My first experience with phở, pronounced fa’. I have seen it on cooking shows and thought it is just broth. How good can it be? I mean I like broth soups, actually prefer them. But is it that good? I knew if I suggested it to my young peeps they would nose up on me quick while chanting Zaxby’s. Zaxby’s. I knew I had to try it alone. I had seen on Unilocal a picture of phở posted from a little Vietnamese place in Bowling Green. I bookmarked it and waited to try it. Luckily, I had a Dr’s appt and needed a lunch. Aha! Yes. Let’s try the phở. I was hesitant at first because there was only one patron in the place. Oh no I thought. This may not be a good idea. A gentleman approached me gently waving me to a seat. I sat and ask to try the soup.(I didn’t want to be embarrassed by saying it incorrect.) I chose the chicken and waited. The server brought a bottle of Hoisin Sauce and Sriracha Sauce. Then a plate of bean sprouts with fresh bay leaves with another side bowl. A different server bought my phở in a large bowl. The smell was so good! The server explained to pour each sauce in the bowl and try with the broth before adding to the big bowl. There was rice noodles, bits of I believe green onion, white onion and chicken. I like the hoisin sauce with a dab of sriracha. I absolutely loved it! The chicken was cut into flat tender slices. The rice noodles were just right, not too heavy for the broth. I looked around and realized I must of beat the lunch crowd because the place was filling up. Promising to return, I left with that good for you feeling of a satisfied lunch. Phở is now my new favorite. Next time, I must try the steak! Enjoy!

We were so happy to find good Vietnamese in Bowling Green. Sometimes it’s really hard, even in a larger city. Tsunami is both reasonably priced and delicious. The phở is authentic, with tasty broth that really doesn’t need doctoring but is even better after some sriracha and hoisin sauce. The fresh spring rolls are exactly as advertised – fresh(believe me that’s a struggle for some places to manage). And the chargrilled pork with fried egg are grilled without being carbonized(again, sometimes a struggle). I prefer the egg casserole, personally, but the fried egg works. I would give this place 5 stars if they had Vietnamese iced coffee and/or boba teas, but you can’t always get everything you want in life. Its worth a try anyway. Its good, fast, and you can’t go wrong.

The restaurant was very bare and no ambiance but the food makes up for it. The Phở was fantastic and the prices are very affordable. Good find

Let me begin by saying this restaurant serves no alcohol. Let me follow that by saying they serve some of the best Asian cuisine in this town. I walked in and was instructed that they don’t serve alcohol and I almost walked out. But curiosity had the better of me so I stayed. The food was nothing short of outstanding. The phở was awesome! The Chinese cuisine is great and the hibachi was as well. If you’re tired of every day Asian cuisine that you have eaten for years and years then you need to try this restaurant.

I have always loved tsunami’s and will continue to LOVE this place. The owner is such a great guy! Always pleasant and such a hard worker! The staff are amazing and friendly! I’m a sucker for there PHO! I’m always there every week sometimes 4 days out the week ordering their P3. I do sometimes wish he had some tendon though, but that never stops me! I ABSOLUTELY love it here!!! It always brings back memories of home!

This was my first foray into Vietnamese cuisine. I had the Phở Ga and a couple crispy spring rolls for $ 11. Very good! I will be back next time I am in town.

Liked it so much, we ate there two nights in a row! And… we were only in town two nights! I had the Phở Ga, or phở with chicken, both times. My husband tried the phở with rare beef the second night. We loved them both and really enjoyed having the condiment plate(is that Thai basil? Tastes a little like lemongrass… but I’m sure about the sprouts, lime, sriracha and hoisin sauce) to add to taste. We feel guilty when we order dessert and so were delighted when we were offered FREE dessert… either vanilla or chocolate cake. We had the vanilla both times and it was moist and flavorful. Service was friendly and prompt both nights. The atmosphere is nice — red walls decorated with framed embroidered art — very pleasant and even romantic. If we’re in town, we’ll eat here again… if we were locals, we’d be regulars!

Odd mish mash of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese– and I think they’re a bit confused by it all — eg Vietnamese spring rolls came with(Chinese) sweet and sour sauce rather than fish sauce based dipping sauce– what?? Food was okay — not terrible but not memorable. Not flexible on providing vegetarian options and no alcohol served either. Wouldn’t return

Here is a mixed review. We were in town cave hopping and my travel companions are Chinese. I lost the coin toss so we went here for noodles. They both got Phở and liked it. I am a Phở lover, but I wanted some grilled meat, so I choose the Hibachi Chicken. The hibachi chicken tasted like it was stir fried and slathered in this exceptionally sweet sauce. Not what you expect when you want dry grilled meats and veggies. It was edible, but oddly they threw in potato and I din’t recall seing it as one of the veggies. I tried the Phở and it was awful in my opinion. It was exceptionally greasy, you could see it all over the top of the dish. However my companions loved it saying it was very homemade. Tasted to me like boiled cuck roast water. Normally you expect a good Phở to be lots of bone and deep protien taste. Cost was $ 8 for the Phở so you don’t loose out on much, I have spent more on awful BBQ in that town.

I’ve had phở in Vietnam and in numerous places in Toronto which is phở heaven and this place is actually not too bad. It is not as authentically Vietnamese as I wished, seeming the food has been adjusted to a more non-Asian palate. My son had the phở and he said it was really good. I tried his soup and it was quite good. Great wait staff and clean modern dining room. Prices are very reasonable.

We were passing thru from Alabama to Ohio and stopped for the night in Bowling Green, Ky. We found Tsunami through Unilocal. We were NOT disappointed! We ordered takeout so we could eat by the pool at the hotel while watching the kids swim. Food was Fantastic! We ordered the chicken Phở per the Unilocal reviews. Amazing! We also had the spring rolls, General Tso’s chicken and the Vietnamese vermicelli chicken dish. Everything was fabulous, including all the sauces that accompanied the food. On top of all the great food, the prices were extremely reasonable. We definitely recommend this spot!

I really like the Phở there. I always order a Pho2 for myself and a Tsao chicken for my bf. The Tsao chicken is so crispy outside and tender inside. Very good taste. Service is great too. Low price for great food!

The Phở was tasty yum! Better than what we can get in Nashville. Served up just right with fresh Thai basil, fresh, crunchy mung bean sprouts, fresh jalapenos and Sriracha on the side. The service was great, and they give you FREE dessert if you eat in.

This might be my favorite restaurant in Bowling Green. Try the Phở — it will change your life! So delicious. They have a wide variety of food to try. You can play it safe and get chicken teriyaki or be adventurous and try something you’ve never had before. I always get the phở because it is just so good and you can’t get it anywhere else. They also have excellent curry on the weekends. And every meal comes with free dessert! Highly recommended!

Had lunch here today… very pleasant experience. Both the food and the service will make me return. I had the fresh spring roll appetizer(shrimp) and the Phở Ga. Both were really good. The spring rolls were served with a yummy peanut sauce. The Phở Ga was loaded with lots of chicken and noodles and came in a huge bowl. It maybe, possibly needed a tad bit more seasoning, but not so much so that I did not enjoy it or would not order it again. Just to also note, the waitress was amazing! The menu also had some Chinese and Japanese options. So glad I followed the recommendations of my fellow Unilocalers and tried this place. A solid 4 stars!

It’s the rare Vietnamese restaurant in Bowling Green, KY. Let’s just start off by marveling at that fact. The first time I saw the sign, I immediately began beaming. I don’t know much about Vietnamese food as a whole, but I love phở, the hearty Vietnamese soup filled with noodles and meat. I have loved it since my high school days in California when I would eat at hole-in-the-wall establishments in San Jose and San Francisco. These were restaurants that were not the best in terms of interior design and aesthetics, but had a constant flow of customers because the food was of great quality. I found the phở at Tsunami to be great. I just had a very simple bowl with noodles and steak. The broth was good and slightly sweet. I was provided with a side of garnishes(bean sprouts, cilantro), but I simply left them out. Upon finishing my large bowl, I was offered a free dessert of either flan or chocolate cake, which are somewhat odd pairings for Vietnamese food, but I appreciated the gesture and accepted the flan. On a second visit, I had their daily special of chicken teriyaki with rice and vegetables, served with a side of miso soup. It’s basically the same dish you can find at Samurai and Ichiban, two other popular restaurants in this city. During each visit the service was friendly and attentive. The prices are inexpensive. My only issue with Tsunami is that it’s generally empty. Each time I have visited, only one or two other customers were present. Based on that and the newly listed hours of service, I fear that Tsunami won’t last long in Bowling Green. Despite the quality of the food, there just doesn’t seem to be enough demand. I hope I can continue getting my phở fix, though.
