So pleased with my & my family’s overall experience at College Optical! Moved from Southern California a little more than a year ago, asked around for recommendations, and I am glad that we did. In terms of customer service, interaction, timeliness, and expertise, our experience with College Optical has been outstanding. Dr Holland is a gifted opometrist who has been highly interactive within exams and in his recommendations. I truly appreciated that he gave me numerous contact lens options with solid reasoning, gave me time to evaluate them, and one turned out to make a big difference in my vision and travel needs. The staff has been terrific, prompt in their follow-up and also easy to deal with in all aspects. Michael Dornbusch has been my primary contact, and his customer service and attention to detail has been flawless, a real pro who has made things easy for me. In addition, they have a great selection of frames and sunglasses, and talented staff to assist you in this area.

Worst service I’ve ever had. The guy at the counter was not only rude but trying really hard to piss me off. I am very nice and polite by the way and I seldom get angry. But the guy is unbelievable and his behavior is just so confusing. I will give stars back if he got some kind of problem; otherwise I really don’t recommend this place.

Be wary of the positive reviews on this page, College Optical has a complete monopoly on the CU insurance plan. It is the only place we can go, and therefore, it’s not smart to leave a bad review when these are far from anonymous. They’ll be in access to your eyes in the future, so who would write anything bad? We can’t go anywhere else. It was this fact that led me to get laser eye surgery yesterday. I am not exaggerating, it was the terrible, unprofessional and uncaring service I received at College Optical that got me thinking about other options. I got LASIK yesterday and could not be happier. The next day, I’m writing this review. The staff is unprofessional, sloppy and deeply uninterested in pleasing customers– more concerned with lunch orders and gossip. The actual doctors were nice enough, but the front desk staff and the people who do the initial testing were bad enough that I elected to have my eyes carved open instead. The equipment is dusty. Instead of leading you around once your contacts are out, they expect you to wander the halls to find rooms and sinks by yourself. They also charge 100 dollars for a contact prescription, which is annoying, but fine, they don’t make the policy. What they also don’t do is provide any transparency or honesty up front about this. They know they have students trapped, and so they just surprise people at the end and– I’m not kidding– sit there smugly as you express surprise. Because they know. They know you can’t do anything. Well, College Optical, I did. Thanks for the encouragement, Lasik is awesome(I would recommend Beyer LASIK on 30th).

I’ve been coming here since we moved to Colorado a few years ago and I’ve been consistently pleased with them. Their selection of frames is astounding, plus they’ll order add’l frames /colors for you to come and try, which I *really* appreciate. We’ve had a few dif’t insurance providers and they’ve taken all of them — I refuse to pay out-of-pocket so I appreciate that. What has stood out the most for me is the thorough service: this last pair of prescription glasses just weren’t working for me, and the entire staff(inc the OD) clearly wanted me to be happy with the finished product. To that end, they ended up seeing me umpteen more times(okay, five) and redid the lenses thrice more as well. I was seriously impressed and pleased with how accommodating they were, always making me feel that what they wanted was for me to have glasses which work and enable me to see better. Got ‘em.

Great service from a knowledgable staff! They’re observant too. Danny was able Ti anticipate my questions about sunglasses before I was able to verbalized them. Mike and Brenan were warm and welcoming, and Dr. Holland corrected my vision! I don’t understand their glass heads, but who cares?; they are pretty clear, anyway. 1. The new location is much improved, clean, bright, well organized. 2. Greet staff was friendly and organized. 3. New patient paperwork photocopied one too many times, beginning to look unprofessional. 4. Dr. Holland was warm, efficient, very patient with my inabilty to decide on lens power during the exam. 5. I arrived early to do paperwork and Dr. Holland was willing to squeeze me in early — really appreciated that. 6. Nice selection of frames. 7. The woman(finance grad) who helped me choose frame and bifocal style was excellent — sense of humor, patient, knowledgeable, and she smiled! 8. Overall — great experience, other shops should try tonmatch the customer service of College Optical. Nice team all around. 9. Damn nice bathrooms. {I receive the new glasses shortly and will update review then}

As a CU student that has some not-so-good eyeballs in my head, I need glasses. I alse need eye exams every so often. So I come here because my insurance covers it. Actually its a really nice place and one of the best experiences I’ve had getting my eyes checked and getting glasses. The exam itself is really easy and they were able to talk me through and actually explain what was going on with my eyes when they were done. Its something that I really like because before this, I went to a children’s eye doctor who asked«Is this one fuzzy or SUPER fuzzy?» So it was a nice change of pace to get the grown up talk. They also explained the different options I could get(aka glassses or contacts) I decided to go with the glasses and got a pretty great deal with my insurance for two frames. They had a great selection of frames, colors and brands to suit me to find exactly what I wanted. It will pain me to have to find a new place for my eye exams and glasses after I graduate but I hope to live close enough to come back and get it done here. I wholeheartedly reccommend you come here if you need an eye exam and the hardware that comes with it.

I had an exam done by Dr. Boyace Holland last summer. No complaints. Seemed like a nice guy. All CU students with the gold health plan are covered for a full eye exam here, so it’s definitely worth checking out. I bought a year’s supply of my contacts here and the price(after rebate) was very competitive with prices found at the big-box stores(surprisingly). Nice perk: grab a burrito from Illegal Pete’s before/after the exam. Downside: have to pay for parking.
