First off, I reserve the right to change my rating. This rating is based off what Pete’s has been: A bar that was once a nice place, then forgotten once the front entrance was eclipsed by 93 elevated highway. A backdoor leads out into an alley that is behind the Green Dragon and that whole area of bars. During this period, the bar became a great locals’ hangout where you could get a beer with nice people in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in a part of town where most bars are way overcrowded and overpriced. Now that the Big Dig is complete, the ownership has changed and the new owners are remodeling the whole place. I fear that the quiet old Boston pub I loved will be replaced by another meat market. But I remain hopeful that this little pub retains some of its classic charm despite these new developments.
