that I would normally eat if I want to eat American chinese food. The staff was good and the cook was attentive in making sure that the customers were happy and the food was filled. I have to take off one star for the bathroom, it could use some work. Overall, I would come back as the food and buffet price was decent and reasonable.

This place is definitely one of the best and most unique chinese food restaurant around Braintree. They serve unique chinese dishes like Watercress & Pork Soup that cannot be found anywhere else around that area. Their General Gau Chicken [My friend and I thought they were amazing] are not as greasy and floury as those found in other chinese restaurants. Their fresh off the pan General Gau Chicken with their home-made sauce is definitely a must order(you won’t regret it!!). Having been to alot of chinese restaurants myself, their portion size are much bigger than found else where. Overall, this is a perfect spot to dine in after a long day of shopping in Burlington plaza. I don’t know why people say $ 13.95 for a «special» is considered pricey. $ 13.95 is considered low compared to the other chinese restaurants I have been to. The specials I’ve seen ranges from ~$ 12 all the way to ~$ 25. Based on their big portion size, you are getting your worth…

A warm and friendly staff who were very attentive. Explained question about the menu clearly and accurately. Large portions(huge dumplings) that were flavorful and hot(not just in temperature). The menu is fairly standard in its Chinese fare, but there are some interesting surprises such as Szechuan Spicy Noodle with Pork. I’m not kidding when I say the portions are HUGE in both the appetizers and entrees. The waiter recommended ordering a combination platter for a smaller portion with a choice of rice. The standard entrees don’t come with complementary rice. Despite this, one would probably want to avoid the additional carbs as a side dish to the heaping amount of sodium that comes with every order. Overall, a great restaurant in terms of food and service. A gem in an otherwise depressing strip mall.
