The most expensive tooth in my mouth and the worst one. I complained at the time that the implant didnt’t feel right. Smug Dr. Wozny when he wasn’t on the phone with his wife, calls he took while I was in the chair, said. It’s just a little small, well they certainly didn’t charge me less for less of a tooth. Ten years later it still bothers me and looks out of place in my smile. I had a dentist in NC ask me about it and the dentist I’ve been using for the last 6 years back in Mass. said it was obviously not done right. I’ve never been able to forget what a bad experience I had with this group, especially Dr. Wozny. It surprised me to see he is still practicing.

I liked seeing the hygienist there but I felt that we never came up with a dental plan for my teeth to keep them healthy, which is important with all the issues that I have. There were cracks in my teeth that were never mentioned and I have to take care of my gums.
I also found out from my new dentist that some of the work done wasn’t correctly– bite issue on filling and there was so much work done on a tooth that I now need a crown.
I came in for acute pain and it took three visits to figure out that I had a cavity that need to be addressed. The service was impersonal and expensive and I did not appreciate my dentist talking over me to his assistants the entire time he was putting in my crown.
The only reason I kept coming back to this office for 5 years was for the convenient location, hours, and the hygienist.

Hirschberg is a great dentist to have if you work in downtown Boston. I schedule visits during my lunch break and they always take me in on time and get me out the door quickly. Some of the service seems pricey but they have always done a great job on my teeth.

PROS:
— Professional space
— Little wait time
— Efficient billing
— OK for people with healthy teeth, only going in for cleanings
CONS:
— Extremely expensive
— Impersonal service (doctors rarely remember you)
— Tendency to let issues go until they become a huge problem (lends to ability to charge $$$ without a second consultation)
DETAIL REVIEW BELOW:
I had to write this review because there are so many positive comments, but I don’t think it gives a complete picture of the services here.
The pros of this place is are that it’s clean, there are a lot of doctors, and I never really had to wait to see a doctor or cleaning specialist. The process for getting in and out is easy, so for many people that work in the area, that’s enough.
However, BEWARE, the negatives here far out-​weigh the positives!
I’ve been going to Hirshberg Dental for 2.5 years on the recommendation of a colleague with good teeth. I will be the first to admit that though my dental hygiene is pretty rigorous, my dental health is awful, so I needed more than the bi-​annual clean-​ups my colleague needed.
For the 2.5 years and thousands of dollars I’ve spent with Hirshberg Dental, the doctor I see, Dr. Wozny, never remembers my name or my history. He flits in and out of the room on whims and since there are no doors, I can hear him flirting with other employees instead of consulting me on my dental needs or a longer dental plan.
As mentioned above, I’ve spend a lot of money with Hirshberg and I believe the reason for this is primarily because of their lack of client attention.
They have a tendency to demand expensive x-​rays and full-​head scans in order to get all the data into their flashy computer systems, but it seems like they do nothing with it! They’ve caught issues (like small cavities), but neither the front desk nor my dentist EVER sat down with me in the 2.5 years that I went to discuss how we would attack my dental problems. In fact, the front desk never worked with me to proactively schedule ANYTHING — I always had to go up and request the work myself.
Likely because of this, I’ve been into the office and told that I needed a root canal by Dr. Wozny — on a tooth that he identified as having a cavity a year earlier, but never asked me to schedule an appointment for. Furthermore, he also has a tendency to fear-​monger. In this case I got a second opinion and was told that a filling would be a viable option as opposed to a full root canal. When I told him that, he grumpily replied, «Well, it’s up to you. I’ll just see you in my chair again in a month when it starts hurting like hell because you didn’t want to get a root canal.» For the record, it’s been a year and so far so good (knock on wood).
In the past, when I’ve had to make an emergency appointment because of tooth pain, I’ve had to just go with whatever he recommended, which was (surprise!) usually a very costly procedure. Since that childish comment I’ve been questioning his motives more and more and realized that he’s a pretty awful dentist.
On top of all that, the company I worked for has great dental insurance, but I was paying about $ 600-​$ 1000 out-​of-​pocket for every visit ON TOP OF the insurance claims. I later found out from a colleague she had several fillings a year fully covered with other dentists.
If you need any kind of real dentistry, Hirshberg is definitely NOT my recommendation for you. The only reason I have more than 1 star here is because the teeth cleaning technicians are nice and the service is efficient. For anything else, STEER CLEAR!

Great dentist. I love that they can do crowns in house. Last place required several trips to get work done.

I kind of want to say, «It’s a dentist office people — not a night club!»
But the interior is modern and kind of nice … and they sometimes have good music playing…
I’ve been going for over 10 years now and haven’t had any major issues.
The workers are all nice.
I don’t have anything to compare it to in this city — but I’d say it would be worth while to give it a try if you need a dentist.

On paper, Hirshberg Dental looks highly professional with a state of the art office and efficient, friendly front office staff. But step «behind the curtain» and it quickly becomes clear that this is the dental equivalent of a not-​so-​reputable car dealer, eager to push expensive, often unnecessary services to maximize profits. In order to «sell» products, I’ve had the staff and the proprietor provide questionable recommendations even to the point of outright dishonesty. The proprietor, for example, insisted that he would lose his license to practice if patients did not submit to full-​mouth x-​rays every five years. When I checked with the board of registration, this turned out to be untrue. I brought this to his attention and he changed his story. The dentists here have the required technical skills but I found that integrity and a sincere interest in patients and not just their checkbook is lacking.

Best dental office I have ever been to, they are amazing and I have recommended many people to start going here! Dr. Rosenfeld is patient and explains anything you ask her and is so fast and perfect. Thank you!

I came here on a reccomendation from a co-​worker. I saw in another review that another Unilocaler didn’t like this place cause they felt it was like a dentist factory. I actually like that, it’s close by my work and I love that I can get in and out during a lunch break. All of the staff I dealt with was very friendly, the dental assistant who cleaned my teeth was nice, we talked about their good music selection they had playing. I think I heard Hotel California then November Rain. Lastly, the actual dentist came in to verify everything and have a little chat. I got a clean bill of a health and I was out of there.

Dr Andre Hashem has consistently delivered great results. I have visited this facility numerous times. Dr Hashem keeps a keen interest in his patients well-​being and always flexible. I’ve been very pleased with the results and will continue my treatments here.

I had to write a review because some of the negative comments are a bit odd to me. I’m sure office staff everywhere gossips and I’ve had plenty of hygenists who aren’t particularly gentle (both here and at other places), but isn’t the ultimate goal to have your teeth clean? Honestly, who cares that the waiting room is «clinical like» as long as its clean?
The one reason I’m giving Dr. Hirshberg 5 stars is because I trust him not to do unnecessary work, which is the number one most important thing to me. I moved to Boston from NY a few years ago, where I saw a random dentist who told me I had three cavities. Stupidly, I believed him and let him fill 2 of them (we ran out of time for the 3^rd, otherwise I would have done that one as well!). When I moved to Boston, I immediately saw Dr. Hirshberg, who basically told me my 3^rd «cavity» might be a soft spot but didn’t need to be filled yet, and he’d continue to check on it every 6 months. 3 years later, my «cavity» is still fine, and I’m kicking myself for letting that NY dentist anywhere near my teeth.
Ultimately having a dentist I trust is the most important thing to me, so for that I give Dr. Hirshberg 5 stars.

Luckily, my parents gave me a healthy set of chompers. Last time I had my teeth cleaned before Hirschberg was, well, let’s just say years longer than it should have been. When I told my dental hygenist, she made some grimacing faces, smiled, and said «Let’s see what we’ve got.» Twenty minutes later, fully cleaned without any cavaties, we did the routine x-​ray, got a visit from my assigned dentist — whose name escapes me as he told me my teeth were great and didn’t need any work — I was heading out the door. Just had my six month follow-​up, and I was in, out, and back to work in about 45 minutes.

I’ve been a patient at HD for over a year. Their location is extremely convenient for me (and those in the financial/​PO Sq. district). They don’t waste my time. The dentist’s are always friendly and ready to answer my questions.
A few days ago I had a dental concern, so I called the office and was able to see a dentist about 20 minutes later, and they did not bill me for the quickie visit. That’s what I call service!
I also want to point out that the Dentists I’ve seen in the Boston office are really good looking… do what you will w/​that nugget.

I’m a new patient at Hirshberg. The first time I went in, they told me that I need some extra work. I’ve always been told that my gums were a bit bad, but never all of this extra work. They took extra x-​rays and then charged me for it. I called to complain and they took them off my bill (40.00 for one x-​ray that I didn’t ask for!)
I went back to get the procedure that they strongly recommended and they quoted one cost for the procedure. I had the procedure done and it was good — the staff treated me well. However, a month after the procedure they invoiced me for more than doulbe the estimate. Can you imagine being estimated (of which they don’t emphasize strongly enough) one figure and being billed for more than that amount after the procedure?
I called and spoke with Dana who then took 50% off my bill, recommending that I get a pre-​treatment quote before any treatment. Well, trust me, if I continue going, I will be getting a pre-​treatment quote on even basic cleanings. They have handled all of my questions in a professional manner, but the fact remains that I’ve had two billing mishaps & I’ve been going there less than 6 months. In the past, I’ve never had billing problems with dentists. I’d stay away unless you’re prepared to hand out cash from your paycheck every week on dental costs…

Wow. This was the second-​worst dental experience of my life. I’ve never really minded going to the dentist — I’ve never had a cavity and generally have really healthy teeth. But today, the hygenist put me in SEVERE pain! She was hacking at my gums like nobody’s business! Then the dentist came in, and he was totally arrogant and unfriendly. I can’t believe they’d treat new patients like this. In addition, the office is not very nice (dingy carpet, stark white walls and ugly art) plus they still use the little spit sinks! I didn’t even know dentists still used those things! My other dentists have always used the little water-​sprayer thing and the suction tube. At any rate, I will NOT be back to Hirshberg and would encourage anyone else to look elsewhere. The only good thing I can say about them is that they got me in really fast.

I’ve been to Hirshberg 3 times and now vow to find another dental practice owned and operated like a neighborhood business rather than a corporate entity!
I was made to feel like an outcast for not wanting to pony up $$$ for x-​rays and the dentist even had the nerve to ask me to sign a release form so I couldn’t sue them if I had any cavities down the road they couldn’t detect without x-​rays. (I told him next time which won’t ever be happening!)

If you don’t have money or great insurance, don’t bother! They will let you know that and treat you as such. The Dr. was arrogant and the work was below par and had I had the hind sense I should have reported them to the Dental Society. Don’t go there.

I’ve been going to Hirshberg Dental for the past couple years and I have really loved it. The receptionists are friendly and helpful — the hygienists are AWESOME! I see Dr. Susan Rosenfeld and she has been pretty patient with my dental work anxiety! I’ll be honest. I don’t really like the dentist’s office. I get worried I will have a cavity! My first visit here I found I did have a cavity — but they are so great here, getting it filled was really not so bad. Their facilities are so clean, bright & up to date — even me and my anxiety are able to relax here and enjoy my cleaning! Hoorah for good dental care at Hirshberg Dental!

How great can a dentist really be?
Well, I give Hirshberg 4 stars for: location, friendly staff and immediate care when needed.
Dr. Hirshberg, on my first visit to him, found the root of the pain that I’d been having for a while — a cracked tooth that went all the way in one straight line from back to front. How could my other dentists possibly have missed this?
I was lucky enough to only have to endure getting a crown, rather than a root canal (oof) or getting the tooth pulled (kill me now). After a week, I was still in excrutiating pain and it felt like I was going through the procedure from way back when where lobotomies were done with ice picks. They were able to get me in the afternoon that I called to fix the crown. Now that’s service!
The office itself isn’t my favorite, where as you walk down the hall you see other patients in the oh-​so-​unattractive position of lying back with their mouths wide open, drooling and attempting to talk when we all know that’s not possible. If only the exam rooms offered a bit more privacy…

I arrive, about 5 minutes early. The seemingly friendly receptionist asks me to have a seat, so I wait. I read people magazine from cover to cover — what a treat. I refuse to buy it, but I secretly devour it when it’s in front of me. It’s like having frosted flakes when your parents only bought corn flakes (and FYI Mom & Dad, they do NOT taste the same), but I digress. So, I finish people magazine and I move onto Cosmo. As I’m reading «The psychology of successful dieters» and «Secrets to keeping your man happy» the hygienist calls me in:
Hygienist: Sara you are 20 minutes late for your appointment
Me: But I’ve been sitting in the waiting room for the past 20 minutes.
Hygienist: We can’t take you in this late, we have other patients to see, we will have to reschedule
Me: There is one other person in the waiting room
Hygienist: It’s our policy not to take in late patients
Me: But I read people magazine from cover to cover! I even started on Cosmo. This is an outrage!
Hygienist: How’s next Tuesday.
So I went back next Tuesday, and actually got my teeth cleaned. When the hygienist (not the same one, so lets caller her Hygienist2 to minimize confusion) finished, she informed me that Dr. Hirshberg would be in to see me in a few minutes. So I optimistically wait in my bib.
And I wait
Hygienist2 informs me that he will be right in.
And I wait some more. After about 15 minutes:
Hygienist2: Sara, the doctor will not be able to see you today
Me: But I have an appointment
Hygienist2: Yeah, um, he’s on the phone with the computer company who runs our software, and there seems to be a glitch
Me: but I have an appointment, can’t the glitch wait?
Hygienist2: We will have to reschedule, how’s next Tuesday?
Oh man, do NOT go there.
