I rarely write immediate reviews for anything, but North End Fish Market is one of the best places in Boston. the fish is authentic and fresh every single day. and don’t even get me started on the sushi. the freshness of the fish, the excellent sushi rice, and the flavor is all perfect. easily the best sushi I’ve had in Boston, I get it weekly.

We saw the Unilocal and knew we should get a lobster roll here on the way to the airport. North end fish market did not disappoint. Don’t go anywhere else, they’re generous with the lobster and the roll is perfectly toasty and buttery.

So glad I stumbled upon this place while in the North End. Looking for another delicious lobster roll before leaving Boston, I was caught by the sign in the window — $ 18.50 for a cup of chowder and a lobster roll. It’s kind of a deal too good to be true, but I am glad I resisted my gut instinct and walked in. The space is small, but inviting. The fresh seafood in the seafood case really make the«freshness» hit home. As a sushi fan, I was excited to see the sushi set up as well and couldn’t pass up the chance to order sushi too. Such a weird combo, but all the food I ordered here was fantastic. Might I say this is quite possibly the best lobster roll I’ve ever tried. Such plump lobster and super tasty. Good job North End Fish Market! You’ll be the first stop on my next visit to bean town.

I wanted an authentic lobster roll and my search led me to this place. At first I was disappointed when I saw the roll because for $ 14 I was expecting something bigger. However I must say they definitely stuff at least $ 14 worth of great lobster meat in that tiny texas toast. It was simply made, but the tasted very good. The only thing I would change is a little less butter on the bread. I also got the chowder and the pepper tuna roll which were both very good too.

Bottom line at the top: probably the best lobster roll I had in Boston. – Few doors down from Neptune, this is a tiny spot that is a must visit. Cold lobster roll and sushi seems like an odd combo but it was awesome. Shared the pats roll and another roll and both were amazing!

Total dive and total gem! North End Fish Market is exactly that — a tiny, nearly hidden market in the middle of an authentic Boston neighborhood. There’s no place to sit down within the market, so you should plan to take your food to go. I got a lobster roll — because how could I leave Boston for the first time without trying one — and the guy behind the counter convinced me to get a tuna avocado sushi roll(at first thought it was kind of random that they also sold sushi, but I guess it makes sense with the fish and all). Both of them were so incredibly fresh and I could not be happier that I stopped here. The lobster roll was amazing, and even though it was pricey at $ 15 for a small roll, I’d pay it again. The sushi was mind-blowingly reasonably priced. I got huge chunks of super fresh tuna for only $ 5.95! I wish I could have tried the mussels or clam chowder, or even taken some of the actual fish to cook at home! If you’re in Boston — either for the first time or as a native — check out North End Fish Market for sure! It was an amazing taste of Boston seafood that I’m going to be craving for awhile.

Came here to pick up some lunch on our last day in Boston — little spot on Salem that is unassuming, but hides a delicious plethora of seafood. Based on other reviews, we knew we wanted to check out some of their sushi, their lobster rolls(because lobster, duh), and maybe grab a cup of clam chowder. And we did just that, six pieces of nigiri, two lobster rolls(they only offer the traditional cold mayo style), a spicy tuna roll(six pieces), and two cups of clam chowder(we actually only ordered 1 but got 2 for some reason in the bag). I think the total damage was around $ 60 which is not bad at all in my book. The clam chowder was tasty, not super thick, but flavorful. My only suggestion would be for them to warm it up a bit more, it was a bit more than lukewarm, so I think if it was really piping hot, it would have been that much better. The lobster rolls were delicious, minimal mayo and big hunks of lobster throughout. The nigiri was super fresh and huge — we got tuna, salmon, and unagi. All really delicious. The spicy tuna roll was solid — nothing too crazy but fresh and tasty. All in all I loved my meal — we got it togo(they don’t have seating in the restaurant) and ate it in the park nearby. So good. Will come here every time I come to Boston in the future.

On this trip to Boston, I made it a goal to hunt down my first lobster roll! Thanks to the help of other Unilocalers, I found my way to North End Fish Market and emerged with a soft, buttery roll bursting with tender and sweet lobster meat. 10⁄10 would roll again.

Delicious! We ordered a lobster roll, sushi, and oyster, all for 20 each! So fresh! The service is great, they didn’t think they gave us enough lobster in a lobster roll so they gave us a free side of lobster and an extra free oyster. Will definitely be coming back! There isn’t an eating area but you can still eat in the store

You can easily miss this place but make sure you stop by. Your Boston experience will not be complete without trying their lobster roll. The market itself is very small – with barely enough room to walk. The setup was a little confusing as it seemed like there would be two places to make your order – one at the side of the shop and one towards the back. You want to go to the latter to order your roll. The roll itself is perfect for splitting if you want a snack. They were extremely generous with the lobster meat and I would definitely be back when I’m in town again. The only con is that there were no tables to sit and dine. We just ended up stopping by Boston Common Coffee next door to grab a drink so we could find some sitting space.

My first stop in Boston on my most recent business trip was for a Lobster Roll and, thus, my last stop had to be a Lobster Roll as well. This was near where I was walking around(really cool location around a ton of stores and places of historical note) and seemed like a great little hole-in-the-wall seafood spot. Which it was! The place was incredibly small, no spot to eat, but no prob — there’s plenty of seats outside at the café next door. Of course, I ordered the Lobster Roll which was so delicious, fresh tasting, bursting with lobster meat that it deserved to be referred to only as a LOBSTAHROHLL. Seriously that good, I was stuffed after eating this thing… you’ve seen that viral YouTube video of the MA fellow talking about a ‘sea monstah’?? Man, I felt like I ATE a sea monstah after this thing. If you’re looking for an authentic and amazing Boston Lobstah Roll, come here… now.

A decent yet affordable place for sushi! I feel like people get sushi here more than they do fresh fish to cook at home. You walk in, choose what you want, and then the chef will make it right away. Pay at the counter in the front. I ordered a spicy tuna and a yellowtail scallion roll. Both rolls had fresh and delicious fish, but the yellowtail scallion just turned out to be yellowtail… not sure if they were out of scallion but the chef didn’t tell me and I didn’t find out until I got home and opened the bag. I have yet to try the lobster roll but I have heard it’s tasty!

Sushi rolls are delicious and fresh here… but I got salmon sashimi and I think I just got a bad batch because it was not as good as the pictures I saw. It wasn’t as buttery/melt in your mouth like I have had elsewhere. Again… the rolls were good though so stick to that when you come here!

Good food. Fair price. Nice people. We ordered a mix of sushi rolls, sashimi, and lobster roll in Eat 24. Would I go back again? Yeah! In a heart beat!

This is a small fish market that also sells sushi, which is made fresh. You can select what kind of sushi you want on an order sheet and the sushi chef will make it right in front of you. Or you can choose one of the selections that are already made and presented on top of ice. I ordered a rainbow roll and also got the lobster roll from the fish market part. The lobster roll was pretty good. Came in a standard sized hot dog bun, wish it was bigger as I wasn’t really full from it. The sushi was very fresh and good quality, although the price was a tad pricier than other places. Not sure I would return but it seems like one of the only places that sells sushi in the North End, so that sets them apart.

This place takes the throne from Genki in Boston for sushi for me! I have now been twice and decided to give this place five stars for what I go there for: sushi meat quality. This place is a must for anyone who cares more about the quality of fish than creativity of rolls. I love Genki and how varied their rolls are. Here you’ll only find a couple of select special rolls, only one of which I have tried. This was the Snowy Mountain and it was delicious! I could probably count on two hands their collection of specials. I will be sure to update my review as I try more. Where this place shines though is its nigiri and sashimi. The fish is too fresh — just look at how red the tuna is in my photo. Its proximity to the North End makes the price reasonable compared to having to get delivery from Genki. Presentation is always beautiful no matter what you order and it tastes like it was just pulled out of the harbor(fish taste might be overwhelming for a few). It is delicious!

This is definitely a happy find. At first glance, I was skeptical. Sushi? Fish market? Asking me to take a refrigerated cup of clam chowder and asking if I want it heated, and then nuking it in the microwave? I almost feared I’d get some rendition of a canned soup but I was oh-so-pleasantly surprised. Lobster roll and clam chowder for under $ 20? Huge epicurean gamble. I paid for my food and took my lobster roll and clam chowder to the nearby park for some al fresco dining. The slice of bread held up the ample hunks of lobster so delicately dressed that the lobsteriness shone through and the bread wouldn’t fall apart from being overly moist. Oh, and the clam chowder? Heaps of clams, not too creamy or too potatoey, or salty. Perfectly balanced and the light fresh seafood taste was preserved. I came, I saw, I won.

Amazing lobster roll at only $ 15! The lobster is super fresh and heaping in the lightly buttered roll. No seating, so it’s more of a grab and go place but the staff was super nice. My sister told me their sushi is also great!

If I hadn’t been to Pauli’s right before this, I would have swooned at North End Fish Market’s lobster roll. While it was still amply impressive, I have to say it fell second in my opinion. «Fish Market» sums it up pretty well, as this isn’t a stop-and-dawdle kind of place. There are no tables or seating; grab your seafood and go! There are counters and ice mounds inside, with a big tub of lobster salad premixed sitting in one of the display cases. Service was fine, and it was a quiet afternoon in this shop. Lobster roll: ( ) ( ) As you can see from the photos, the lobster rolls were incredibly loaded with lobster and mayo, and there were even a few(pickled?) celery pieces strewn in between. I actually wasn’t a fan of the celery, but I appreciated the thought process of spicing up the textural dimensions. There was a little bit too much mayo for me, and I would have loved chunkier pieces of lobster. Regardless, the lobster was fresh and succulent, and even the slightly cold bread couldn’t dampen the fresh seafood flavor. It’s possible I came on an off day, as I was flipping through the other pictures of lobster rolls, and many of them seemed chunkier and less dressed than the one I remember having. I’d be interested in dropping again by for a quick lobster roll to-go if I’m ever in the area, but we’ll see!

When you’re in Boston everyone tells you to try lobster rolls. It seems like every restaurant serves them and everyone is torn as to which ones are the best. I’m sure there are many good ones and a variety between cold(with mayo) or hot(with butter) but this was by far the best lobster roll i’ve ever had(not comparing it to much since I’ve had one in NY and one in LA). TRANSPORTATION: This is located in North End so it’s a bit of a walk from most T stations but it’s close to Mike’s Pastry. ATMOSPHERE: Almost none, it’s a market so people go to buy fresh fish etc. so there is no where to sit. You order and then have to go outside. If you walk further out there is seating at Paul Revere Mall, where a lot of people eat Mike’s Pastry too. FOOD: The lobster roll is $ 14.99 and pretty big. They give you a good healthy portion of cold lobster on top of the roll. The lobster is prepared with mayo and some celery and was a LITTLE on the chewy side but overall very fresh and very tasty. The bread is what sold me, the bun is slightly grilled on the edges and tasted almost like a grilled cheese with crispy outside and slight buttery taste. It was amazing. Put the two together and you’ll get an amazing lobster roll that isn’t super expensive. Make sure you pay attention to their hours because they aren’t open all day or very late. Best recommendation is to come at lunch time. On a Saturday afternoon around 12pm there was no line.
