Though still a-ok, I do not recommend these Raw Food events to just everyone. I would advise studying the various Raw Food websites on the internet, and also experimenting with preparing Raw Food recipes before attending one of these events. Though some among the various organizers and hosts of the events say that it’s ok to bring something like a bag of organic grapes to share at the events, there are others who will take you aside and let you know that there are many raw foodists who spend hours of time and lots of money preparing items like raw food lasagne or nut-seed loaf, or whatever for these dinners. Therefore, apparently resentment is felt on the part of those who put so much time and $$ investment into the dinners when someone else just shows up with a bunch of organic bananas from Whole Foods. Personally, I find such comparisons and quiet confrontations most unpleasant, and also the hypocrisy of the Yahoo Group emails saying it’s fine to bring organic fruit, and then someone at the Raw potluck saying that’s not true. Darn it, I wish there were still a Raw Foods restaurant in town. Santa, if you’re listening, here’s what I want for Christmas — my very own personal live-in Vegan Chef. Yes, I would like to be raw vegan, with my very own chef. Is that too much to ask?
