They nailed it on the southern feel setup, but menu was limited and boring. Ribs were good but nothing I can l’t get somewhere else. The only thing I couldn’t stop picking on was the super size fluffy biscuit.

This is 100% the best BBQ I’ve had in Boston. I’ve been here twice and was put to sleep with the most delicious brisket and biscuits(with honey butter I’ve ever had). It’s in a great location right by Fenway and is a great space. There are large wooden tables spread throughout the space as well as a large bar to sit at. It all looks out onto Boylston so it’s a great spot to hang out and people watch. As soon as you walk in here you’re slapped in the face with smokey meat and I’m all for it. As soon as we sat down, I got to business. We ordered the salt and pepper potatoes, one rib and a bucket of biscuits to start. I got the brisket plate with BBQ beans and my mom got the pulled chicken with collard greens. The potatoes were large crispy, flaky chunks of potatoes perfectly fried and served with a nice dill, mayo dipping sauce. It was a pretty good portion and these were delicious. The rib was super juicy and moist and full of smokey flavor. I had tried the biscuits during my first trip so I knew what I was expecting. These things are flaky, dense, cavernous mountains of dough layered to perfection. These are the best biscuits I’ve ever had and if I died with one in my mouth I’d die happy. Add the honey butter to this and you have the best combo of all-time. Honestly you could come here and eat nothing but the biscuits and honey butter and leave completely satisfied. The brisket is more tender and juicier than any piece of BBQ I’ve ever had. It’s awesome on its own and when you throw in their sauces it takes it to another level. They give you a generous portion for the lunch plate as well. It’s hard to imagine getting anything other than this when I come here. The beans were alright. A little harder than I would have liked and I was not a huge fan of the sauce on them but they weren’t bad. My mom’s pulled chicken was very moist and flavorful. It tasted a little salty for my tastes but still probably the best pulled chicken I’ve had. The collards were awesome. These collards were mixed with little chunks of meat and the flavor permeated throughout the entire cup of them. I could eat these as a side with every meal. Overall, this place is a must visit if you like BBQ at all or just good food in general. The service has been speedy and attentive each time I’ve been there and I can’t really say anything negative about the place. Keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll be back soon enough!

Went in with the ultimate test, a friend who was allergic to gluten. We didn’t have to wait long at all, although they were kind of busy. We were given the specials and he listed everything that was gluten friendly. We both ordered our own plates and then got the lunch lady tray which is 4 additional sides. The sides were tasty and the meat was tender. We were pretty pleased with the food. The biscuits with the butter, lord I could eat those every day. My friend almost risked her gluten allergy to taste a biscuit(I stopped her though). The drinks are strong as well! The only complaint is that the food is salty. But overall worth trying!

Came here to try something different. The cocktails were great. Nice and strong. The food was amazing especially the leftovers the next day! I had the fried chicken, Mac and cheese and coleslaw of which the Mac and cheese was the winner! My fiancé had the pulled pork and grits which were good too. The fried tomatoes to start were mouth watering as well as the biscuits. Worth a try although a bit expensive for what it is in my opinion.

Sweet Cheeks is a no non-sense type of place. Met friends for dinner here. It’s a good thing because there was a long line for a table. If you are a carnivore and like your pork, this is the place for you! I had a simple pulled pork sandwich. Part of the problem is that the menu layout isn’t that great and not very descriptive. I would have chosen one of my friend’s plate had the menu explained it better. I also ordered the collard greens. Looked more like leafy greens but I thought gave a good contrast to the sandwich. My sandwich was just ok. We ordered biscuits for starters. They were quite large. But considering how tasty the honey butter is that comes with them, the better more biscuit the better :) There are three hot sauces on the table. The yellowish colored sauce is definitely packs in the most heat! But not necessarily the most tasty. There is a more orangy colored sauce that tended to be more vingary. The third sauce was just right, it was more like a bbq sauce with a little extra kick. Too bad Unilocal doesn’t do half stars, But I would give this place more like 3.5 stars.

I went here recently and it was absolutely delicious. A tad overpriced in my opinion, but that wouldn’t deter me from coming back. The biscuits were large, warm, and paired with the honey butter makes it worth HAVING. Also, the sweet tea is the best I’ve had since moving from Virginia.

They sell a bucket of biscuits. I think if you ate all of them you would probably die and go directly to heaven. A flaming bbq heaven full of brisket.

There could be more things to do with the biscuits they have. I believe it’s pretty good, and it gets them the second star. The barbecue did not hit the mark for me. The combination of smoke and vinegar, or maybe something else, destroyed the taste. I tasted a hint of spoil on the ribs and the pork belly was too fatty. The sides were ok but lacking in flavor. Wasted order. 100 down the drain. Wish I had a dog; maybe it would eat this.

This was hands down THE best meal I had in our trip across America. I’d had pulled pork a few times before and wasn’t a huge fan, but after this I’m definitely a convert. The meat was DELICIOUS, and the accompaniments were perfect — the sprout salad being a suprise highlight. I really can’t talk it up enough! The service was OK and we sat outside where there was a great atmosphere. I’ve tried so many times to find somewhere in London that does pulled pork &BBQ beans to rival this, but nothing even comes close!

Had been wanting to try this out for while, but was ultimately really disappointed food-wise. We got the fried okra as an app, with the large pieces of okra being inedible. On the upside: ranch sauce. The entrée, bbq chopped brisket, was basically a bunch of bbq sauce. And by sauce I mean salt and sugar in water. Mac and cheese was watery, but wedge salad was solid. Highlight of the plate was the cucumber and onion. Bar menu was good, service was great. Food just too horrible for the price to overcome. Will not return. Edit: made it 1 star after realizing they charged $ 1.50 for the ranch

As a Southern gal on the constant hunt for passable BBQ in Boston, I made my way over to Sweet Cheeks on a Saturday night. A table for 2 had a 45-minute wait, so I’m obviously not the only Northerner craving some Southern lovin’. Once you give them your number, you get a text with a link where you can see how many parties are in front of you and stoke out the menu, so you can get nice and starvin’ while you wait. About 35 minutes later, the«your table is ready!» text buzzes! Once we’re seated, we peruse the impressive cocktail menu. I ordered the Federale, a habanero tequila and lime drink, and my friend orders a sweeter drink with apple brandy and cider. Served in mason jars, so fun and delicious! Of course we start with 2 biscuits. Day honey buttah like WOAH. These guys are large, warm, and fluffy. So you’ll want to stuff the entire thing in your face, but don’t. Trust me. As for mains, we split a tray with 2 meats which includes 1 hot &1 cold side. The meats we chose were the brisket and pulled pork, which were both very tender but honestly didn’t taste that different from each other. On the table were 3 bottles of different sauces, which weren’t explained to us, so we spent a few minutes smelling and tentatively pouring them on our plates to figure out what they were and which we liked. Those sides guys. Get the farm salad, although I’m sure this is some kind of crazy Northern invention, but this thing is delish with brussels, grapes, and nuts. The other winner was the mac n cheese, which was cheesy and a bit crunchy with breadcrumbs on top. And who doesn’t like when things are served in cute mugs? Remember when I told you to save part of that biscuit? Now’s the time to break it out. Pile that guy high with meat, sauce, and even some mac n cheese to make yourself a Southern slider. You’re welcome, y’all.

A vegetarian going to a BBQ joint? Crazy. I know. But I couldn’t resist trying this place. Unfortunately, my friends and I made the classic mistake of trying to come to Sweet Cheeks without a reservation, on a Friday night. Whoops. The hostess said it would be 35 minutes. Ended up waiting an hour and 15 minutes for a table. The manager felt bad and gave us complementary biscuits, which was a nice gesture. Since there’s really nothing for a vegetarian to eat a BBQ joint, I just ordered a small Mac-n-Cheese.(The other food looked amazing though.) The Mac-n-Cheese was thick and creamy and very rich. A small portion was more than enough for my entire meal. If I ever start eating meat again, I’d like to come back and try Sweet Cheeks for more than just their biscuits and Mac-n-Cheese.

THEMBISCUITSDOE. And that honey butter! If I lived in the Boston area, I would probably come here for the biscuits and honey butter alone. They are the most perfect things I’ve ever held. They’re HUGE, almost twice the size of other biscuits. And they were so warm and fluffy. The honey butter was addicting. I wish it were closer to me! For a party of 4, we got two trays so we could try more things — pork belly, ribs, pulled chicken and brisket. For sides, we got macaroni and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw. They have 3 sauces on the table for you to put on your food(since they come un-sauced): Sweet Cheeks BBQ, Carolina Sweet Chili sauce, and a Serrano Chile green sauce. The meats were juicy and tender, but nothing amazing. The mac & cheese had a vaguely smoky flavor, which I liked. I thought the potato salad was just alright, but everyone else seemed to like it! The food, to me, was alright. Not exactly something I’d come back for, but I’m not sure if that’s just because I had high expectations from those biscuits. But the servers were friendly and the location was spacious, so 4 stars.

Ever since I learned that Tiffany from Top Chef opened up this restaurant, it’s been at the top of my list. Visiting here did not disappoint. Before I get into the reasons why I loved it, I do want to throw one thing out there… The service was awful. While our waitress was knowledgable about the menu and polite to deal with, she was slow, not attentive, and our overall dining experience probably lasted an hour longer than it needed to. I would not suggest Sweet Cheeks if you are in a rush. Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I’m going to rave about it now. The food was really tasty. I’ve obviously heard how they are known for their biscuits and let me tell you, THEYWEREHEAVENLY. It was hands down the biscuit dreams are made of – perfectly flaky, rich and satisfying. Plus, the honey butter it came with was top notch as well. Our table went for a bucket of biscuits which was great as it meant a biscuit for each of us. Awesome! As far as food goes, I honestly wanted one of everything. Price was a little up there but I figured since I was traveling, I needed to go with an option that allowed me to taste as much as possible. A platter it was! I had so much trouble deciding what meat to get I asked our server what she loves and she suggested the pork belly so I went with that. A platter includes a hot and cold side as well so I settled for potato salad and broccoli casserole. All excellent choices. The pork was fatty, rich, moist and perfectly tender. It was fun tasting the different BBQ sauces too. They have three homemade ones they leave on the table for you to use! The potato salad was tasty, but I’ve had better and the broccoli casserole was so wonderful. It was topped with ritz crackers which is obviously a southern classic! Now libations. They have a whole list of specialty craft cocktails. I went for a tequila habenro cocktail. Boy was it spicy. Refreshing but spicy. I can’t decide if it was too spicy or not but I definitely enjoyed the tequila and the heat balanced out by sweet citrus notes. I HIGHLYRECOMMENDYOUEATHERE. ORGETBISCUITSFORTAKEOUTBECAUSEOHMYGOSH. Oh Sweet Cheeks. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I’m going to start by saying I picked this place for my birthday while I was a vegetarian. I was a vegetarian, who chose a BBQ place. No, I didn’t get meat, I literally went just for the sides. Their hush puppies are God’s gift to man and come with an amazing maple sour cream. They give you six per serving which is pretty filling. The mac and cheese is also what you’d expect from a BBQ place — amazing! The real stars are the biscuits. They’re HUGE and the honey butter it comes with is drool-worthy. In the summer they also have this great cheesy grilled corn which I’d definitely suggest taking advantage of while supplies last. This is an amazing find by the fenway area, if you haven’t gone already, make your way over ASAP.

Seriously wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean seriously — one doesn’t automatically connect BBQ w/Boston; well, one should. This woman is not playin’ games . You owe it to your belly to introduce it to #SweetCheeksBoston

I FORGOTTOORDERTHEBISCUIT!!! NOIDEAHOWTHATHAPPENED. So now, I“ll have to go back, one day. Got a 2 meat tray of pulled pork and brisket. Meat was very good. Brisket had a little too much fat in it, but would still order again. There were 3 sauces on the table for your meats. A tomato & molasses, which was my favorite A vinegar based sauce, which was ok. There was a smaller bottle of a habanero corriander that was SPICY! For my 2 sides, I got the mac n cheese, which was pretty good and the farm salad, which was EXCELLENT. I could make a whole meal of that salad. It consisted of arugula, roasted brussel sprouts, grapes, farro and macadamia nuts.

Sweet Cheeks means gluttony. When I go there, I know that no matter how conservatively I order, I’m going to waddle out with my belly turgid, my pants straining, and my mouth happy. First things first: Drinks. I primarily order beer at Sweet Cheeks thanks to their interesting and well-selected draft beer list. There’s always something good on there to try or an old favorite to revisit. I’ve also tried some of the cocktails, which are delicious but very small. The best bang for your buck and wet for your whistle is the craft beer. Now on to food. I used to order the biscuit appetizers, because YES. They come in a serving of four gigantic biscuits. I’ve always eaten at Sweet Cheeks as half of a pair, so the size of the appetizer meant my friend and I heroically attempting to eat two biscuits each plus our meals. Then I learned an amazing secret: You can order ONE biscuit a la carte. So now I am able to exercise moderation AND indulgence in one go. For the actual meal, I’ve only ever had one thing: The brisket tray. I think the brisket is pretty delicious, and haven’t felt the need to stray. For sides, I like the macaroni and cheese and the farm salad(especially because the latter allows me to brag about my «healthy lifestyle with fresh veggies at every meal»). I think they might have dessert here, but by the time I’ve crammed all of the aforementioned goodness into my person I am no longer capable of contemplating it. If you’ve made it to the end of a Sweet Cheeks meal and can even think about dessert, you’re more of a man than I am.
