When I worked down the street from it, I came here for lunch whenever I can. I love that I can sit outside with a friend and enjoy our lunch. The selection was great and I love how great the service is. Our waitress was very attentive and came to check on us rather often. The food arrived rather fast and we had plenty of time afterwards during our lunch hour.

Closed over a year ago. Damn shame because it was yummy. The restaurant that took its place is called Red Sky. You can visit the other Naked Fish locations in Framingham, Waltham, and Saugus.

I think this place is decent — the fish is fresh, but there’s obviously no skilled chef in the kitchen. So stick with basic preparations. I would certainly not compare it with Legal where they do so many more things with the fish and have a much broader menu. The Cuban cocktail routine is a rip-off, pretty much like any Chinese PuPu place«exotic» drinks. Lot of fruit juice and not much booze for the price. Order a glass of wine. A big plus for the place is the interesting selection of side dishes(things like plantains, beans & rice, etc) — you get two with each order. Sometimes my semi-vegan wife will order 4 sides as an entrée and get a real interesting vegetable platter for $ 10.

Naked Fish is a Bugaboo Creek for grown-ups. The décor is theme-based and kitchy. The food is dull and overpriced, but at least the décor doesn’t sing«Take me to the river.» Skip this place and Legal Seafood. Go to a good local fish joint that isn’t geared towards tourists and the Applebees crowd.

I’m not one for handing out 5 star reviews, but the Naked Fish really hasn’t done anything wrong in the several times I’ve been there. They combine simple, yet rich and interesting recipes with ingredients that are exotic to many of us here in New England, and find a way to make us cynical, high-expectation Massholes really quiet down and just go eat there. One thing — the cocktails — they are unbelievable. I’ve gone to the Fish just for the drinks on occasion. I’ve been drinking Mojitos since before they were popular, and these guys absolutely know how to serve them. The stick of sugar cane is the best.(and they won’t look at you funny if you chew it) Food — What can you say. From the tilapia, to the seared Mahi, the shrimp(cocktail or coconut) or the non-fish, the chefs in Naked Fish’s restaurants are all top-notch and very well-vetted. Most recently I got the«Cha Cha» — both because I was in the mood for something more than just fish, and because I wanted to see how they would do non-fish. You know how some specialty restaurants excel in their chosen category, but fall flat when they try to branch out? Well, none of that here. The Cha Cha consists of a couple of steak tips, a blackened chicken breast, and a filet of tilapia. The tilapia was the best on the plate, of course — full of flavor, you could really taste the grilling and the shreds of fried coconut just added to its glory. But the steak was PERFECT, and the chicken was flavorful and juicy. Not only did they cook everything right, they timed each one so that none of them would be cold or dry. These guys simply rock. Décor — Simple elegance. Nothing on the walls shout at you, nowhere does the lighting overpower. The earth-tone booths and carpet soothe the eye and don’t distract from the colorful presentation of food and drinks. In the bar, the oversized canvas art deco prints set this room off from the rest of the dining room, and the lower lighting in here, mixed with the accent lighting and the darker paintjob makes the bar feel more like a club… without the oonts oonts oonts music, I feel I should add. If you know what oonts is, you know it doesn’t belong here. If you don’t, just count yourself lucky. The mid 90s were dark times for some of us. Service — absolutely top shelf. i’ve never had a bad waitperson in my visits to the various branches. Courteous, quick, and remembers everything you order. Most recently we ate in the bar, and the bartender was responsive and friendly, despite having a bar-load of customers. Crowd — swanky. Folks who know good fish, folks who are well-dressed, looking for an evening on the town, etc. Follow Sinatra’s advice, go for dinner at 8 — fewer families with children, and less of a wait. All in all though, if you’re interested in a cool«scene» — this place never disappoints. Bottom line — if you want a great meal, a great place to take a date, a great place to have a few drinks before or after a show, or really anything you’d go to a restaurant for, the Naked Fish is a sure-fire hit.

Naked Fish is actually a small chain of restaurants. There is one in Waltham, over by the hotels, one in Saugus, off Rt. 1, and one in Boston, in Faneuil Hall. There may be one or two more I don’t know about. I’ve been to the one in Saugus once, and the one by my house in Faneuil Hall a few times(including last Friday). This is a really yummy place. Let me preface this by saying I don’t like fish. I know it’s weird, but fish tastes too fishy for me. Once in a while I can eat it. Codfish cakes, this fish cordon bleu recipie my mother has, shrimp done in Chinese or Japanese way… but otherwise, ick. I do love sushi though. I don’t know why, but if a fish is raw it tastes less fishy. So, what I get at Natked fish(which, in case you haven’t gathered already, is a fish restaurant) is plantain encrusted seared tuna, rare. This is so good. Just the thinnest part of the outside is cooked, and the inside is raw, like sushi. And they put a fruit salsa on, mmm. With each cuban inspired entrée, you get to choose 2 sides. The garlic mashed potatoes and the broccolini are my favorite, but the plantains and rice are also good. Last week when we went, my friend got the same as me, except for asparagus. I don’t like asparagus but she did and it was good. When the bread comes, you’ll see it’s white or brown. Don’t expect the brown to taste like Cheesecake factory bread, which is what people I’m with(including myself) always bite into it expecting. It’s a sweet bread with raisins. I prefer the white plain bread. I also reccomend the Latin Love frozen drink. This is supposed to be alcholic, but it really isn’t. Just drink it as a smoothie. It’s got raspberries and a bit of coconut and some other stuff but is very good. Even on a Friday night, this isn’t crowded. And it’s very empty at lunch or early dinner time. I’m only speaking for the Boston location, of course. But I do reccomend it. Entrees are about $ 15ish dollars, so it’s a good value.

I’ve eaten at the Waltham one and the plantain encrusted tilapia was soooo good. They have an extensive drink menu. This is where I got introduced to the Chambord cosmo, now my favorite drink.

Irritating staff and a moderately overpriced menu detract from what’s actually decent, if unimaginative food. Enjoy the color-shifting sign out front, as well as the fun and funky décor within– the place is definitely trendy. Recommended: the Malibu sunset(sunrise?) drink. Personal amusement factor: I found a small pearl in my fried seafood appetizer.

The kind of hip new small seafood chain. This is not your father’s Legal Seafood is seems to proclaim(though I prefer Legal’s). This place has more adventurous dishes and are not afraid to get away from the typical boston fair of Lobster and chowder. It’s definatly worth a visit, though if I’m going to spend the cash now that I’ve been there, 85% of the time, I’d go to Legals.

I was thrilled when this place came to Boston. I had one of my first dates with my husband here and the place always makes me smile. The cuban pressed sandwich is tasty and I typing this makes me want one right now. Order the appetizer sampler which comes with yummy dipping sauces. I think I may have to go there tomorrow for lunch– it’s been a while.

Great food. Good atmosphere. Go here for the good seafood that has a Latin flair to it. There’s no boring old chowder here. Their cocktails are also great. I loved the frozen ones we had.

I enjoyed this place with a few slight exceptions. This location was small, almost cramped. Our waitress seemed to hurry about from one place to another, barely passing by us. It was hard to get a hold of her, and at the end of our dinner, we had to wait an extra 15 – 20 min for her to give us the check. Otherwise, the food was great and the atmosphere nice. Next time I’ll set aside more time to enjoy the place more.

If you feel like something a little more upscale then a cup’o’chowder to go at Faneuil Hall(not that there’s anything wrong with that…), check out Naked Fish. It’s fun, not too pricey, and has enough options to satisfy picky siblings or blind dates. Portions are healthy but filling, and you’re in a prime location for a post-dinner stroll to walk off a full belly and buzz from the tasty cocktails available.
