Super friendly and fast service and is the best place for fast pad Thai. Love their hot and sour soup too — haven’t had a bad dish there. Very authentic taste for a good price, this is my go-to lunch spot

Kim’s is the best Vietnamese food you will find in Boulder. It’s quick and easy and the service is friendly and approachable. The phở is by far my favorite item on the menu but their fried rice, lo mein and Vietnamese sandwiches are also top notch. I highly recommend Kim’s!

I used to go here in college — circa 2001 – 2005 — and the food was always good. Last night I went for the first time in close to a decade and could not believe how horrible it was. The food was almost inedible and what little food we did eat gave both me and my fiancé and salt hangover. I ordered the #10 crispy noodles with shrimp and chicken and asked for no celery — got celery but no problem — tried to eat the food and the noodles were seriously hard as a rock. The sauce they gave was like a condensed gravy salt lick. The other dish was the number 11 which was slightly more edible since the noodles weren’t rock hard, but still a salt bomb that was worse than I remember $ 1/scoop Chinese food tasting back in high school. I would highly recommend staying away from this place. I for one will never be back.

I was entirely underwhelmed. My lo mein didn’t even look it was tossed in any sort of oil, and tasted like unseasoned noodles. The sesame chicken was rubbery, bland, and wasn’t anywhere near spicy. Overall the food was pretty horrible. And I didnt even get a fortune cookie. WTF.

I love Kim’s!!! It is a yummy food and fits the college budget. I am not a huge fan of their Chinese dishes but I think they do great Vietnamese food! The couple who works there and own the restaurant are so sweet and always recognize me when I stop by or call in. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some great vietnamese food! I like to get the Vietnamese special with noodles and ‘bbq’ chicken and add what they call«sweet and sour vegetable», which is pickled daikon and carrot. I also enjoy their bahn mi sandwich with ‘bbq’ pork or chicken and ask them to add jalapenos. This sandwich is HUGE and incredible cheap!

I remember really liking the food at Kim’s when I was in college. I don’t know if my palate is more refined now(probably not), or if the quality has slipped, but my most recent visit wasn’t great. Back in my day you could order a ton of pretty delicious food for $ 5. Now everything is $ 6.50−7.00 and not really worth it. I ordered the sesame chicken and my husband ordered chicken with garlic sauce. We waited 29 minutes at a table on their tiny 3-table patio for our food. We were the only people waiting. I used to come here and get food in under 10 minutes when it was busy. So I don’t know what’s up with that. Anyway my chicken was scalding hot and smushy. The sauce lacked any flavor whatsoever. Maybe it would have been crispy if the sauce was ordered on the side, but the breading was just redonk thick. My husband’s chicken was better, but pretty much just chicken stir fried in a brown sauce. So a 30 minute wait for«just okay» food? That won’t be happening again.

Really only two reasons to go here. 1) You’re broke and need to seriously fill-up. 2) You need to seriously fill-up and you’re broke. They are most definitely in the right location to do what they do, though. Right at Univ and Broadway. College kids(stoned or un-stoned) probably dig it. I mean, $ 7 for a «plate» — I ordered what they called«BBQ Pork». This was just ‘grilled’ pork(Costco — The owner was unloading his car when I arrived) on the standard rice noodles. Decent. But really strong for $ 7. Oh, by «BBQ» or «Grilled» I mean pressed onto a George Foreman grill… really…I saw it. The Bahn Mi was frankly terrible. Huge? Yeah. But it was just no bueno… sorta slimy and the huge bun was just too much. BIG bummer there. Not for me… nope…but I completely get it.

With the 4-star average, I thought I had overlooked a hidden gem or something… but like one reviewer said, «Y’all are smoking crack!» We ordered spring rolls, egg rolls, phở, stir-fried noodles, hot and sour soup and a banh mi. All are NOTHING like other Vietnamese restaurants in their quality and taste. The crispy noodles were a salt lick, the regular noodles, eh. I think Panda Express probably has better food and I think their food is gross. What a waste of money, I should’ve gotten Five Guys, Cosmo’s or Abo’s that night instead.

I got the fried rice on a recommendation from a local. It’s at least average to above average(for the price). Too bad they charged me more than menu price. Tons of choices on the menu.

It’s the best lunch deal in Boulder: $ 5 for a GIGANTIC Banh Mi that will tickle your tummy and fill you up for the rest of the day. Kim Food To Go’s sandwiches are what my friends at work and I bet with and pay off our debts with. So delicious, especially when you order them spicy with jalapenos and siracha!

Love this place. Definitely been eating here for a decade now lol. Funny to say that. The staff is so nice and still remember exactly what I like after all this time. A number 5 lunch special with noodles any time of the day. Kim’s is a true old school part of Boulder culture and I smile every time I drive past. Great food for the money and healthier than most other fast food without a doubt. Addicted to spring rolls, yes indeed.

A pretty good spot off the side of the road. Their PHO menu looked good, but it was just too hot of a day for it.

I’ve been going to Kim’s for about 10 years because of their $ 4.00 lunch menu and $ 1 Shrimp Spring Rolls. With Kim’s, you get what you pay for with most dishes but there are a few standout dishes where you get more then your monies worth. I’ve read the reviews and they’re right. Kim’s dishes started to lose some of their appeal mid last year because of a staffing change. It’s a family business and they’ve gone back to the original family line up this month and I’ve already noticed an improvement to their meals. Meats are cooked and seasoned just right, shrimp has returned to their spring rolls, and they’ve started adding more vegetables to their dishes. Some of the dishes I like are the grilled chicken, BBQ Beef, BBQ Pork, Donor Kabob, Tofu Lo Mein and their Phở dishes. I’ve had better versions of the Beef Broccoli and Cashew Chicken at other places but again, considering the price, it’s not bad food. Prices: In that 10 year span, the prices are the same with the exception of $ 2.00 shrimp spring rolls and some lunch entries are now $ 4.50. I don’t think you can argue with kinda price change; considering their lunch is the same price as a uppity coffee drink @ the bucks.

If you are in the need for some cheapish Vietnamese food, Kim’s is the way to go(just don’t look too closely at the cleanliness of the establishment and you will be right). I usually get the beef salad, bbq beef something or rather and the vietnamese rolls to share with my partner. We never have any leftovers because he hoovers everything up and I have a no leftover policy(really, who wants to find a container of crap in the back of your fridge months later) for any sort of asian or indian food. Love when the lady owner says«you wait for me 12 minutes, OK?» Its never ten minutes, its always 12. Also, when she says«you hold bag from bottom, OK?» Cracks me up everytime. Side note: I now know why its so important to hold the bag from the bottom.

Listen up, Boulder-area bahn mi addicts! Kim Food To Go just added banh mi to their menu. You can choose from four different kinds for $ 4.99. So, are they any good? Sadly, not really. It’s too mayo-ey, there aren’t any jalapeños, the carrots and daikon aren’t really pickled, and the meat’s pretty tough. BUT — it’s there, and if you’re feeling really lazy while on the Hill and have a mean craving for some banh mi, you could definitely do worse. The bread is pretty good and there is at least a ghost of that addictive flavor combination that’s so unique to these sandwiches. Also, I just noticed they serve Turkish Doner kebab sandwiches too(???)

After a rough night in Boulder, Phở is the way to go. First time trying Kim’s, their prices are legit for the amount of food you get. We spent about $ 45 for 5 phos, 3 orders of egg rolls, and 2 orders of crab won tons. It was cold outside and there’s really no where to warm up except for a tiny heating fan thing in front of the order line. Yummmmmy gimme some that phooooo. The amount of food we had fed about 8 people.

You know you’re a fan if everytime you’re in the city you stop by. I have been a customer of Kim’s to go since my college years and whenever I’m in Boulder I have to stop by. They give you good portions, great food, and at an excellent price!!! The parking isn’t the best and you can’t eat there in the winter unless it’s a nice day but I HIGHLY recommend their combo fried rice and their combo lo mein.

One of my fav spots to grub in Boulder. Granted this place may be a lil shack no bigger than my living room, it has some EXCELLENT vietnamese food for the price. I have to agree with everyone as far as the #5 lunch special grilled chicken… awesome. The vietnamese egg rolls are the best I’ve ever had as well. Now, the BEST item on the menu(in my opinion) is the last thing I would EVER expect to find here. The doner kebap. A turkish street snack consisting of a pita stuffed with lamb meat, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions. Get the spicy garlic sauce. They offer 2 sizes, the $ 3 and $ 4. I recommend the $ 3 doner kebap, the pita bread is much softer than the $ 4. Hell, try them both and get back to me on your personal preference. I occassionally will drive an hour up to Boulder just for a few of these heavenly pitas. WELL worth the drive.
