Steak ‘n Shake

I have always gone here growing up but haven’t gone in awhile. Recently I started coming back for the birthday cake milkshake that I fell in love with. 5 stars for the milkshake but 0 for the people working there and the drive thru. I went there a couple nights ago. Waited 10 mins to get up to order. They had at least 3 employees outside talking to random people not doing their job. Then I finally got to order, came around to the window and the guy told me to pull to the side and he will bring it out. I do so and I waited there for 30 mins. While waiting I saw 2 more employees outside on their phones. Went inside to ask where our food was and came back and 15 mins later our food came. Now the food was fine but as I was drinking my milkshake I bit on something hard… IT WAS A PIECE OF PLASTIC!!! A piece of plastic in my milkshake. NEVER will I go back to that place again!

This place is filthy! The floor was disgusting. When I first entered I thought there were dead bugs all over the floor but thankfully I was wrong and it was just all dinged up. But trust me it was dirty too! Who knows when it was cleaned last. I saw dust and stuff all over and it seemed to take a while for tables to get bussed.
The chilli was a bit watery. We’ve been to so many other steak and shakes in Ohio and this one did not compare. The food didn’t even come out hot. Though the waitress claimed the bowls were super hot, I don’t know. They seemed to have a steady drive though business. But it was just me and my mom and two other tables of people in the whole place. We were so excited to go and sadly disappointed.
We would never go back to this location. And it makes me sad and nervous to try other locations in the future. This chain is going down. Sad face.

One of the worst places I have ever eaten at, they used to be very clean and good quality food and I’ve sadly watched them get worse and worse. Last visit for me was when I saw a bug crawl across our table. This has been a few months ago so maybe they have cleaned the place up a bit, I certainly hope so. I just know after several terrible experiences, I won’t go back.

Came late… yes! But sat at the drive thru for five minutes on a Monday night… well Tuesday morning… got no response. figured it was broke so pulled up to the window… waited five more minutes… yeah! Not ok when it’s all I wanted!

This place is going downhill. I am/​was a regular and have seen the service/​accuracy getting worse by the day. I hate to say this because I have always loved Steak ‘n Shake, but I am tired of always having to «give it a chance.» One day it takes 5 minutes to get my food, then the next I wait 30 minutes to even get a drink. Today it took 35 minutes to get a burger, fries, and my chili. When the food finally came out, the fries were stale and cold, the burger was incorrectly made, but the chili, which should have came out long before, was piping hot, so I got to eat it while my food was cooked again! Unreal, something is wrong with this restaurant. Either management, the quality of servers, and/​or the cooks. Something needs to be done, or this place is going to close soon! Wouldn’t be surprised to see it close down after season is over. :(

I had to put a star, but if there was an option not to I most definitely wouldn’t have. Service was slow as molasses granted there were new servers and it was a busy Friday afternoon. My family and I were seated right next to the service window and we noticed that there was food sitting in the window for 10 minutes plus with no one running it out to tables… come to find out that it was our food sitting there getting cold. Once they brought it out; fries were cold and we were missing a few items. All in all it was a terrible experience.

I love Steak and Shake but not this one. Not only did we wait 50 minutes to be served, we were given plastic utensils! The food is always great but not worth waiting for. Fix your service problems!

If you order two burgers with fries and two dark chocolate shakes for take out at 5:11pm tonight. How long does it take for this location to get you your food? Answer: 34 MINUTES. I worked in foodservice for five years and if it took that long to serve a customer their two combo meals, the entire crew and manager on duty would be fired on the spot. Numerous people ahead of us have already asked to see the manager and he immediately runs back to hide/​get their burger or shake without even an apology to his guests. Customer service and the guest experience must be a foreign concept to him. Corporate needs to get down here ASAP, fire the manager, retrain all the employees, and fix this chaos.

We love Steak ‘n Shake food. But this is by far the worst service we have ever experienced. We will never go back to this one, NEVER.

The sign outside should read: Abandon all hope ye who enter. It’s not quite the 10^th circle of hell, but it’s close. I’ll put it this way – If the continuation of the human race depended on me eating here, we would go extinct in 2016. Imagine a restaurant where no one who works there cares. Where there is no pride in the food or restaurant conditions. If that restaurant exists, go there instead of Steak n Shake. AVOID THIS PLACE.

I have no idea why we come back. It is the same thing every time. Wait to be seated, then sit for 15 minutes waiting on drinks and chili, and a other 30 to 45 minutes for 2 burgers. Our waitress has been on a few breaks in the time we have been here

Went to get a shake. Sign outside says «out of shakes»… Unacceptable. Also the drive-​thru was blocked by an eighteen wheeler. Really a let down.

45 minutes just to get seated and to get our orders taken. Lazy manager just sat and looked at us (wife, mother in law, son) as we stood there waiting to get some service. Waitress was overwhelmed and was very rushed. She left silverware on the table and ALLL of the spoons, forks and knives were cruddy, filthy, and disgusting. I was going to wait till I left the restaurant to leave a review but it’s been 20 minutes and I haven’t gotten my food. Now I’m just writing this review to kill time… It’s sad. Save your money and go to sonic on 41.

NO STARS. If there is no stars, the will be the winners. The kitchen floor was filthy with food every where. The Cooks were fighting among themselves and the Manager was doing nothing about it. Our order came half of what it was describe in the menu and on top of that they charged full price. When I tried to complain I was completely ignored and our waitress dissappear. I am completely dissatisfied with the service and the food. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

They have had the worst service every time I’ve been there. Waiting 25 minutes for water. Then another 20 minutes for check. I love steak and shake, and I want it to be good… it just isn’t. I think I’m going to do go through the drive-​thru next time and just bring it in to eat. At least it’d be faster.

I’ve given this Steak and Shake four chances and the service remains consistently poor will each visit. The service staff seems burden with additional responsibilities that distract them from serving customers. The food is reasonably priced and consistently good though provided you get your order placed. Waiting around for a manager to cash you out at the register is another negative.

Food is consistent, service sucks. Takes forever to get waited on, if your lucky enough too, and you rarely get to actually have something to drink with your actual meal they either forget refills or don’t bother to bring your shake until after. I like steak and shake don’t waste your time here

Every once in awhile, you come across a restaurant that you’ve been to many times, and suddenly realize you have no idea why! Today, our trip to Steak and Shake was one of those times. The clearly written order was not properly understood by the kitchen, so my son’s side dish was not served with the meals. It was served very quickly after, but cold, congealed, and tasteless… you can see in the pictures!
Their advertising half price happy hour on all drinks runs from 2 to 5 AM or PM. It was always every day. Since they added an hour and its from 2 to 5, instead of 2 to 4, it is now only Monday through Friday! There is a tiny sign on the door as you walk in that does say weekdays, but who’s looking at this sign when they’re sitting at the table ordering, or during their meal. Not me! When I ordered two milkshakes, because the waitress came to my table 3 times before my son exited the bathroom trying to take my order, she may have wanted to mention that though it was happy hour time, happy hour does not exist on the weekends. She did not! When I brought this to her attention, after receiving the check, she simply stated, that’s only Monday thru Friday. She did not offer an apology, or an explanation as to why it is not clearly marked on the menu or anywhere else inside the restaurant. As I look at her, in her uniform, a bit more closely… I see she’s even wearing a button advertising happy hour is from 2 to 5, EVEN the button does not specify Monday through Friday only! Why is she even wearing it on a Saturday night?
Well we went in for the kids eat free all weekend special, which we received, so for one adult the check came to over $ 16 for a burger, onion rings, and 2 milkshakes! I am thoroughly disappointed at the quality of the food, my burger had wilted lettuce, a terrible looking piece of tomato, and nothing on the table but ketchup. When I asked for a side of mayo, I got a tiny cup of Miracle Whip… And that’s when I gave up trying to make the mess of a meal even work!
I told the waitress I was working on a Unilocal review, and ate my onion rings & drank the ½ of my milkshake I could… I continued to take pictures, and even discussed our dissatisfaction with the quality of food with my son loud enough for the staff at the counter to easily here.
So she asked me several times if there was anything else I needed, but she never once asked me once if I was satisfied with the meal I received, or seem to care that I was working on a lengthy review on social media about the restaurant! That in and of itself completely shocked me. She was definitely young enough to be internet savvy, as I could see a smartphone peeking out of her waitress apron pocket. How could she not realize if I was satisfied, I would not have spent the entire time I should have been eating… working on a review about the restaurant. I chatted up my waitress, as I was paying the check, apologetically explaining to her that all I had was a $ 20 bill and thought that my milkshakes would be $ 4.00 instead of $ 8.00, so her tip was going to be partially in change. She did mention it to someone at the counter, as she paid the check, that I thought happy hour was every day, because it used to be! But that didn’t cause a manager to apologize for the confusion, explain why it was not properly notated anywhere like on the menu, on the table, or anywhere else besides the small sign on the front door.
All in all, the staff was friendly and more than adequate. The food, however, especially for the overpriced milkshake that was undrinkable halfway through because all of the hot fudge was sitting at the bottom, was subpar except for the onion rings. Once you got through half the milkshake all you had was a clogged straw full of hot fudge. Definitely not what I expected from a four dollar milkshake! My sons chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake was wonderful, but when I ordered it I was never asked which size I wanted and was automatically brought a very small child size milkshake for $ 3.00, ¼ the size of the adults, for $ 1.00 less! Since it does not come with the meal, the least they could have done was asked me what size I would like!
If I do ever decide to go back to this location I will definitely only go if I have coupons, ask questions about all specials before ordering, and will definitely be picking up takeout or hitting the drive thru. All in all my waitress did a great job getting the food out quickly and asking repeatedly if we had everything we needed, but it is not worth having to tip someone for cold subpar food! What happened to Steak and Shake?! I used to love bringing my son to your restaurant! Not so much anymore.

Please don’t go to this restaurant, you’ll thank me later. The floors were filthy, empty tables sat with dirty dishes 10 – 15 minutes before being cleaned. We waited for about 7 minutes in a half empty restaurant before they «noticed» us and got us a table. The wait staff was running around with their heads cut off and the restaurant was only HALF full! I can’t imagine the chaos if the place was full! We had to ask for our sides because the waitress forgot them. Other people around us had their order messed up. The only good thing I have to say is that my burger was moderately tasty, but no better than any other fast-​food place. I will not be returning!

The food at Steak-​N-​Shake is pretty consistent but the service is another story! We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch specifically because I wanted some cheese fries. To our surprise there was a LONG wait. While this place was quite busy they were empty tables available that had not been cleaned. We noticed that if all the dirty tables were cleaned everyone who was waiting could have been seated (so my husband went to go ask if someone would clean the tables). Shortly after, everyone was seated.
After being seated, I noticed that this Steak-​N-​Steak was filthy. The highchair was gross, the floors were nasty, & there was caked up dust near the windows. But we had waited long enough for my cheese fries, I wasn’t going to leave and our server was very professional, apologized for the long wait & she was astonishing polite.
Again, the food was good and always! But if your after of a little dirt or in a rush so somewhere else.
