If you want to go to a Boston bar where you can’t listen to Boston sports and I have cockroaches walking across the bar while you’re eating this is the place for you…

Was going to a show at the Orpheum so we took a walk around the block to see where we could grab some food before the show. First place had an hour wait, second place told us that they were ’ at capacity’(didn’t give us a wait time), third place didn’t have a menu out front, and then we found the HUBPUB. Not too crowded, had plenty of tables available upstairs. One waitress was real friendly and the other just wanted to be someplace else, but she was serviceable and we got out of there with plenty of time to spare. Food was very good. Had the fish and chips, which ran under 15 bucks, which had good breading, was flaky, and quite tasty. It was a huge slab as well, and was most likely the best fish and chips Ive had in quite awhile. Krinkle cut fries and cole slaw probably came out of a bag but they were pretty good as well. If I were in the area again, I would most likely hit this place first next time. Good stuff.

I’ve been here about 10 times. The prices are cheap, which is great on the wallet. But you get what you pay for. There’s no real décor, it’s kinda ugly inside, upstairs looks like it’s from the 70s or 80s. The guy at the door is a character. He’s funny, engaged, and wants everyone to have a good time, so that’s nice. However, the service from the waitresses is unfriendly, rushed, impersonal. That’s been consistent every time I’ve ordered, they seem really busy. Either they are understaffed every time I am there or they are mismanaged and their workflow needs improvement. In any case, last visit I started getting wrong orders when I was with my group of friends. I ordered a pitcher of Sam Adams Lager and I got an IPA. I ordered a pitcher of Heineken and I got a Red Ale. I went to complain. One wrong order? Ill overlook it. Second wrong order I had to say something. When I approached my waitress she was unapologetic and blamed me and the bartenders downstairs for the mistake. She talked back to me as she was looking at her register, she didn’t even speak to my face and then interrupted me to finish other people’s orders. She started to argue with me and even got her co worker to argue with me. Honestly, I just wanted to make sure my next order wouldn’t be screwed up. She provided the worst service you could for that situation. As a result, we didn’t get anything else and left early. I don’t want to go back. Finally, not the bigger deal but the TV screens upstairs aren’t HD and have color distortions. Sucks if you’re going there to watch football…

Update: this place is still amazing. This time my husband and I split the thanksgiving sandwich and ordered an extra side of fries. We found out when we got the ticket that we were not charged for the extra fries, but we certainly got them. It was an extremely satisfying meal for a total of $ 15 for both of us, including the tip. You just can’t beat that.

I’ve always found this bar boring. Only ever stopped in because I was in the area with my coworkers. The bartender, I think her name is Fozzy, is very rude and overly dramatic. I watched her kick out a patron, very cool person I’d been talking to, for no good reason, something really dumb. Maybe they resort to this idiocracy to make the boring ambience more exciting? I don’t know. You have a long day at work and want to unwind and relax at a bar, the last thing you want to deal with is bartenders, with the tinkerbell complex, exerting their«power» to kick out perfectly harmless patrons. There are plenty other bars in the area to unwind after work, with way friendlier staff, much funner atmosphere, who understand the importance of handling their patrons with professionalism. Even though the food is plain, greasy and the nacho’s were soggy, the biggest turn off for me was the lack of professionalism of the staff.

When visiting Boston, I make it a point to visit this establishment. If you’re looking for awesome fish and chips, look no further then here! A friendly Pub with an enjoyable menu.

One visit, two very different experiences. We stumbled upon this pub – first impressions: fun, divey, real Boston. Female bartender was great! The place wasn’t crowded, and she chatted us up and gave us good ideas for our stay. The male bartender cornered her, and she never returned, but he did. What a jerk – telling us he hated tourists blah, blah, blah. We left and didn’t go back.

I love this place! Straight up pub fare, no frills, and a Golden Tee game to boot! Great lobster rolls, thick burgers, fried chicken, fried pickles, and cheese fries with gravy! Not for the overly health conscious! Service can be sluggish, but food always rocks. Oh and awesome beer selection. Cool, off-the-beaten-path location!

The Hub Pub was the first place we stopped in Boston, while waiting for the oyster happy hour at Marliave to begin(more details on that deliciousness later, my friend). It advertises that it’s the friendliest pub in town. I didn’t notice any particular difference, but maybe I happen to frequent other friendly pubs? We ordered a couple brews and an order of cheese fries to tide us over(because, you know, we must be eating at all times while on vacation). The fries were gigantic. Enormous. Super cheesy and delicious. They came with gravy on the side, which I was initially skeptical of(maybe this is an east coast thing?), but the beefy savoriness of the gravy really balanced out the fatty cheesiness of the cheese and fries. We tapped out after eating about 1⁄3 of them, and I began to wish there was some app that would let me share the rest of my fries with other bar patrons who looked like they could use some fries to soak up the beer. Definitely a decent pub to grab a bite and a pint, but don’t go in there expecting Pollyanna behind the bar. I mean, she’s friendly, but would you really want the her behind the bar?

One of the best, most friendly bars I have ever been to! My husband and I stopped in over St Paddys weekend to escape the sideways snowstorm and hordes of people at the parade. Jamie behind the bar and Dave at the door made our afternoon so much fun! Jamie poured our drinks super strong and was fun, attentive, and generous the whole afternoon. He bought my husband and I shots and hung out with us after his shift was over. It was one of the best experiences with a bartender I’ve probably ever had. The bar itself is super casual and a dive, which is exactly the vibe that we were looking for. TVs everywhere, a jukebox and friendly people. Dave at the door got up at one point and started singing«My heart will go on.» Great stuff. To soak up all our booze, we ordered the fish and chips, which were amazing! I wasn’t expecting a dive bar to do such great food. I really was blown away by the friendliness and generosity of everyone at Hub Pub. The bartender comped several of our drinks and made this such a fun place to stay to get out of a snow storm. Thanks guys!

For me, it doesn’t get much better than The Hub Pub! After stumbling out of the convention center after-parties at Inbound14, me and my drinking/party mates needed a bite to eat close to our hotel. The Hub Pub appeared to be the only place open late, so we stumbled in. Open bar stools straight ahead and a super friendly bartender — more beers! We ordered food, drank more beers and stumbled out an hour later(around 1:30AM). I loved: Friendly service Cold beer Divey atmosphere Cold beer Good food Cold beer 5 stars for The Hub Pub!

Oh Hub Pub. You beautifully weird dive/sports bar. Forget Faneuil Hall. This is the place to hit up after work if you work downtown and like a nice cool frosty one. The HP’s got lots of affordable pitchers and the best darn disco fries around. If you don’t like disco fries, that’s fine. More for me. As sports bars go, this is not a very pretentious one. There’s often a mix of young business types and old-timers in flannel milling about. Great place to catch the Bruins or the BoSox after working late. Or you know, any time. Any time!

Food is good drinks are cheap and there is a JUKEBOX . Service is prompt and efficient… definitely would be back soon. Maybe for a girls night!!!

We were visiting Boston on our honeymoon in May and stumbled upon the Hub Pub on one of our adventures along the Freedom Trail. Literally my favorite stop! We have found our neighborhood bar for whenever we move to Boston. We love you Hub Pub and can’t wait to return! Hub pub was the ONLY place other than our hotel that we stopped into more than once. We had so much fun, the staff is so friendly and made us feel like old friends, even though we live hundreds of miles away. We will be back, and I hope you all check them out! Great Irish bar in one of the best cities ever! Cheers Boston!

Literally my favorite bar in Boston. I am not exaggerating, I lived in the area, I went to law school in the area and I have a fair basis for comparison. It is what some would call«divey», but I’d argue it adds to the charm. It’s the kind’ve bar that sums up the city in general. The drinks are always great, always reasonably priced. They have a stocked and loaded bar and they’ll provide just about anything. They have a fair selection on tap and a good selection of bottled beers. They have great prices for pitchers and nice specials on things like Molson’s and Coors The bar is also in an excellent location. It is almost right across from the capital. It is close enough to Quincy Market that it is easily within walking distance, but far enough that it is not overpriced. It is about a 10 minute walking distance from the Garden, so it makes for a great pre-game place for Bruins games, Celtics games, and other assorted events. The insides are also charming and friendly. There are several tv’s and even a drop down screen for a projector on certain nights. Most of all it has the friendliest staff of any bar in Boston. The bartenders are excellent people who are funny, engaging and friendly. It never feels as though they are stretching or going out of their way to talk and laugh with customers. They legitimately are just nice and funny people. Hands down, the Hub Pub is the best bar in Boston.

Checked out this friendly little pub on Halloween night and immediately fell in love with the mediocrity of the place. There’s 6 – 80 million big screen televisions everywhere playing different games, a couple tables and the bar on the lower level and a bigger more engaging set of tables and bar stuff on the upstairs level. The bouncer at the door was really big, but in the friendly teddy bear kind of way and I had to resist poking him in the belly. Yes, it really was that kind of a place. The food is reallly mediocre bar food, but in huge portions and at a decently moderate price. I got a plate of jalapeño poppers(with red chilli peppers, weird right?) for like 8 bucks and shipyard pumpkin on tap with a cinnamon and sugar rim. My friends devoured a bunch of their cocktails and cheesy fries and we bobbed along to the confusing plethora of 90’s and 00’s pop and hip hop music. There was nothing really too special about this place and that’s what made it so much fun. I’ll definitely be back on game night, it’s one of the few bars downtown where I’m guaranteed to get a seat, a cheap receipt, and a smile from everyone on staff.

Grade A, top of the line pub. Just walked out after a pitcher and loaded nachos for $ 17. We spend 2 hours there. I don’t think there’s a better/cheaper place in the city! We sat upstairs and the waitress was very nice, always checked on us and didn’t forget us. Their bathrooms in the basement are really deplorable though, its $ 10 to get a lock that works. I’ll give you the $ 10.
