The staff here got mad attitude, which is what I expect from Chinatown. But it doesn’t even matter because the doctors here are awesome. They are very knowledgeable and have decades of experience. I had skin issues and went to a western dermatologist at first, who prescribed me all these expensive chemical drugs that made my skin even worse! I then came here twice, and drank the brew that the Chinese doctors prescribed me and my skin cleared up right away. This also cost me a lot less than the dermatologist.

A bona fide Chinese apothecary/pharmacy. I stopped in earlier this week to fill a TCM prescription for chronic pain due to an inflammatory condition. There were two women on duty, one of whom read the scrip and gave me an estimate of $ 5 per dose(my doctor had ordered four doses). Each dose weighs several ounces and is made up of more than a dozen different kinds of herbs, which you prepare at home on your own. They filled the scrip while I went out for lunch. Before coming here, I’d checked out some online sources that would have charged me $ 20 – 30 per dose(before postage and handling)!

This is a chinese herb and medicine shop nestled on a side street in Chinatown. They sell herbal and medicinal teas, lotions, potions, rubs, and other unimaginables. You can buy anything from a $ 5 bag of tea or a $ 500 root of ancient, rare ginger. No joke! It’s tiny and cramped, literally one aisle, wide enough for one person, from the front door to the back of the shop. A glass checkout counter runs the length down and showcases the more rare, expensive items, Check it out, you might find something you don’t need. Three stars because it’s so small, the prices are ambiguous, the workers don’t speak the best of English(and why should they) and because I don’t quite know at this point what a 5 star chinese herbal shop encompasses…
