Nothing special really except that it’s ‘Thai’ and convenient if you work in the financial district and don’t want to trek to Chinatown. I ordered chicken pad thai($ 9.58 incl. tax) and it was decent although I would’ve much loved it more if they were more generous with the amount of chicken given the price. The noodles was on the too-much-sauce spectrum, but nonetheless, I did enjoy it.

Great spot across from meter parking and next to the great massage spot, Boston Backworks. It looks like a deli from the outside, I was confused if this was an Asian restaurant. When you walk in you walk up to the menu and there are brown plastic cafeteria style trays. When your food is ready they do not bring it to your table which is kind of ridiculous since the restaurant is tiny and not busy. I ordered the country style pad thai and tomyum soup. Pad thai was devoid of veggies and small amount pf duck but it was spicy and tasty and very satisfying. The tomyum soup was from a mix and too tart. Pretty mediocre for $ 4.95, but did also warm my cold heart. However it is a convenient spot for getting a quick bite and doing some computer stuff for a while. They are friendly even if the customer service is not ideal. I left happy to have a warm bright spot to work out of and thankful for a happy warm belly full. Its clean and tasty and its downtown in a safe spot. What more could the commuting hungry traveller want? It was an hour well spent.

Just know I eat a lot of Thai and this is just over priced crapasot. Enough said find something anything better: too hot, too expensive and just not good

Can’t go wrong with lunches here. The dishes have a great balance of vegetables and meat. Food is seasoned well — not too salty, not dry. Service is fast and everyone is courteous. Price is typical for the location.

I’m a bit discouraged to find out that I’m not the only one who found foreign objects in their food. Found two metal bars in my take out, see picture. When I called to tell them the lady I spoke with was accusatory, not a peasant interaction. If it were me, I’d avoid this place.

2.8 stars? This is the«new» Rock Sugar Café as many people have mentioned. I’ve been occasionally going over the last 10+ years. Their cuts of beef are a little fatty and not the best quality, but I don’t expect a ton for $ 8 – 10 for lunch. Did take a bit long to make lunch, even if I call it in(although as this is one of the few Thai places around, it’s very popular). They do things a bit spicy, although I like spicy — some people may not. It’s very casual Thai food … although most of their dishes are large vegetables and meats in some kind of coconut-based sauce. Because a lot of stuff is sitting in some kind of sauce, it’s not going to be particularly crispy(if you were expecting crispy). The service was pretty good. Having been to a number of other Thai places(West coast; Boston — Brown Sugar Café, both locations and the Similans in Cambridge, The King and I in Beacon Hill, 9 Tastes in Harvard Square, Sugar and Spice, Sweet Chilis, etc.), it’s okay — nothing to really write home about. There are way better ones out there but this is convenient.

Ok I have no idea why or how but EVERY time I eat Lanta I 100% will have MAJOR stomach issues the following day. This is the only Thai place that consistently gives me a horrible stomach ache the following day. So why the 3 stars? It’s just so damn good… I’m not sure if the after effects of eating their food is worth it especially since this last time I actually had to leave work early from how sick I got. Is it a cleanliness issue? Is it super dirty inside the kitchen?! I don’t want to find out but I think I shan’t be ordering from here anymore… So sad!

To me some of their dishes are so delicious, and some are so so. I love Mongo Curry & Chic and Chic Hot Basil. Even leftover taste so delicious!

I order daily in Beacon Hill. Best Thai in the city. Curry top notch and the Drunken Noodles are spectacular. If you get delivery its timely and delivered to your exact location not on the street. Top notch service.

Coming from NYC, this place is better than most of the Thaj places on Hell’s Kitchen. People here are all Thai and I assume that’s a sign of authentic food! One of the best lunch place. Try drunken noodle and massaman curry

Excellent food! Definitely recommend steamed Thai dumplings and Thai wings! Also get your Thai iced tea, you won’t regret it! Would come again to try out more!

I really wish I took a picture of this but I was so shocked that this happened, I wanted to give it back to them immediately. I ordered from this place about 15 minutes ago. As I am enjoying my prik king meal, I almost bit on a flat hard substance. I pulled it out of my mouth and it was a nickel! I brought it back and all they said«do you want another one or your money back?» Not sure what else to expect, I asked for my money back. I still can’t believe it.

The food here is passable, bordering on not good — my drunken noodle was pretty bland. This place also smells musty and mildewy, which is seriously off-putting when you go to pick up your food.

This is usually my go to place for lunch. I usually like the Tofu Pad See Ew or the Chicken Drunken Noodle. They always make them right. Try and call ahead if you can, this place can get insanely busy during the work week.

I ordered the pad thai and sweet sticky rice, but had to tack on the steamed veggies after being told that deliveries must be a certain amount before tax. Fine– it was a good way to get me to eat my veggies. The delivery took 52 minutes, which was within the 45 – 60 minute time frame. The pad thai was alright in flavor. It had the essence of pad thai, but I asked for it mild in terms of spice and there was absolutely no spice. I did ask for no bean sprouts and received it with no bean sprouts. Excellent. As an order, the steamed veggies were just that– steamed veggies. I don’t believe there was any seasoning on them at all, making them boring but exactly as they were advertised. Of my whole order, the sweet sticky rice was the most disappointing part. The sweet sticky rice turned out to be nothing more than plain, bland, flavorless sticky rice. If it hadn’t taken almost an hour for my food to arrive in the first place, I would have called and asked for my proper order. Overall? The food was average at best– it wasn’t anything stellar but it also wasn’t the worst that I’ve had. Timing for the delivery was rough, but I’m not from the Boston area and don’t know if 45 – 60 minutes is considered ‘acceptable’ as a delivery time. Receiving a wrong order is the worst, though, and for that I knocked off two stars in my rating(bland food and delivery time were the other one).

Drunken Noodles, Chicken Madness & Hot Basil Shrimp are my favorite dishes. Usually go there for lunch, and definitely above average quality of food. This is a place for grab ‘no go or quick carry out place. It’s quite good if you like Thai food although might prove to be on the spicier side for some.

Delicious and affordable. I loved this place when it was Rock Sugar Thai and I still love it today. My favorite are the mango /papaya /pineapple curries — with rice and tofu, it’s the perfect combination of spice and vegetables, without feeling too heavy or unhealthy. All my friends find great things here — drunken noodles with extra spice, rice with chicken, spring rolls, all sorts of deliciousness for every diet and set of taste buds. Pro tip: order ahead either online or by calling — the lines move quickly but there’s not a lot of space to stand while you wait.

Lanta — I love your vibe so much. Imagine hot fresh Thai food. In downtown Boston, among overpriced sandwich shops and fancy banking businesses, lies a little yellow restaurant– with delicious Asian fare The menu is surprisingly expansive. I’ve only sampled a few items. Pad Thai is great. Made to order. Hot. Tofu is spongy warm and fried. Love it. Fresh rolls are clean. Rice wrap. Lettuce. Vermicelli noodles. Shrimp. Carrots. Basil. Peanut dipping sauce. How on earth do you get more delicious?! So good. Just go. I’ve never had lunch there only dinner to go. But it’s good. Very good.

Our office, myself included, orders enough food from here to probably pay their monthly rent. It’s about time I write a review for Lanta. The service is beyond friendly here. They manage to recognize most faces and always a warm hello. Even the cooks occasionally look up to wave or shout out a greeting. The place itself isn’t much. No white table cloths here! But it’s clean… sure, plastic-y, but neat and orderly. Food is quick and fast, flavorful Thai food. Avoid mixed seafood dishes… they noticeably smell like they come from pre-frozen bags… you know which ones I’m talking about. But everything else is pretty solid popular Thai food. If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve used«fast» here several times. The lunchlines never last long here. And if you can’t stand even that late, they do online ordering through seamless as well.

This place is delicious and I am so happy to have discovered a great lunch place so close to my work. According to some coworkers who live in Thailand, the food is not particularly… authentic…but it’s delicious nonetheless. Most lunch portions tend to be enough for two(or even three) lunches, and so the prices tend to be a steal if you take that into account. I particularly recommend the pad thai fried rice(nomz) as well as the Pad-C-U. Their online descriptions can sometimes be deceptive(like the time I ordered steamed fish and got deep fried fish) but at least you can order online to beat the line! The place is pretty small and can get packed around peak lunch times, so I’d recommend coming at weird hours if you want to sit in their [limited] eating area, or order online and pick it up to take wherever.
