Price is high, food portions are too small. The taste of dishes is ok but it is not awesome considering it’s a Taj. I was disappointed.

We went to The Café at Taj Boston for the desert and coffee. I ordered apple and pear tart, my husband had some kind of chocolate desert which was supposed to be made out of dark Valhrona chocolate… both were just very sugary concoctions. Diabetes alert! We don’t intend to go back there ever!

I love goat. I mean, it’s definitely a favorite. When I saw it on the menu in the Biryani dish, it was a must have. Unfortunately, the goat was just a whole lot of fat and bones and little else. I expect some fat, but this definitely was not what I was hoping for. I got a smidge of meat and a pile of rice, definitely pass on the goat. Naan was what you would expect, but not free?! Seriously. I mean, I get it, this is a classy joint, but seriously, charging me for normal Naan? Scandalous. Oddly my best dish was the Tuna Tartare I elected to start with. Cool, fresh, great flavor, with that hint of curry. My mom and sister both REALLY liked their courses, which is the only thing keeping this thing from 2 stars. I don’t think this is gunna be your best option for Indian in Boston, but I could be wrong.

Amazing Indian food ! Probably the best I’ve ever had! My husband loved it too. I have now had the chicken biryani twice, it has consistently been delicious. Loved the mango lassi and naan as well. Service is great(as would be expected in a hotel) so am surprised to see previous reviews to the contrary. The décor is cute, like an old fashioned tea room.

Had a great experience here with my friend a few nights ago. We both ordered from the indian menu, I had the chickpea dish with soft bread. The chickpeas came out a different color than expected(brownish black!) but they tasted delicious and the soft break pieces were warm and buttery tasting, yumm. They also served us bread and butter, and these tiny bited sized fancy bits of bread with chicken salad on top. The waiter was very attentive and didn’t mind that we stayed at the table at least an hour after finishing our meal while we talked.

This is by far the best Indian food you can get not in Boston but in the entire country. There is a reason — the chef is from Taj Bombay you don’t just become a chef there because you feel like cooking one day. The food the ingredients the spices and every dish including pickles are made in the kitchen. I can assure you, you cannot get Indian food better than this in India or in London I am surprised that the ratings of this place are not higher. I read some negative reviews about service and specifically about Michael. you have to realize you’re coming to this restaurant to enjoy an experience and not just to eat. He is a nice guy. He went out of his way and got us a few free samples which I thought was very nice of him to do. he is a Persian guy and enjoyed treating us very well. The food will take its time in coming and it’s absolutely worth the wait and you have to enjoy the gaps in the middle don’t just show up to eat show up to enjoy an evening. This place in my opinion belongs all the way to the top and of course the food is going to be expensive it deserves being that

We went here for the second time for a belated Mothers Day brunch. I can say that I will certainly be back. As a seafood lover, my head almost exploded with the amount of sushi, shrimp, oysters, crab claws, and lox that was spread in front of me. My kids and wife loved the waffles and made to order eggs/omelettes. The delicious Bloody Mary’s are a great compliment to the food. The assortment of deserts are great and the view of the city is magnificent. This is a special event destination for my family, but not so exorbitant that we have to think twice if the occasion calls for a great meal. It is one of those experiences that you just don’t want to end, and you wish that you could eat double what you normally can. The brunch at the Taj is one of the best in Boston. Highly recommended.

The service is usually good at The Café, but the food tends to be on the mediocre and overpriced side.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here, from the friendly service to the delicious food. Service: we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome! The host and waitstaff treated all of the customers with good humor and loads of attention. Our server, Michael, went out of his way to make the little boy at a table near ours feel like the star of the evening. Food: So good! I had the cod with soba and baby bok choy, which was so flavorful and well balanced. Taking a cue from another Unilocaler, my husband ordered the chicken biryani, which was an enormous portion, but so scrumptious that he finished it all! Our only regret is that we were so full we couldn’t stay for dessert. Highly recommend this cozy spot.

Taj Boston is a place you want to be on special occasions or want to impress someone. Food is really awesome here. Very limited menu, good selection of wines and everything is less oily, not too spicy and very flavorful. Biryani here, chicken and vegetarian is the best. Only bad part is it takes forever for waiter to come and take your order or get the food. I timed it yesterday. I was here at 8:00 pm, waiter came to take orders at 8:45 and food came around 9:30. If they could improve on this delay it will be best place to go on special occasions. Also mind you this place is pricey, biryani cost $ 28 here and portions are small. Still it is worth.

It’s sad there are so many one-star reviews. I don’t get it. It’s a hotel restaurant. After staying in a number of highly-rated hotels around the world, and several more lower, I don’t think service in the café was that slow. It’s not like going to a Michelin-rated restaurant where one would expect to be waited on hand and foot. The waitstaff is pleasant and my water glass was never empty. Certainly, it’s not the place to go if you’re in a rush to get to the theatre. It’s a hotel restaurant! It’s very comfortable, the seats, that is. They are plush, cushiony, and inviting. I sat at a table for close to 3 hours working on my laptop and enjoyed a well-executed vegetable omelet while my derrière nestled down an inch or two deep. I almost stayed for lunch but decided to get my pampered butt to the gym instead. The coffee, a darker roast, was no over-roasted Starbucks. Dining at the café at least three times, I haven’t sat there wondering how long it would be before being served. For dinner, I had half a pappardelle and an Indian dish. Both were delicious. My dining partner also enjoyed his meal, which included a clam chowder. The clam meat was not dry the way it can get when overcooked. The suggested wine pairings were excellent. There’s a steak on the menu and plenty of vegetarian choices. Seems like a welcome to a tired, hungry traveler.

We are guests at the hotel, and here is my review. $ 9 dollars for a naan!!! The host Jason came over and was very helpful. We got the Dal Makani which was good. It was a little too salty, but still good. We also got the Chicken Tikka Masala at Jason’s recommendation. It was fine. I’ve had better They never refilled our water. I’m so thirsty… 4 stars for the food. 2 stars for the prices.

Ridiculous prices for mediocre small-portioned food and drinks. My overpriced $ 16 martini was good though. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for dinner. Will not be back.

First time here I love everything else about this place except the service is kinda slow for the standard of this place, waited a long time for the waiter to greet me, for drinks and food. I reek don’t think I should’ve asked for refill my water neither. But if you are old and white you pro enjoy the better service here

Five star food, one star service: So little things like asking for water, asking for coffee, asking for a bread basket, asking for the staff to bring the right tea that you asked for(chai) and then not once did they check on us to see how the meal tasted until they asked, «may we clear this.» I wouldn’t care about this if it weren’t a 5 star restaurant, but it is, so I do care… While the food was truly incredible, a delicious curry, next time we’ll walk down the street to the Four Seasons where the service and food are consistently excellent.

Last Sunday was my best friends birthday. She was having friends in from out of town and I wanted to have a very special brunch for her. I booked a reservation at the Taj Café a couple months ahead of time because of the positive reviews and the high expectation that the Taj has set for itself. To begin with it took over 20 minutes for our drink order to even be taken. The birthday girl was told to «hold on a minute» when she asked our waiter for a cocktail menu. From there it took even longer to receive the drinks and to place our food order. The food did not take too long to come out and everyone was mildly pleased with the food itself. However, as we were wrapping up our dining experience we asked for the bill to be split 6 ways. After a long wait and no visit back from the waitstaff we asked a different waiter to find our waiter. After another long wait, still nothing. So after hunting down the manager ourselves he offered no apologies and said they would be with us shortly. After an hour from when we initially asked for the bill we had really lost it. We searched for the manager again, but he was nowhere to be found. After going to the front desk to ask for assistance. Our friends had trains to catch and the wait was interfering with their travel plans. After about an hour and fifteen minutes a second manager came who was just as inept but at least moderately more apologetic. After explaining how long we’ve waited, and that it was our friends birthday, and that we were not rushing to make trains, the manager still offered no compensation or remedy. The final straw was once our party had gotten home and reviewed their credit card statements some of us were charged 3 times for over $ 150.00. I have already reported these as fraudulent charges and we are waiting for a response. Overall the food was decent, the waitstaff was terrible, and the managers were the absolute worst. From such a highly acclaimed establishment I would have expected a significantly better experience. Save your time and money and next time go down the street to the Four Seasons.

Not quite the Taj at Campton place(which is michelin rated restaurant), however I got the ‘two eggs any style” which comes with eggs of your choice, bacon or sausage, fingerling potatoes, and toast. The eggs were seriously MAGICAL. I have never had eggs as good as the eggs there anywhere ever. Although expensive, the staff was friendly and the food was fantastic!

We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at The Café. Service was exceptional and friendly and the food was delicious. For dinner, I started with the duck pâté appetizer and for my entrée, I enjoyed the short ribs with potato purée. My boyfriend had the shrimp cocktail & the filet for his entrée. Two apps, two entrees and two glasses of wine cost $ 193(including 20% tip). Breakfast for him was basic scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon and an English muffin. Mine was a bit more elaborate: I had the smoked salmon & caviar Eggs Benedict and a side of bacon. We both had coffee, he had an orange juice and I, a mimosa. I was very pleased with my meal & would highly recommend. The cost for breakfast was $ 100(including $ 20% tip)

This no apologies, old-school hotel dining room attracts mature jet setters for well-proportioned, impeccably prepared British and Indian standards. Perfection assured, you can enjoy your company and conversation in peace – a revelation!
