Diane has been doing my hair for years and she’s the best! She gets the color spot on, uses great products, and I always get complimented on it. It’s also just fun to have my hair done there because of the cool atmosphere of the salon and chatting and getting her advice on how to take care of my hair and style it.

i had a very blah experience at moxie star. i was dying for it to be great — it’s right in my back yard and i very much wanted a hairdresser to call my own. but i didn’t find one. i wanted a more modern look but i got a pretty boring cut. for $ 65 i can get better. i also brought my mom in once when she was visiting — i didn’t see her enjoying the newbury street experience, she’s too down to earth. she got a color and a cut and the color was completely washed out in three weeks.

I’d give this place NEGATIVE5 stars if I could. Let me just say that I went to get my hair colored peroxide, I know it’s not an easy thing to do, but the owner Diane did this, and within 2 months, most of my hair was so damaged it fell out. I am very serious. It has taken 2 years for it to grow out, and all she said at the time was, «Sorry, I will give you a discount». It’s not my style to bring anyone to court, so I didn’t bother. But she doesnt know what the hell she is doing, the haircuts are so-so, certainly not fashionable, and I cant wait to hear when this place closes down. And I usually try to find the best and be quite diplomatic in any situation. 2 years later, my hair looks healthy and fabulous thanks to Charles Maksou at Maksou Hair Salon. update 12/11/2007 — I am laughing hysterically that someone after my review clearly posted several ‘bogus’ reviews to counter mine — check their friends connections. Hey I dont care, in the grand scheme of things, it’s all good. I stand 100% by my story, the owner of this salon utterly ruined my entire head of hair. She DOESNOTKNOW what she is doing. Perhaps this Kristine mentioned is alright, but stay away from Diane. Unless you want all your hair to fall out. And just let me add, I grew up with parents who owned a hair salon, so I happen to know quite a bit about coloring methods, processes. and knew what to ask for. I am not here to start trouble, just to inform salon seekers of a dangerous colorist. You would too, if all your hair fell out, believe me.
