Sum up Boulder in one word? Drums.
Everybody here is a drummer, and seems to think that banging on a bongo makes one a musician.
All summer long you can hear drums echoing along the Pearl Street Mall. You can find a drum circle in most of the city’s parks, and just try and walk along the Hill in the spring and fall and not hear at least one hippie laying down a beat.
Who is supplying all these drums? Boulder Drums, a Boulder institution since, well, for as long as I’ve been living here at least! I remember the shop’s old store on Pearl Street. Cool place. Great location. Of course, it went the way of many of those old shops on the East End, relocated when they put in that huge mixed-​use parking garage.

Good selection of kits, percussion and other parts. Knowledgeable staff. Much better than going to a generic music store.
