A vegetarian friend chose this restaurant for our girls’ night during the Holiday Season. She works nearby so I agreed to take the T over. It’s at the back of the Longwood Galleria. A very large room. I think they must be busy at times with people visiting the medical area hospitals, as well as the apartments upstairs. The room is very large, with a bar and a separate function room, via my visit to the restrooms. Seems like a bunch of consultants came in and did over different themes. The furniture out front is floral and overstuffed sort of like a hotel lobby, but the bar chairs are blonde wood more like Danish modern and I noticed mirrors(odd because room is so big) with bright colored wavy trim — so together it’s not so much fused eclectic but mismatched. This was on an odd Monday night, when many sit-down restaurants aren’t open, but to note, they weren’t busy. Our server was nice, admitted she was new and was friendly about making a substitution for my friend, who as a vegetarian, didn’t have that many choices; but she picked the place for convenience. The menu was comfort food/bar food but again, it seemed like consultants came in and said«add a little heat» hence the pepper pesto on the Caprese sandwich. The sat us right across from the kitchen, literally across from the steamy swinging doors, which I could not understand, because they were not crowded, but I’m thinking they wanted diners in one section of the room to make it easier on the servers. My friend did ask for a booth, but the hostess told us none were clean, and the hostess did not offer us alternatives and since I don’t like to make a thing; I had the kitchen door view all night. The room was also very cold even though we were in the pre-Christmas 2015 record warm weather. The food was okay, and honestly I was tired, did not make the best choice, the sweet potato fries were great though and a very generous portion. I wouldn’t object if we had to come here again because of my friend’s schedule — I would give it another try, but it’s fine if she wants to skip it and opt for somewhere else next time.

The Longwood Grille is fine for what it is. The service is excellent. My server Robin made my most recent visit there very pleasant and I felt perfectly taken care of as she checked in with me at a few intervals during my lunch to make sure I had everything I needed. I couldn’t ask for anything more. The place itself has a similar feel to say, Applebee’s or the 99. It isn’t formal which is what I prefer more often than not. I got the chicken tenders with buffalo sauce on the side and a house salad and they were fresh and they hit the spot. If I have a reason to be in the Longwood area I’ll go to the Longwood Grille. The booths are comfy and the staff is professional and nice all the way from the host to the runner/busser. I like that it isn’t brightly lit. It’s always clean. Overall I like this place and it’s a great alternative to the food court.

Horrible! Order a Ruben and kids pizza. The sandwich came out first followed by the kids pizza 20MINUTES later. The sandwich meat was cold and the bread soggy the pickle was slimy and tasted nothing like a pickle the fries were unseasoned, soggy and cold. When the kids pizza finally came out it was oily and undercooked. McDonald’s would’ve been a better meal.

The restaurant is nice. A little pricey but expected for where it is. I had a turkey club on gluten free bread. I would have expected better turkey. This sandwich meat was fair. The bacon was good. The salad I had was good but they gave me Ceasar dressing and it was too fishy. Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake… Too dense, served cold, and the whipped cream was lackluster. All and all this was a decent meal that was in a good atmosphere after a long drive. I’d go back.

Pros: super chowdah, good Caesar salad, well-stocked bar with good beer and wine selections. House-made foccacia that might wind up on the controlled substances list. Cons: lit like a freakin’ cafeteria. I’m not sure who uses this as their local — I’m guessing that it’s mostly guests at the Inn at Longwood Medical, and possibly some of the medical pros from the hospitals and research labs that ring the place. Enjoyed both evenings I spent in here, one eating and the other bending an elbow with Boston friends. Can’t say I’d make a special trip to the place, but if you’re staying at the Inn, this is a totally serviceable choice for a quick meal or a meetup.

Food was good and fairly priced. Perfect place for dinner and a beer if your staying at the Inn.

Overpriced. The food wasn’t that good. Steak tips came out medium well instead of medium like we asked. They had to remake the potato skins because they put the horseradish sauce on when we said we didn’t want it. So instead of it being an appetizer, it came out with the meal. I wouldn’t eat here again.

Gave it another shot. Again, the service was good, but the prices don’t justify the quality of the food. Really, the nearby food court has better options.

Had an early lunch here at the bar. Very friendly, attentive bartender. Pretzel sticks as an app and a turkey burger and fries for an entrée. Both good. Restaurant almost has a hotel feel I thought. Only complaint is that it was a little too chilly-even in my sweatjacket. Otherwise nothing really stands out about this place, but a perfectly acceptable efficient place for lunch and a couple beers.

Overpriced and unimpressive. Best time to go is when there is some kind of special deal happening concurrent with a sporting event. Otherwise, save your $$ and eat in the food court. Even Bertucci’s would be a better choice. The staff is very polite and friendly, but they don’t distract from mediocrity of this place. It’s allowed to thrive because there’s not much else in the area.

I work in the area and I also have Celiac disease. SO they are one in the few that sell Gluten free meals. You would think if I ordered GLUTENFREE I would receive gluten free. You are wrong my friends. Please be aware of you orders especially if you have allergies. My last 3 experiences have been not so good, 2 of my orders were not made gluten free after I made clear of my gluten allergy, and my third experience was with the waitress that took my order. She proceeded to tell me all she could to was pass along my request… HMMMMMM My having an allergy isn’t really a request but ok. Now my second bad experience the manager offered for my food to be free he assured my that even though my card was swiped he can still go and uncharged it, well that never happened either I was still charged. SO all and all Farewell Longwood Bar and Grill. I will say One good thing the Bar tender(sorry never got her name) always seems very pleasant whenever I am there.

A few friends and I were trying to find somewhere nearby for breakfast/brunch this morning. We arrived and there was nearly nobody in the restaurant, but nobody was in a rush to seat us(should have been the first sign). After a few minutes, someone finally sat us, and then we were told by a server«I’ll be with you a few minutes.» This took almost 10 minutes before we saw her again to take our order. The rest of the service was just as slow. The food was mediocre at best(my plate had a puddle of melted butter because of how long it was obviously sitting under the warmers.) There are so many great places to get food in this city that I can’t in good faith recommend this for anything. You’re better off walking the block down the street to Bruegger’s Bagels. It may not be a «sit down» restaurant, but I would eat there any day over Longwood Grille & Bar. This is a «you get what you pay for» type of place.

I was just going to grab a fast bite at the(indoor) Longwood Food Court, however it wasn’t air conditioned on a 90 degree day. Walking all the way through, I saw what might be air conditioned… the Longwood. Nice looking place, air conditioned… and that’s about all that was good about my experience. Being alone, I decided to eat at the bar. I ordered a beer and a turkey club sandwich. The sandwich had an option of fries or salad. I chose the salad. It looked like it had been sitting for hours, all dried out, and was delivered with the wrong dressing. Quite some time passed between the salad and sandwich delivery. The bartender was asked three times to check on the sandwich because it was taking too long. She seemed like I was already history, and was too occupied pouring drinks to apparently care. She also never had the courtesy to ask the customary«everything all right»? The sandwich while tasty, was turkey challenged… hardly any. Way too many good places to eat in Boston to bother with this place.

I was here at 7pm on a Saturday night. There was only three other people in the restaurant. That should’ve been my cue to dine somewhere else. I had been at Children’s Hospital with my sick son since 8am. The last thing I ate was a bowl of Cheerios at 7am. It was a lot better than the cold flavorless potatoes and borderline rancid steak tips they severed me. My advice would be to eat at any of the places in the Food Court right outside their door. It’ll be a lot cheaper and I can guarantee more flavorful.

Do yourself a favor, walk two blocks in any direction away from this place! I really can’t say one good thing.

I read the other reviews, but I am staying in the hotel, and I thought, «How bad can it be?» I don’t know Boston, I have work I need to do tonight, and I just want something to eat. How bad was it? That bad. The food was tolerable(but we’ll see if there are consequences later); the service was atrocious. I could have used some condiments with my food … if ever the server returned to my table. I think I spent an hour waiting to get the bill then at least a half hour waiting for it to be picked up. It wasn’t. I finally just put my hotel room number on it and a note about the awful service and left. I went down and chewed on the desk staff at the hotel for having recommended the place. The truly irritating thing is that there was hardly a customer in the place! How difficult can this be?

I come here all the time because I’m lazy and it’s the only place on the block that has beer. The service is hit or miss. Some of the servers will plop you down with water and disappear for hours. Others will be amazingly attentive and super nice. If you drink enough beer, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference. Definitely don’t come here for lunch, unless you have about 3 hours to kill.(The service is inexplicably slower during the day than in the evening.) The food is pretty good, but not super special or anything. Pretty standard bar fare. It’s nice and quiet, even when there are big groups.

Do you like diarrhea? If you answered«no» you shouldn’t go here. I have a pretty tough stomach but one meal here destroyed me. I’m sure it was a once off and it would be a lot better if I returned next time. But I don’t plan to take a chance. The food was average.

It’s convenient… really that’s all it has going for it. The food is frozen, the beer is your standard options, and it’s decently priced. Service is really hit or miss. You either get the extremely friendly and attentive server or the miserable wench that doesn’t want to be within a 1000 mile radius of the place. If you need a quick bite or beer in the Longwood area, sure go for it… but there are plenty of options right down the street.

I finally went back to the Longwood Grille & Bar for some apps/happy hour specials. The waitress started off very nice, but once my friends showed up and we started eating/drinking, we got a bit of attitude… It was a Wednesday evening and we ordered several of the special peach sangrias and a bunch of apps, so I don’t know why we got attitude. The sangrias were delicious and strong(and at $ 5, an awesome deal!). We stuck to the ½ price apps(they were out of the Mac & Cheese Fritters — sad!) and got a few of the Chicken Quesadillas, an order of Buffalo Chicken Tenders, an order of Mini Burgers and the Crab Cakes(I didn’t try these). Everything we had was ok, but nothing was spectacular. I stand by my 2-star rating. This time, the food was better, but the service was lackluster.
