The employees are all very nice and respectful, generally feel good about the place. I must say, though, they looked at my laptop(which was completely dead) and said they’d have to take it for a week. I was hesitant and went to to the Apple Store for a second opinion, and they were able to get it up and running within 20 minutes. Doesn’t reflect on their service at all, would just always recommend getting a second opinion.

I don’t know much about computers and took mine in for repair. Marcus, the manager, and Garrett, the technician who repaired the computer, not only did an excellent repair job but also went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me with things such as understanding the new operating system, answering my questions, etc. The computer works like as if it were a new computer, and I would never take it elsewhere next time it needs repair. I highly recommend MacShack.

These guys are so kind and helpful. They went out of their way to teach me about my machine and tried many techniques without charging me anything. I would highl recommend anyone with a Mac try this place before paying lots anywhere else.

When anything I have is still under warranty and needs fixing, I normally take it back to where I bought it. That just makes sense, right? However, when it comes to Apple gear, I found I much prefer going to the Mac Shack over the Apple Store for service, repairs, parts, etc. They are a certified Apple shop and the guys who work here are great people, very respectful and tremendously helpful most of the time. I’ve bought used Apple computers here too in the past. I’ve never felt they were trying to sell me junk, or didn’t know what they were talking about. The store’s watch cat is sweet too, when he/she is around and is up for some socializing. I took off one star because: 1. The parking situation in the area is very challenging and not free; and… 2. I don’t like that they’re in a basement that tends to flood at times, so it smell a bit dank, which isn’t good for anyone’s health or equipment. Why they haven’t moved to a better location is just beyond me. These guys have been so helpful to me and my family over the years for all things Apple computer-wise; so, I’ll keep going there and recommending them to others too. In fact, I’m heading there soon again for newer MacBook laptop.

These guys are awesome and very good at what they do! I went in twice with problems with my macbook that I wasn’t sure how to fix and they helped me solve both my issues for free. Highly recommended to stop here before the Apple store! Not to mention the cute kitty that wanders around(:

Due to the Apple Store«genius» wiping my data clean without ever asking, the Mac Shack came through and retrieved at least a fair amount of data(though it’s been a nightmare to sort through). They were very helpful in doing all they could to get things back up and running as well. Their repair cost was very reasonable(even cheap compared to some). /Big lesson, do NOT trust the Apple Store!

Buying a new computer sucks. There’s the cost if you are a macophile, the figuring out of all the stuff you need, the annoying sales guy who is either as helpful as a post, a know it all, or that guy that wants to upsell you every damn item in the store. Purchasing my new/used IMac from the Mac Shack was a pleasant treat. First and foremost, THEYANSWERTHEPHONE. This is a rare and wonderful thing in our current society. And they were helpful, asked pertinent questions, and made sure I was getting a machine that will serve me well for several years without trying to get me to buy the most expensive thing in the store. I was looking for a very specific model… they had it and knew why I wanted it before I had to explain. It also didn’t matter which of the awesome staff I spoke to, they were up to date on my discussions with the rest of the staff, and each one was super friendly and knowledgeable. They also actually return calls and keep you posted as to the progress of things happening in the shop, like my migration from my old machine to the new one. I called around to several places in Denver, and none were as helpful or friendly as the Mac Shack. Did I want to drive to Boulder to spend an afternoon buying an iMac? Absolutely not. Was it totally worth it to get just what I wanted for a fair price and no sales BS? TOTALLY. WORTH. IT. Sorry Denver Mac shops, you need to take some customer service lessons from the Mac Shack. They are now my go to place despite the long drive.

Hooray! I never have to set foot in the apple store again! I brought my macbook air to these guys after a shockingly bad experience at the 29th street apple store, and they were fantastic! Where the apple store’s genius bar is crowded, sloppy and full of rude, arrogant«geniuses», these guys are friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and very honest. When Cody at the mac shack discovered that the problem with my air was just that the Apple«geniuses» had disconnected my battery, they fixed it free of charge, and also gave me the heads up that the liquid damage apple wanted to charge me $ 775 to «fix» actually hadn’t damaged a single component of my computer. Lesson: if the Apple store wants to charge you hundreds or thousands of dollars to «fix» something, bring it to the Mac Shack first. In fact, just do yourself a favor — skip the Apple store and bring your stuff here instead. They will tell you the truth, charge you fairly, take the time to explain what’s going on, and just generally treat you right.

I was looking for a used Mac laptop and stopped in the Mac Shack in Boulder. The staff was very friendly, never pushed me to buy anything I wasn’t prepared for. They showed me what I could get for my budget and never tried to up sell me anything extra. They answered all of my questions, very professional. While I was waiting to buy my laptop, the store had a line almost out the door, and everyone was in and out in under 5 minutes. The staff here is very professional and I would never trust any Apple store employee to fix my computer.

I came to the Mac Shack in January because my MacBook Pro wasn’t recognizing its battery. I brought my computer in the first time, they couldn’t find the problem and gave it back. I had the problem again and they were really helpful in taking it free on the Apple warranty. It was a Friday and I asked them to get it back to me as quickly as possible because I needed it for classes. After a weekend of anxiety trying to get things done in the library, I was eager to get it back on Monday or Tuesday. It was finally ready on Wednesday, they simply reset the power management system and it has worked great since. However, as with many alternative computer repair places, there is a certain service quality that is missing. When I first received my computer I found«How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days» in the DVD drive, and an extensive Netflix history of Grey’s Anatomy. I returned the DVD to the guys at Mac Shack, but I couldn’t help but feel I could have gotten my computer back sooner if they hadn’t spent the last 5 days watching movies. In addition, I keep my MacBook Pro in a hard plastic shell case, so when I got it back I didn’t notice that they hadn’t put the screws back in. I moved to Southern California, it is October and last week I finally took off the case and the bottom of my laptop fell off. I called them and the guy said the bottom was never supposed to have been taken off according to the service report. I told him I have never left my computer in the hands of another person, and I haven’t removed the case since their service, so they’re mailing me new screws. I am not sure it is worth going through the Apple store for computer troubles and waiting for appointments, especially because the guys at Mac Shack are pretty helpful and will fix the problem. However, definitely be thorough in making sure everything is how you left it.

The Mac Shack is better than the Apple store. I suffered a rather heinous hard drive crash last week that was further complicated by some encryption issues. The Apple Store wanted to just reformat my hard drive. BUT, I would have lost a week’s worth of data. The guys at the Mac Shack ended up saving all of my data and getting the new drive from apple in just a couple of days. They did a grand job on the hard drive and even replaced one of the feet on the bottom of my macbook, which was missing when I brought it in. Thanks, Mac Shack. I’ll be back in soon.

After having a negative experience with the Apple Store, I headed over to the Mac Shack as a final attempt to avoid an expensive full unit repair. Ron tried out a couple of replacement parts and within 20 minutes had fixed the problem entirely. After being told I had no alternative at the Apple Store, it was so nice to have an advocate that legitimately assessed the nature and cost of the problem rather than being shoved through bureaucracy. I’ll recommend the Mac Shack to any Mac users in Boulder!

These guys are 2 for 2 with providing excellent service for older Apple products handed down to me. I’ve had an Ipod Generation 5 repaired as well as a hard drive replacement for a 2007 macbook. Both times I was extremely happy with the service. Also, the price was the most reasonable for Apple/Mac repair in the Boulder area. I’d recommend them over any other Boulder Mac/Apple product service store.

SAVEDMYASS. 20 gigs crashed and disappeared. They recovered everything and for relatively pennies and a fraction of what the«genius» at the Genius Bar at the Boulder Apple store predicted it could cost, I left MacShack with all my data and with an essentially new Mac laptop. Nick, Vince, Aaron… trust them. They are a more evolved genus than the geniuses at the Genius Bar — — by far.

A few weeks ago our daughter spilled a soda on her Mac Book Pro in the midst of a huge university project. We took the MB to the Shack where they reassured her they would do everything to recover the materials(which they did) and then quickly replaced the keyboard so she could continue the midnight project. They did the work for less than our insurance deductible. Today my MacBook wouldn’t boot and posted a? mark. Back to the Shack where my husband waited for assessment(and recovery of my priceless photos). Once again, complete success. Professional demeanor, knowledge staff(Nick) and others, quick turnaround and compassion for anxiety over your materials. Two for two and wouldn’t go anywhere else!
