I am definitely a loyal pavement customer even though I don’t think they’re food/coffee is above average. Their breakfast sandwiches are good not great, and I recommend getting them on toast because their bagels are stiff and hard to bite into. That said, their bagels aren’t bad and are good with cream cheese, just a lot for a breakfast sandwich in my opinion. The granola here is SOGOOD but paying extra for fruit isn’t worth it because they just give you pears(I usually bring my own banana instead). Their lunch menu has a bit more variety and seems to be their specialty. I’m not a big coffee drinker, however I have had their tea and it’s not my favorite, and I have heard from friends that their coffee is not the best either.

Fantastic coffee — in my top 5 in the Boston metro area for SURE if not my favorite — these baristas are no schmucks.

Nice atmosphere ruined by terrible metal music playing. Service was sub par. Latte was kind of bland.

The staff is nice but the wait can be quite long sometimes. I ordered a Chai latte and got a regular latte. I’m pretty bummed I didn’t get what I ordered but I am not going to wait another 10 – 15 minutes for what I really ordered.

Small. Loud. Meh. Decent coffee from the Pavement arsenal but generally so loud, noisy, and mediocre on service you are often better heading to other cafes on Newbury.

I used to be a regular at Pavement but now my visits are few and far in between. Pavement cut down their sandwich menu and got rid of arguably their best sandwich – The Chia. The actual bagels are quality, especially the whole wheat everything. The drip coffee is consistently good but the espresso drinks vary. You’ll get a good latte on one visit and then one that’s mediocre. The atmosphere inside is dungeon-like and acceptable for a short stay. They have a rotation of coffee shop artwork on the walls that would make Portlandia proud.

I’ve been an avid fan of Pavement(mostly the one on Boylston), but my experience here today was just filled with disappointments and frustration. 1. I ordered a SOY latte(and the cashier girl repeated me too. I clearly ordered soy), and I believe it was made with regular milk. How do I know this? Because my stomach is growling and turning as write this review after just a few sips of the latte. Some people(like me) who order soy, order soy for a reason. I am so frustrated. 2. My latte was definitely not a latte either. It was more like a cappuccino. The moment I sipped it, all I could feel was the thick and big-bubbles(not good) of the foam, which is not a latte. 3. Service: The baristas and cashiers were joking around(nothing wrong with that), but yelling words like«bitch» and«shit» while there was a little girl in the café is just. not professional. I was a barista for 2 years, and know work needs some joking around, but please mind the customers. I’m probably going to stick to the Boylston location unless this place steps up.

Apparently, I’m coffee shop hopping tonight! From a botched attempt cappuccino at Wired Puppy, now here I am at Pavement!

Love this little place! They are always crowded which is a great thing. My go to breakfast is the veggie sunrise on a croissant because I like to pack as many calories in as possible… Just kidding forget about the calories and take my suggestion. Bagels are also the best around that area without a doubt.

This girl loves a good, strong coffee fix and is always searching for new coffee shops to visit. Decided to check this place out with the parentals amidst strolling around Newbury Street. Service: Nice hole-in-the-wall coffee shop with a friendly, hip vibe. The baristas are friendly and helpful. There is often a line at Pavement so they need to get orders quickly(aka figure out what you want before you get there). Seating: This is a small establishment but they managed to fit a good amount of two seaters for customers. There is also outdoor seating. Not sure about wifi but definitely a cozy study place. Price: Plain coffee is around $ 2, specialty coffees $ 3 – 4.(Note about coffee – smooth, full– bodied, wake-me-up. The barista know how to whip up a nice cup of joe). Haven’t tried the pastries, but the sandwiches which often get underestimated in coffee shops are incredible. My mom and I shared a chicken salad sandwich on our choice of bread – and wow! Super fresh and flavorful. Best chicken salad I’ve had in a while! Sandwiches around $ 7. Parking: Newbury Street – yeah good luck with parking. Copley and Hynes Convention Center MBTA stations are a few minutes walk. Coffees are my love – will be back!

I try to support all the the local coffee houses when I am traveling before going to Starbucks. I ordered a mocha which tasted okay nothing special. Since I was not satisfied with the coffee I went to another coffee house at The Hall and it was okay too. That’s why I usually stick with Starbucks because they are always consistent with their quality.

Iced Spanish latte was DELICIOUS. very smoothie and not overly sweet. It was just what I needed. This is the best coffee in Boston.

Only been here once. My review is based on one sandwhich– the Lox bagel sandwich. I was really disappointed. They put one sliver of salmon on it from a pre-portioned pack, I barely could taste any salmon. It cost 8 bucks for basically a tomato, onion, cream cheese bagel. Lox sandwiches are expensive because they are usually stacked with salmon. I ended up taking salmon from one half, putting it on the other which made it somewhat like what I would have ordered. Tossed the other half. My bagel was also way over toasted and more like a cracker. All around not great.

Cute coffee shop with good breakfast options Ambience: nice ground level café that is small and seats maybe 10 – 15 at any given time. Service is pretty efficient and the servers are all pretty nice. Perfect location for anyone wanting a solid cup of coffee and a quick breakfast at Hynes. Food/Drink: Their veggie sunrise is great with what appears to be a microwaved egg, sharp cheddar and spinach on your choice of bagel. A little pricey but a good breakfast. The coffees and espresso drinks are well made and delicious. Solid café with quick food options.

There is scant seating here! Just a warning. The internet is also limited to an hour of usage so it’s not particularly convenient for sitting and working. That being said, the coffeehouse is adorably decorated, with tables that have hand-painted tops. The seats are not particularly comfortable but they will serve the purpose of having a nice place for a coffee/bagel. There is plenty of natural lighting to add to the ambiance. I tried a bagel and their yogurt/granola, which was particularly delightful. The yogurt is housemade and it was a creamy mix between Greek and regular, which really hit the spot. The coffee was fresh, hot, and satisfying alongside the rest of the meal. Would recommend stopping by for coffee/food/chats but not for sitting and working!

The Spanish latte just might ruin all other lattes for me! It was perfect and delicious. I also had a breakfast sandwich called the Sunrise. It was also great! I highly recommend Pavement!

The best coffee-shop breakfast sandwiches on this side of town. Soft, biteable, eggy, cheesy. A little fall-apart-y. Substantive and satisfying. Hangover-chasing*. The girl hates their coffee for some reason, but i like it quite a bit. The outside seats shared with the yogurt place are pleasant and good for people-watching, and not too competitive, although there’s not so much room inside. It’s my plan A for breakfast sammiches. *As your doctor, i recommend it, although clinical tests are pending.

Bad, bad, bad service. No one greeted us, the vibe was super crazy with little organization and the person who made my drink was on the phone the entire time and then just left the drink out on the counter(no announcement, no receipt under it, no name on the cup). Bad, bad, bad, bad drinks. I ordered a chai latte and the boyfriend just regular coffee. The chai tasted like steamed milk with cinnamon sprinkled on top. I think he forgot to add the chai, or they make their own concentrate and it just sucks. Either way, boo. And regular coffee? Seriously, the bf threw his coffee away after spending $ 4 on it. No where to sit, high prices. Why return?

I thought the Tequila Sunrise was going to be much spicier… and easier to eat if it was a bit thinner! Maybe that’s just my problem with bagel sandwiches. Great lemonade though, just the right amount of tartness. Service was alright, the set up inside isn’t great so the line gets mixed up if people aren’t regulars and then the staff tries to reorganize people but it doesn’t always work…

Didn’t realize it’s just a block from the convention(Hynes) — instead I was going to the other location(included further walk and since it was muggy… more sweating!) Walked in here this am with a friend(yes I made a friend!) and we were both shocked at the line… it wasn’t as long as the line at Dunkin but it was still long. The staff were friendly and prompt. Since the friend hails from North Carolina — he wasn’t quite used to the line… but we were out of there in time to get to our session. Coffee: YES… well worth waiting in the line for and definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and a coffee connoisseur(anything is but SB right?!) Plus, my sis influenced me to check out the local coffee spots for comparison sake and yes, this coffee place is legit! For you Bay Area folks… think Blue Bottle… but a lot cheaper and they have breakfast bagels!
