Somehow hidden in plain site(just a couple of storefronts down from Folsom street facing the entrance of Sprouts) I happened to stumble upon this store on a recent food shopping outing. Familiar with the downtown location we were guessing on this day that they featured Chacos. My partner had recently won a Chacos gift card in a raffle and wanted to take a closer look at the styles and upon my urging discover what size he needed to order. The gal on duty was happy to help us and it was a good thing we stopped in. As Chacos do not come in half sizes it would have been a guess(order up or order down) as to what size to get. Bringing a few pairs of chacos out and helping sort out that all challenging chaco adjustment(those straps can be tricky) the chaco size mystery was solved. I took my time to wander the store and was excited to find a «last pairs» section of steeply discounted footwear. Though I didn’t find anything in my size I will definitely be back from time to time to check it out. As noted in other reviews this store is conveniently located and certainly an oasis away from the downtown/pearl street location.

I’ve been looking for new shoes for work(I’m on my feet in a restaurant all day) and when I walked into the store I was greeted by one woman who said, «Let me know when you know what you want to try» and walked away to talk to her co-worker. The other woman who worked there heard me say, «Oh, I want to try on these Merrills» and came over to tell me I was in the men’s section and led me to the right place. I tried to engage her in conversation about what I was looking for and asked if they have anything for narrow feet. She twice tried to disengage by telling me to let her know when I decide what I want to try on, and I thought she was helping another customer and needed to check on her, so when she said, «We don’t order narrow shoes,» I allowed myself to be passed back to that first woman as she chipped in that Born has narrower shoes. Once the other lady successfully got me talking to that first woman, she announced her intention to get some water and then walked a few steps away. At this time, that first woman started talking to that other customer. I walked out, despite the fact that their products seemed like they’d be a good fit for me. If I’d wanted to go somewhere and try on every pair of shoes in the store without help from knowledgeable sales staff, I’d go to DSW.

So I stopped by on impulse while I was in the area for McGuckins. I was the only customer in the store, and it took me five minutes to attract the staff’s attention(they were busy gossiping about vendors, which was actually entertaining). They were helpful once I actually got them to do their job. Found my shoes, size, etc. I asked if they’d match REI’s significantly discounted price. They said they would as long as I provided proof. I said, just look on REI’s website, the shoes are on sale there. They didn’t wanna bother, said just go home and bring proof. I told them once I left the store, I’d just go to REI. They looked shocked, but let me walk out. You know what the best part was? I came home, looked on REI website, and the shoes were additionally discounted even more than the day before, so I, of course, immediately ordered them! I should probably give Pedestrian Shop five stars because thanks to their customer service from hell, I ended up with like 70% discounted cool new shoes!

This branch is convenient if you want to avoid downtown and it is the best place to fine Vibram FiveFingers(they will get your size from other branches if necessary) but certain staff there kind of make me uncomfortable. I still recommend them, though.
