This was a perfect classic bahn mi sandwich. The bread was crusty, the daikon was crisp and it’s really fresh. Totally worth the trip.

They have been in operation for as long as I can remember. When I was a small child, I recalled my parents grabbing twice as what we could consume. They are that delicious! Awhile back when I worked at Tufts, I would make my regular lunch run here, even trooped down through the snow storm. The Banh Mi is very satisfying. I could buy this and leave it on my countertop for several hours, heck even half the day and it would still be crispy and fresh. I remembered a time when these sandwiches cost $ 2. I must be old! But $ 4, ain’t to shabby either. There is a tofu vegetarian option. You can ask them to not include certain items. There is also freshly made prepared foods. You can also get fried rice and lo mein. They do serve fruit shakes, but I prefer DK for that. I also had the opportunity to speak to the woman who runs the shop currently. She took over the business about 10 years ago. Even with different management they are still consistent. The negatives has certainly remained the same. Cash only and no designated parking lot.

The best $ 4 banh mi sandwich shop in Chinatown!!! Barely compares to the shops that can be found in Dorchester but this is the best that you can get. Personally my favorite place for banh mi bbq pork or banh mi cold cut. Can’t get any better or easier than this. They even have packed food containers that are already filled with like stir fried noodles, fried rice, banh uot/cuon, other rice dishes, and etc that aren’t too pricey and they pack the containers full! The mom looking ladies working here, are always really nice and adorable sometimes because they crack jokes in English and in Vietnamese.

My go-to whenever I crave a banh mi(Vietnamese style sub)! This is a small mom & pop store. You will see the owners and family working there all the time — you can tell how hard working they are. They are super friendly and I love their banh mi(my favorite is the cold cut!). They have expanded their menu to include smoothies a few years ago. They also have spring rolls and rice dishes — perfect for lunch to go. Prices for the Viet subs have gone up over the years, but you can see that all over Chinatown. It’s still a cheap, fast and filling, yummy meal.

If you’re in the mood for a tasty morsel in Chinatown, but you’re hard-pressed for time, do yourself a favor and head to New Saigon Sandwich. They have Vietnamese sandwiches and so much more, much of it packed and ready to go. Everything I’ve tried has been dirt-cheap and delicious, and the service is friendly if a bit curt. Again, if you’re in a hurry, you’ll be in and out in a jiffy.

I expected so much more because of these reviews. bought my parents cold cut sandwiches and they said they weren’t impressed. I was surprised so the next day, I felt I needed to try it myself. … I tried the bbq beef and wasn’t impressed either. There was a lot more bread than there was the fillings. the meat was underwhelming but I tasted the freshness of the pickled carrots and radishes. I’ve definitely had better. However, I’m a sucker for vietnamese pre-prepared meals so I’m going to try to make it in earlier someday to see their selection. Both days, I was only able to stop by right before closing so there were mostly spring rolls/summer rolls left.

Fast, quick Banh Mi. French bread crispy, cold cuts and cucumber fresh. Also had the goi rolls. The shabby, exterior and cracking sign outside looks more appropriate for a post-apocalyptic movie but the food inside exudes that crisp, fresh Vietnamese sense of being made by someone who cares about every step of the food making process. Quick tip: Remember that spicy on your sandwich means raw slivers of jalapeños, not spicy sauce or mustard.

Hands down the best banh mi joint in Boston! The baguette is super crunchy and fresh. Love the cold cut and beef teriyaki. Fast, cheap, and delicious! If you can’t eat spicy, make sure you let the worker know to not add the jalapenos!

Standard no frills Vietnamese sub shoppe, so if you’re expecting something Instagram worthy or a place to sit don’t come here! However if you want a good bahn mi and fresh spring rolls then definitely stop by! The obvious pros of coming here are that the prices very reasonable and the service is very quick! The bahn mi’s are made in less than a minute and the bread they use is always very fresh.

I’m reallllly confused about all the positive reviews of this place. I had the tofu banh mi and there was really nothing good about it at all; the bread was super dry and tasted old, the tofu was funky, and there were hardly any veggies. I’ve had much much better, including a block away at a hole in the wall bakery that also makes sandwiches. Maybe it was an off day here, but I’m probably not going back to find out.

This is def one of my face cheap eats places in Boston! In addition to being super affordable ans fast, they’re actually also wicked delicious!& They staff are all super friendly and helpful even though I’m not Vietnamese. I love that they have tons of yummy Vietnamese desserts and drinks on their menu. i always try to get different things. The coconut red bean with sticky rice is so freaking good!!! their cold cut subs are the best!!! Better than potentially any other place’s. Whenever my friends are visiting from NYC, they always come here to stock up on banh mi’s and get their fix – that says a lot since they live in one of the biggest foodie cities ever! Their spring rolls and vermicelli boxes are also amazing. Tons of great vegan options! Pass on chipotle for your next lunch and give your money to this well deserved local hole in the wall!

4 dollars, cash only. Get your bubble tea elsewhere unless you are in a rush. The bread is always nice and crispy. By no means is this the best place to get a Bánh mì in Boston, but it’s quick, messy, and cheap. :)

I ordered a shredded pork bahn mi sandwich mango bubble tea and iced coffee. The sandwich had hardly any pork, sauce or filling. I know small places have to control their food costs but this is ridiculous. If you are going to call yourself a sandwich shop you should do the sandwiches well. The coffee was burnt and condensed milk was cloyingly sweet. The coffee beans was over roasted and burnt resulti

I know small places have to control their food costs but this is ridiculous. If you are going to call yourself a sandwich shop you should do the sandwiches well. The coffee was burnt and condensed milk was cloyingly sweet. The coffee beans was over roasted and burnt resulting in a bitter drink that had no flavor. The mango tea did not taste much like mango. They had bubbles that were hard to chew in the middle. Maybe it was just an off day.

Rating: 5 stars I love banh mi and when unheard they had vegetarian versions, complete with tofu or fake meat, I had to try it. While my boyfriend sat alone in Asanna, I walked the 2 blocks over to order 2 sandwiches to go. My plan was to give him one to also try when we got back to our hotel. I ate both by myself… I would highly recommend!

Banh mi on the go. Crunchy white french bread. Creamy mayo, jalapeño peppers, pickled vegetables, cilantro. Tangy fish sauce. Get the cold cut for an ounce of nostalgia. The teriyaki chicken is slightly sweet. Chinatown. Cash only. $ 4 banh mi(Vietnamese sub).

Came here instead over Banh Mi House because New Saigon was actually open on a Sunday 8:30 am-6:30 pm!(same hrs Mon-Sun) Located in Chinatown and a 20 minute walk from Faneuil Hall. Very teensy tiny place run by Cantonese speakers and the ability to understand what they were saying made me feel comfortable in a way despite the claustrophobic, no dine-in space. You can tell it is a «quick grab and go», «full of regulars», «Chinatown fast-food??» joint because I was the only petite lady standing there blindly staring at the menu and hogging up a valuable 1×1 sqft while the woman behind the counter immediately asks me if I was ready to order. Luckily it was only me and 4 other customers and the menu wasn’t too expansive. I can’t imagine busier days when you are wedged between many customers, trying to figure out what to order and the workers are trying to take your order and get all customers taken care of and out the door asap! Many good banh mi selections that spoke to me – curry chicken, teriyaki beef, shredded pork. But I absolutely had to try the Vietnamese cold cut before anything else. The most classic base of Vietnamese banh mi’s, my judgement of this one only will pretty much display New Saigon in comparison to rival banh mi places. If it is no good, how can I be sure to trust their teriyaki banh mi or their pork meatball one? My final judgement? It tasted AMAZING. The freshest ingredients I have ever had in a banh mi. From their cilantro, cucumber, to their daikon & carrots, liver pâté, mayo, cold cuts and Viet ham… ugh! and the toasted bread(not unbearably thick, not over-toasted, super soft inside crispy outside, and I didn’t have to strain open my mouth to grab a bite… however that it where my complaint comes in. It was the thinnest banh mi I’ve ever had. They go skimpy on the toppings! I had more cilantro/cucumber than anything. Two small slices of Viet ham and few small slices of cold cut but somehow the meshing of fresh fabulous flavors made up for the quantity! You got me there New Saigon! I would come back again to try their boxed meals –$ 4 – 5. From the looks of it the amount they give looks reasonable!

I had such high hopes for New Saigon. Despite being an empty morning, and my ordering what is probably the most popular item on the menu, the #1, what I got in return was just sloppy. What little meat there was was sloppily thrown in. The cucumber was the size of a pickle spear. Everything about it was fine, but could use some finesse. On the other hand, the vietnamese coffee did hit the spot.($ 3) I might try a different banh mi spot next time

The teriyaki beef banh mi is perfect! The bread is perfect. The meat is perfect. The veggies are perfect. The man who took my order asked if I wanted it spicy. I said yes. The spice is really light but it’s the kind that sneaks up on you, but not overwhelmingly. It tingles my mouth. Perfect. & only for $ 4. Perfect. I’m likely to try the other banh mi sandwiches after my wonderful experience with the teriyaki one. They have curry chicken, cold cut, veggie, etc. The prepackaged meals on the counter look tasty. They were still actually warm when I picked them up. The spring rolls look good, too. I’ll be back for those. There are shrimp spring rolls, shredded pork spring rolls, and tofu spring rolls. All are $ 4.50. This place is truly amazing. Truly a hole in the wall as it is located between two busier restaurants(Dumpling Café, which is delicious) and Phở Pasteur(which I haven’t tried but hear has decent phở). Come here if you want something cheap, quick, and great in quality.

Banh Mi is probably one of my favorite sandwiches of all time, simply because you get some complex flavors of spicy from jalapeño, tartness from pickled veggies, sweetness from butter, and of course savory from the various meats. A nice soft, flaky french roll brings everything together. I literally braved through rain during lunch time looking for good banh mi! This restaurant is take-out only, and appears to be run with a very nice couple. They have numerous pre-packaged snacks(spring rolls, egg rolls) and rice plates, along with boba style drinks. I went directly for the VN Cold Cut Banh Mi for $ 4. In under 2 minutes the sandwich was assembled — order completed. I walked back to the Food Court off Stuart Street to chow down. Sandwich was excellent — I liked how the bread was hollowed out so I didn’t have to feeling of too much carbs. Sandwich was balanced in that I really do taste the freshness of the veggies and the meats were tasty. The bread: meat:veggie ratio seemed perfect and I do like that slice spicy kick that lingers a bit after each bite. In hindsight I should have ordered an extra one for a midnight snack!

Pros: + Yummy food + Low prices + Super fast service Cons: — Nowhere to sit — Cash only This place is my go-to for meals. The sandwiches and box meals are delicious, they’re super cheap, and the sandwiches are prepared quickly(and the box meals are already prepared). So far I’ve tried the cold cut sandwich, the fried rice box meal, and the pork with noodles box meal. The cold cut sandwich is very delicious, has pâté, and you can specify whether you want spicy(aka with jalapeños) or not. The fried rice and pork w/noodles are tasty and remind me of fast home-cooked meals. The fried rice has Chinese sausage! Also, their bubble tea is very good. The prices are pretty low. It’s basically $ 4 or $ 4.50 for a meal, depending on what you get. It’s cash only, but I come here when I want speed, so paying cash is fine. The nice round numbers for prices are final, so I don’t have to wait for them to give me change. TL;DR: I can count on getting a tasty meal for $ 4.50 within 2 minutes of stepping in.
