This new convenience store next to the Dining Hall at Chautauqua is a nice addition to the space here but it is nothing special either. If you are a local, carrying your own snacks is probably preferable, by price and by selection. However, tourists visiting the park, especially for the first time, have no other options and this gives them some decent choices. In the past, they needed to take a ride down into Boulder shopping areas, not always easy if they are staying with a group in the overnight accommodations here without easy access to a vehicle. The prices are average for such tourist/resort locations. There are several types of bottled drinks, bottled water, bags of chips and some Dining Hall baked snacks, including various nut and granola bars. There is a standard offering for an espresso and coffee/tea bar. They have several flavors of Dining Hall made ice creams. I tried two flavors and thought they were acceptable but not competitive with the awesome local ice cream and gelato shops in Boulder. My husband tried his favorite flavor which he has had everywhere in Boulder and elsewhere in the world and ranked it as «OK,» maybe even a little odd. A visitor I know recommended the chocolate but she had not tried anything else in Boulder yet. A note to potential visitors. — Though the sign says open 8am to 8pm, in fact, starting the day after Labor Day, I was told that they will only be open 9 – 5 and will close entirely later in the fall.
