Do not go to this place! This is not a restaurant but a swindler. I have a bad experience at here with my family. We are Chinese and living in CA for a long time. They priced same items with different amount. When we went in, they gave us a Chinese menu which every item on the list is 2 $ higher than English menu. I’m mad and shamed on these people. They are so greedy on cash. They automatically charged us 15% tips on check. A simple dinner costs us more than 60 $. And guess what? They didn’t even provide napkins for us. 2 $ for a small bowl of rice. Why don’t they just ask for cash directly? These poor people are going to get unemployed soon I bet. I’m looking forward to police station and reporting then for defrauding. I’ll never come back.

We went here several times in 2012 and ordered off the menu, everything was good and several dishes were outstanding. I am travelling for work and came in to try the buffet. I really don’t understand the complaints. I came early — obviously if you come towards the end the stuff will be picked over. The fried food was crispy, the dishes included beef, chicken, and shrimp, plus string beans, mushrooms, noodles, maybe a couple others. The Mongolian chicken was delicious, the beef and broccoli and shrimp and vegetables very good too. Hot and sour soup, included, was great. The sushi is barely sushi and isn’t good, but I didn’t do the buffet for sushi. They have a nice soft serve machine with sprinkles and chocolate syrup. Service is prompt and friendly. I like this place a lot. I am here a month, will probably be back!

This is sad. Once upon a time it was the best Chinese food in Bozeman. Now it’s gross food in an ugly, empty building with shockingly high prices. I don’t think it will last. The national franchises have made it too hard for the local family joints to compete. Chains can order bales of the stuff at a time and serve it up fresh, cafeteria style, in snazzy new buildings for less money.

Not worth a trip. Only 1 or two tables full. The buffet full of average, American Chinese food– the flavorless, gloppy kind. My husband and children have enjoyed it, but I have no interest in returning. Ever.

If paying ludicrous amounts of money for sub-par Chinese food is your thing, then you will love Chinatown! I ate at Chinatown for the first and last time tonight. I asked if the sesame chicken came with rice, I was told that it did. So I ordered sesame chicken with fried rice and two egg rolls. I thought the lady said $ 13, which sounded very reasonable. When I went to sign the receipt I see that she said $ 30. I was shocked. Turns out the sesame chicken does come with white steamed rice, which can’t be substituted for fried rice. When I told her I wanted to cancel the order of $ 12 fried rice, I was told I couldn’t because it was already in the wok. I left the restaurant very displeased. When I got home my displeasure turned to pure disgust. The egg rolls were slightly warmer than room temperature and very bland. There is NO way the $ 12 fried rice was cooked to order, it was kind of cold too. The sesame chicken was at least hot, but it tasted like they scraped it off the bottom of a tray on the buffet. $ 4 for two terrible egg rolls, $ 12 for terrible fried rice, and $ 14 for terrible sesame chicken. I’ll never go back. Chinatown left a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively.

I hate giving a bad review. So I’m splitting it down the middle. We have been coming to Chinatown for 12+ years and have always loved it. In fact, we’ve felt like family from the owners to the staff, everyone being very nice and watching us go through our different phases of life(marriage, pregnancies and adding more children to our family). My kids love that they ‘can eat whatever they want’…that being said I feel they really do charge too much. Quality is good so the 3 stars is for food taste alone. It’s too expensive for our family to go anymore though! I can really only eat one plate of food and at $ 14.95 I’m just not sure it’s worth it for your typical Chinese fare. And the kids prices are really absurd. I have no idea how they price because every time we come in its different… but basically this last time the waitress came around and asked my kids ages, wrote it on the bill, then plopped it down and I was appalled. They charged $ 10 for my 7 year old. My 5 year old was $ 8 and my 2 year old who ate only a couple of bites and a small dish of ice cream was $ 5!!! I honestly couldn’t believe it. We spent almost $ 60 that night. I’m sorry Chinatown but you charge too much and I’m not sure it’s worth it for us to dine there anymore.

A pleasant surprise for lunch today in Bozeman. We had never been to Chinatown Restaurant, I was stopped by traffic at the light and we decided it was fate. The place is bright and clean looking when you enter, we were greeted and promptly seated, and given ice cold water. They have a buffet, we had the«Quick Lunch» menu. The price was $ 10.00 and includes main dish, fried rice, soup, crab Rangoon. And it was QUICK, I add a star for how fast the order was taken, we got soup, and the main dish right after, piping hot. Wow! That was impressive for lunch. The portions were generous for lunch, I asked for a box, and was given one with a bag. The food was pretty good for the price and the quality. I would go here again. And probably will. This is a nice place for Bozeman.

Family trip to Yellowstone and stayed at Bozeman. We are Chinese Americans who always look for real Chinese food, even in a small town. We had read some reviews on this restaurant and were aware of the high price of dishes. From their website, they have Chinese menu with the real Chinese food. We decided going there since our top chosen restaurant was not open. Entering the restaurant, we chose the Chinese menu. There was just another table already done with eating. We ordered three dishes, and then was asked how many bowls of rice we needed. We immediately clarified that they charge $ 1.50 for a bowl of rice. Most Chinese restaurants don’t charge for rice. It’s just like you go to a regular American restaurant and is charge for bread. This will be ridiculous. That’s definitely a huge negative part. Since we are tourists and had to feed the two kids, we ended up with 5 bowls of rice. The second part that will suggest you never go there is their greed. They automatically charged us 15% for tip… We ended up almost $ 60. I think their chefs might be Cantonese or from the south, using seafood seasoning frequently. In terms of the taste of the dishes, it is acceptable, but not as good as those in CA. For a town with 20k population, their food is not bad, but again, it’s overpriced. One of the dishes came to my table quite different than I expected. I will not recommend this place because the owner is too greedy. Their mindset is to serve tourists only(for the real Chinese food). This tourists won’t return anyway in their mind. For serving the majority of the locals(Non-Chinese), they have buffet. But if the management mentality is to rip off the tourists, I don’t think they will cook good food for anyone. This is my first Unilocal review… and just hope you don’t get a bad dining experience.

I love running into Cantonese restaurant owners and having conversations with them, but that alone will not buy a high rating. We dined in on a Monday night and there were only two other tables dining in. We ordered a noodle soup with bamboo shoots and pork, salt and peppered pork, shredded potato, and pork with assorted vegetable in a dark sauce. I didn’t realize how much pork we ordered until I listed the above… Anyway, the four entrees came to approximately $ 70 before tip. That is very pricey considering the quality of the dishes. The salt and peppered pork tasted very burnt and was mostly bones. The usual salt and peppered pork should be slabs of pork and not rib tips. The shredded potato also weren’t well cooked and a bit raw. The usual staple, rice, was dry and tough. They have a parking garage so that is a plus. Will I return? Unlikely.

I happen to love Chinese buffets, and this one is pretty good. The only thing I would like more, is if they had better sushi and refilled the dishes more often. They have everything you would want in a Chinese buffet though, including crispy egg rolls, which you dont see too often. They are good about refilling your water and seem like a nice, authentic Chinese family. If I was a student at the high school, I would go there all the time — the price is totally reasonable.

$ 14.95 for the Buffet mostly empty trays at 6:45 –7:PM was ridiculously expensive and the dishes that were there were not very fresh or even very good. The only item I enjoyed were the mushrooms. No shrimp dishes at all. :-(We have come here several times over the last 10 years. Seems it has gone down hill. Maybe if we ordered off the menu we’d have been more pleased(by reading other reviews). If they cannot afford to keep buffet pans fresh and some quantity in them(and some shrimp dishes), I suggest they dump the buffet concept and just serve off the menu. Friendly service, but the price for such a poor buffet spread is ridiculous. In retrospect, my wife and I should have just LEFT, when we saw the pitiful buffet spread. :-(Our next Chinese food trip will be elsewhere… there are other(better) choices in Bozeman.

Yummy Chinese food. We got huge servings of Mongolian Beef, Beef Broccoli, and Singapore Noodles(not on the menu, you have to ask for it!) Everything was delicious and the service was very pleasant. Will definitely return.

The four amigos were on an adventure in MT, we were looking for something to eat on Christmas day and did not want to stay in big sky so we drove to Bozeman, the college town and where things were supposed to be happening. The city is pretty decently sized and there were a lot of stores, including Morgan Stanley, Audi and Toyota which was pretty surprising I must say. We drove around, nothing was open until we randomly saw this China town place with big shiney open light on. We walked in and were greeted in Chinese, the owner lady(I think) asked if we spoke Chinese and if we wanted the Chinese menu, I said of course! So we got the Chinese(secret menu) which is what you would get in LA or OC… Oh and that Chinese menu doesn’t have any English at all… So I was the only one Chinese enough to order. We got crispy chicken, mapo tofu, Mongolian beef and celery pig stomach. The only thing I didn’t like was the chicken, it was cold inside and didn’t taste fresh at all. The rest hit the spot, feel pretty authentic, especially the celery pig stomach, nice and spicy– it would be perfect if the stomach was fried or satay to be more crispy on the outside. The waitress was a younger lady and I asked where she’s from, she said Taipei Taiwan and I almost poop myself because that’s where I’m from and I don’t know or how or why she ended up in Montana, she was too busy running around and away from me so I couldn’t ask more. Last thing, don’t have a heart attack when you see the price because this place is pretty darn expensive, especially for a Chinese restaurant… It ain’t the OC or LA anymore…

Truly enjoyed a quiet evening, delicious food, seated in a window booth. Our choices were fresh-tasting, and pleasing to the eye: Mu Shu Pork, Mongolian Beef, and Pork Fried Rice. Will return soon to try more dishes. Okay to discuss«off menu» choices, and experiment.

We passed by Bozeman on our way out of Yellowstone. They do have a different menu for Chinese speaking people. The price is high but I guess maybe due to the location of this town. Food tastes pretty good compare to other Chinese restaurants in the middle of no where towns. Staff were all very nice came to chat with us. Overall a great dinning experience

I don’t know why so low on other reviews but I think china town has really good food. I would go when the buffet is just started or order off the menu. The General Tsos is amazing with the dark rich sweet sauce. The only problem is they are more pricey, however they do give enough for two if one dish is ordered.

It may not be the best Chinese food … but it is by far the best in Bozeman. Don’t do the buffet … it is no better or worse than any other buffet. You get what you pay for people. Order off the menu(or, off the«special» menu). I’m a fan.

Absolutely disgusting. Christmas eve. Nothing open except for chinese restaurants. So I need something to eat because I don’t want to starve so I head into Chinatown Restaurant. What a dump. I looked at the buffet and decided that I was just going to order take out sesame chicken and eat it in the hotel room. The buffet looked absolutely grease laden and horrible. There was no way I was going to be eating that. Well. I got an order of dumplings too. That was probably the best part of the food and it was not by much. The fried dumplings were soggy and wet. As if they were precooked and just microwaved in the back. The sesame chicken wasn’t any better. The chicken was completely smothered by the sauce which was not very good at all. I finished the dumplings and ate a bit of the sesame chicken with white rice before tossing everything and deciding to go hungry for the night.

Worst food in Bozeman. We stopped here to check out the buffet. It’s really expensive, the selection is poor and the food is greasy and over-cooked. The atmosphere is exactly what you should expect from a mid-grade Chinese restaurant except without the delicious smell of cooking. And I’m pretty sure they were playing the same song on repeat the entire time we were there.
