:(Closed. Estragon is converting the space into a function room. BOOOOOOOOOO!

Went here with a coworker during one of our training days since we were in the area. I had heard so many good things about this place so I decided to check it out for myself. For my sandwich, I decided to go with the chorizo pressed sandwich. The chorizo was packed on it and had really good flavor. I thought that the sandwich could have used a bit more aioli, but other than that, it was spot on and a good size for the price. The only downside to this place is that it took about 15 minutes for the sandwich to be prepared, and there wasn’t even a line. Hopefully this was just a fluke because I definitely will be back for more.

They really need to lay off the excessive amounts of mayo they use to mask the lack of taste in their sandwiches. Tried the rib eye and grilled chicken — quite underwhelming. Both baguette and ciabatta are very doughy, not much meat in the sandwiches, and both the chicken and steak were over cooked to the point that they were dry.

Where did all the old staff go? They were very nice and made me feel comfortable when having lunch here, and looking forward to come back, rather than the new staff, from the one taking order to the one making the sandwiches, they got me feeling not want to come back at all, they were not friendly, but acting stuck up, rude, and laugh in your face attitude. Yeah, sure the sandwiches are good, but they’re not the only place offer good food around South End, this won’t be lunch spot for me & my coworkers anymore.

Here for lunch on Saturday, but it is very closed. Hours on door and Unilocal say it should be open

A warm, savory sandwich really hits the spot on a freezing, snowy day– and thankfully Las Ventas is here to provide good food to the barren wasteland and food desert that is the South End. The food here tastes like it was made under sunshine somewhere warm-so I’m coming back. I’ve had their Iberia(fried eggplant, goat cheese, arugula, roasted red pepper) which was doused in the best EVOO– it was so good. I’ve also had Del Campo(portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers, goat cheese, pesto). It was perfectly dressed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. their pastry was also surprisingly good– I tried the sticky bun– it was really buttery and delicious without being too sweet.

What happened to this place? It used to be great. Did it change management, or is it just that the new employees aren’t as good? I know they’re not as friendly. Whatever the case, it’s too bad. The Dona Inez sandwich used to be so good, and consistent. Now the only thing consistent about it is how bad it is(was that American cheese they put on it last time?).

Hidden gem. Sandwiches are made with high quality ingredients — bread is a baguette that’s crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The meats they have make me feel like I’m in Spain. I’ve had the Castilla and Camila Twist before, which I both recommend. The meat is sliced thinly and packed with salty goodness. I would skip the Mallorca. way too greasy.

I stumbled into this place and immediately fell in love! The greeting I got was more than I expected and the service was more than a 5 star! When I looked at the menu, I was pleased to see many vegetarian options! I tried the Dona Lara which is mixed greens, figs and goats cheese! Can I say, YUM??? It was amazing! I have recommended it to all my coworkers and have planned another outing with friends to try this place!

A bit of a hike from my office, but the sandwiches make it worth the walk. The pollo pimenton is amazing and yes thank you to the serrano ham/fig jam/manchego sandwich. Soooo good. Not a ton of seats but the atmosphere is nice, definitely a favorite for lunch.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the American food here, namely the Chicken sandwich. By no mean it’s bad, but it’s just not as good when you compare it to some of the other option. Love their Las Ventas sandwich, and I’ve decided to try out all items on their menu, eventually, it’s a good place to get your lunch.

Came here for a team lunch and realized it’s right next to Estragon and shares a kitchen? When we got there it wasn’t too crowded and the people working were really friendly. Since we were a large party they let us sit at the high tops in Estragon, which was nice. I tried their Castilla sandwich and it was delicious! The baguette was really flaky and delicious and really made the sandwich. I like that they had Sriracha sauce by the counter because I totally put that all over my sandwich. It’s about the same price as getting a sandwich at Flour but it’s a different type of sandwich. Some people in the group got the chicken sandwich which looked good too so I want to try that next time. Definitely take note of the hours of this place !

Terrific sandwiches. We have been coming here for years. I could eat the las ventas sandwich or the mallorca sandwich every day. Best part is there is never much of a line.

Amazing. Fresh Bread. Chorizo. Snobby dark chocolate. Scrumptious top-drawer foods. +‘s: Big ol’ hunk of pig leg sittin’ on the counter -‘s: Not much seating.

Came here for lunch for the Castillo sandwich on a crusty baguette. That’s thin-sliced chorizo with greens, aioli(read: mayo), and manchego cheese. First of all, yum! The chorizo was maybe not as spicy as I’m used to, but it was no great loss because it was really flavorful and not dry at all. The cheese was a great pairing and was also delicious and sliced generously enough that I could taste it in every bite. The baguette was quite crusty and delicious and as a result after eating the whole sandwich(which is giant) the roof of my mouth was a bit tender. But that could be because I went to town on this thing with the focus, drive and dedication of a tazmanian devil trying to swallow its prey before the other devils can get it. The inside of the café had seating and was decorated tastefully. They have seating indoors and out. They also have a meat and cheese deli-style counter where I assume you can buy by the pound. There were at least 3 vegan/vegetarian sandwich options that all looked really filling and delicious, enough so that I was tempted to give up the chorizo to try one. Staff was friendly, patient and obliging. Great place for lunch.

Las Ventas has GREAT food. Piss poor hours. I eat it when I can get in, but dang man. That Cuban sandwich calls out to me at all the wrong hours, aka when they’re not open. I believe Las Ventas serves the lunch-time area medical students and professionals? That may be why, I’m not sure.

You get a high quality infinitely delicious version of Subway 6 inch. Come here and come here often. Money well spent. Bocadillos well had. In Winter months it’s less occupied and still 100% delish. Summer they do some nice drinks too. Nom nom. If you’re heading home after your sandwich purchase I highly recommend you take home paella provisions and tortilla. Las Ventas is Estragon’s better half by leaps and bounds.

What sets this place apart is the freshness of ingredients. You have 4 choices of bread. Being my first time here, I kept things simple. I ordered the Las Ventas on Sour dough. The bread was killer and nicely toasted. The inside looked like eggs, potato, and peppers – nothing fancy but it was made fresh, still warm as it entered my mouth, and like all good foods, just put a smile on my face as I was eating it. I went at noon and there were only a few people ahead of me. Going in, I wondered where to order and the ordering board is hidden to your left. Just pick what you want and what bread. You can also customize. I waited about 5 minutes and sat outside to eat – glad I did because my sandwich was delicious eaten fresh. I think had I brought it home, it would not have tasted nearly as good. Next time I will try the Mallorca… that looks good!

One of thee best sandwiches I’ve ever had! Que rico! The flavors linger in your mouth even after its all done. Then you want more but then that would be considered gluttony. This small little spanish deli in the South End might be my new favorite sandwich shop. Its a to-go kinda place since they have no room for tables. I had the Extre Madura– pork with carmelized onions. My hubby had the Americano– rib eye with carmelized onions and peppers. Both sandwiches had a yummy aioli sauce on a baguette. They both were so good and the prices were reasonable at $ 7.50 per sandwich. You’re surrounded by spanish foods and deli hams and cheeses. Makes you want to buy a pound and try to make these sandwiches at home. I just might do that next time. I would try to come more often but parking can be tricky. Love. Love. Love. this place.

When I got back from Spain, I typed in the word«bocadillo» on the Boston Unilocal search engine, and this place came up. A bocadillo is a sandwich that is popular in Spain. This place has been high on my list to try the bocadillos and I finally got the chance to eat here. This place is not really a restaurant, it’s more of a market counter that sells not only bocadillos, but also various Spanish groceries like ham, chorizo sausage, and ingredients to make paella, which is a Spanish rice dish. When I came in, I had a difficult time deciding on what I wanted to get. Eventually I settled on getting a Las Ventas, which is a sandwich with a Spanish Tortilla inside. A Spanish Tortilla is an egg omelet with onions and potatoes mixed inside. I had it on a baguette. The sandwich was deliciously good. The baguette was nice and toasty, the eggs in the omelet were freshly cooked, and the potatoes were nice and soft. The Spanish Tortilla brought back some good food memories in Toledo, where I was introduced to that dish. The alioli inside just made the sandwich even tastier despite making the sandwich messy. The sandwich was pretty big, I would say about an extra 1⁄3 bigger compared to the biggest bocadillo I had in Madrid. I had another dish, this time I got a Chicken Empanada. This is a small pastry filled with chicken. It had a tiny bit of spice in it, was really soft, but decently good. At $ 1.50, it is a good choice for an inexpensive snack. On the counter, there is a plate filled with falafel chips. I had some pieces, and they were almost addicting to eat despite the spice inside. Overall, this is a great place to get some Spanish bocadillos, and I believe I had some of the best sandwiches in Boston so far. I would definitely come back to eat some more of the tasty sandwiches they have to offer and if I want to bring back some of the great food memories of Spain.
