Jacquelyn’s Waterfront Day Spa

This place is wonderful, especially for first time waxers! I was researching several places to decide where I should get my first bikini and underarm wax. Total cost for both was $ 45, unbelievably reasonable price. I’m so happy with my choice. Joy was my waxer. She was great! We chatted the whole time. She is very professional and put me at ease. I made my appointment by calling her. She wasn’t able to answer my call but immediately texted me back. Since I was at work too, it was more convenient for me to text back and forth with her. We settled on an appointment time. She also answered all my silly questions regarding first time waxing. I will definitely be coming back regularly for all my waxing needs!

Joy is the best esthetician I’ve ever had wax me. She gives a meticulous, relatively painless Brazilian and doesn’t leave a stray hair behind. She’s also really nice and fun to talk to. Highly recommend her!!!

There aren’t many updated reviews on here, so I thought I would add a current review. I came with a Gilt City deal, and they did not skimp on quality or service at all!
I came for a Brazilian wax. The room is located in the basement down the spiral staircase. I had a great experience with my waxer, Joy, because she was super friendly and made sure to keep me distracted while she was waxing away, which I really appreciated.
PROS
Their hard wax is definitely less painful than strips.
Very clean waxing results. She got every little part, and I have never had such a clean wax that lasted well over 4 weeks.
CONS
The hard wax is A LOT hotter than other hard waxes. I winced every time she applied it, but maybe that’s why the wax works so well?
The bed had cotton sheets, and she placed a small cloth under my rear. I’m not sure if these are cleaned or sanitary, but I didn’t really want to think about it.
Otherwise, this is a boutique waxing service that really caters to their customers. I really do hope they change those bed sheets!

Jacquelyn’s is my go-​to for all skincare needs. Her place is quiet, quaint, and intimate. You don’t feel like you’re paraded around with other guests on a timeline — like many of the spas on Newbury — and you’re always greeted with a smile, some hot tea and a pleasant experience. I’ve had facials and waxing from Jacquelyn, and I swear by her skincare line. She’s available by appointment only so you will have to call ahead, but making plans to be here is worth it. Treat yourself!

I’ve been going to Jacquelyn for nearly two years and I have nothing to complain about. She is incredibly professional, in every sense. I see her for Brazilian waxes every 6 – 8 weeks. I have never felt uncomfortable with her; she makes it a point to have her clients feel as comfortable as possible, given the situation. The wax itself is as painless as can be. I have NEVER bled, broken out or have had any other reactions. As an Irish girl with pale skin, I thought for sure that every hair follicle would bleed, but nope, that has never happened! The results also last for quite some time. Jacquelyn asks how you would like your wax prior to starting the wax; still every time I go, she double checks with me just in case anything has changed! She is also SUPER accommodating. I could get a same-​day appointment, if I needed to! She is punctual, but never rushes me. Even after moving out of the area, I make a point to only see Jacquelyn for my brazilians. She is amazing!

So I had a wax here and while I think Jacquelyn was very nice and made me feel comfortable, I don’t think I’ll be returning. I’m writing this review as there aren’t any recent ones, so I figured I’d help out others who are searching for a bikini wax. Here’s the detailed (TMI) down low:
— The price is NICE ($ 45)! But, maybe that’s why my following bullets aren’t that impressive. Perhaps I should have known since surrounding places are $ 65 – 80.
— I’ve heard some people complain about having to undress in front of the person doing the waxing. If that makes you uncomfortable, this is not the place for you. We walked into the room and she closed the door and let me know to put my clothes on the chair. Granted she’ll see you up close and personal no matter what… but it’s just a bit awkward to undress in front of her.
— She did put a cushion on the table where your buttocks goes… but it seems like it’s one that is used for every person who is there with no clean covering from one person to the next. If that’s the case, that’s a bit gross. I’d prefer a fresh towel each time, or even doctor’s room paper so you know it’s new and not re-​used with each client.
— She does have you place your hands to pull areas taut. I was OK with this, but it was hard since I was sweating. I have spoken to friends that said some places will use baby powder to help with the sweating. That probably would have been appreciated or helpful.
— I asked for everything to be gone. Everything. I have many hairs left everywhere as well as inside my… inner bits. The inner bits seem to be a location that wasn’t even addressed at all during the experience. I even have hairs (not just ripped hairs that were waxed over, but places that were forgotten/​missed) outside my bikini line that I’ll have to address on my own. I was expecting to be entirely bare after my wax. I’m not. This was probably one of the most disappointing parts especially since the wax started with Jacquelyn asking what I wanted and I specifically said I wanted it all gone.
— I have bruising on my bikini line crease. Not just redness… I have purple spots. They were there during my appointment but I didn’t say anything about it or ask about it so I do regret that. The bruising/​intense blood blisters are from the section that was waxed first. Not quite what I was looking forward to as I had a beach weekend starting 24 hours after the wax. Was the bruising because I’m sensitive or because of her technique? That I’m not sure about. I am submitting this review more than 48 hours after the wax because I wanted to give it time in case the bruising went away… but it has not. It did give my friends a good laugh, though, since they could all see it outside of my bikini.
— When I’ve gotten waxed before I was left feeling smooth and clean after being rubbed down with a nice lotion that removes wax and also soothes the area. Yes, it’s awkward to be rubbed down with lotion… but it’s nice to feel smooth and refreshed afterwards so it’s an OK trade-​off. Here I was given a round cotton piece with some oil on it to rub on myself… which left me standing there with cotton bits on my lady bits… and awkwardly rubbing myself while Jacquelyn continued to converse with me.
Overall a very nice lady and a clean location, but not a place I’ll be visiting again. Perhaps I just had a bad experience, but I’ll definitely be trying a different location recommended by my close friends to see if I experience more positive results.

It is time for an updated review and Jacquelyns definitely deserves it. I searched high and low for a place to get a Brazilian that is walking distance from my work. Needless to say everything in the Seaport district is way over priced. But not Jacquelyns — $ 45 bucks in comparison to $ 60 EVERYWHERE ELSE for a Brazilian that I can fit in during my lunch break? Ill take it!
I went to see Joy who was a SUPER nice young woman. She made me feel really comfortable and we chatted during the wax which mentally relieved some pain and nervousness. Joy uses hard wax — its so much less painful! .She was very quick and thorough.
A week later I called back and left a voice mail for a cleanup right before a trip
Joy called me right away and was very understanding with my concern. She directed my concern to Jacquelyn since she was going to be out for a week. I set up an appointment and went in 2 days later.
Jacquelyn was so nice and cleaned me up free of charge! She uses strips unlike Joy, but she is GOOD, no pain! She really goes above and beyond .
I am SO happy I found them I will certainly be returning!
oh PS– the spa is SO CUTE right in the north end and the surrounding area is BEAUTIFUL!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Jacquelyn is the best! She is knowledgable, thorough and doesn’t push products. I have been going to her for about 12 years and every service I have had is great– facials, peels, lashes, waxing, spray tans… She uses natural products and I will never go anyplace else! I highly recommend her– you will be hooked!

This review is very much delayed, and it is based on bikini waxing only.
I have been to Jacquelyn’s three times already and she makes the experience nearly painless. You will always have pain when getting waxed but she makes you feel comfortable with the process. She talks to you while she’s working which gets your mind off of the pain.
She is thorough and efficient. On occasion she might miss a spot, I think its a mix of the hair being thin and the lighting, but if you let her know, she’ll take care of it right away.
If its your first time making an appointment, I suggest leaving a message if she doesn’t answer. Let her know if you are calling from a cell, she may text you back the available times for appointments. She knows her clientele. Since she is far from where I live I usually can only go during the week when I am in the area for work. Sometimes the mid-​day appoints are taken, so she offers to take me in at 8am. Since I am already in the area by that time anyway its perfect. She is very accommodating when it comes to appointments.
The four stars was for customer service and work product. What makes this place five stars is the price. $ 42 for the wax. You cannot find that price anywhere in this city! She accepts credit cards and you can leave the tip on there too!
Needless to say, Jacquelyn is my girl.

The hair stylist here, Tina, is the bomb! Best haircuts ever.

Jacquelyn’s is a one stop shop for my beauty needs. I look forward to seeing her during facials and waxes. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and makes you feel comfortable as possible. Her prices are the most reasonable in the city for the excellent service you receive. I highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to Jacquelyn’s for at least two years now. After a nightmare first bikini wax I thought I would never try it again. But I did and I am SO glad! I am a huge fan of Ivona’s waxing! She is super fast and VERY thorough! I’ve had Lauren a couple times for waxing as well, and she does a super job, too! There have been times when I’ve had to call for an appointment on short notice and they have always been very accommodating. They are all very nice and I don’t think I’ve ever had to to wait around for a scheduled appointment. Plus, the prices are the best I’ve ever found in Boston! I highly recommend you try Jacquelyn’s!

Let me just say I will NEVER return here again! So I had an appt for my monthly bikini wax with Laura as well as a facial. I received a call from Jacquelyn on Thursday saying that Laura could no longer do my facial. I asked if she was still available for the wax and she said «yes.» I thought this was odd but whatever. So I randomly ran into my waxer Laura (shes the best) on Friday night, I told her I would be seeing her tomorrow and she told me she was no longer working there due to differences with Jacquelyn. Ok-​so Jacquelyn BLATANTLY LIED to me about my appt-​she knew that Laura would not be there for my wax but to keep my appt and business she lied. That is not ok! Will never go back which is sad bc the price is the cheapest in the city!

So I do not write reviews. Ever. But this, THIS, cannot go unreviewed. I called in sorta last minute but they accommodated me and gave me a appointment. Brownie points. I had not had a facial in years (like when I was 13, I’m turning 22 next month). I also have sensitive, acne prone skin. I always wanted to try glycolic peel but was terrified my face would burn and fall off. Jacquelyn was a sweetheart over the phone and explained that almost anyone can take it and that they’d test it anyway.
So I come in. Nice cozy, welcoming place, and Laura awaits me. She is a goddess. We talked about everything and then some. Gives one hell of a relaxing foot and hand massage (my favs!), all inclusive with the facial. She has very gentle hands, and very considerate to make sure you are relaxed and that she’s not doing anything too uncomfortable. I got to try the glycolic and the whole time she was checking to make sure I was ok. I FREAKING LOVE THAT STUFF!
After just one session, my skin is glowing. Laura is professional, chill, considerate and just straight up AWESOME! The prices are ridiculous for the quality of the service. As long as the prices remain fair, and the service outstanding, why go anywhere else? No need in changing what works!

Wow! Since moving to the area last August I’ve been on a mission to find a decent facial and a good Brazilian wax… it’s so hard after having developed a relationship with the woman I’d been going to in Providence for the last few years. I’m so grateful for the other Unilocalers who helped me find Ivona at Jacquelyn’s. She certainly lives up to her reputation… made an appointment within two days of my call, and from the minute I walked through the door to the minute I left there is not a single thing I could have asked to be better. Parking in that area can be a pain, but its one I will gladly endure every time I return for my facials and waxing. Couldn’t be happier!

This is an adorable salon, and I had a great time (which isn’t always the case when getting a bikini wax) I had Laura (or Lauren!?) as my waxer, and she was friendly and made the whole experience quick and relativly painless. She was also insanley thorough and managed to give me one of the best waxes I’ve ever had. I’ve been all over Boston, but I think I finally found «the place» for all my waxing needs! Oh, and the prices are the cheapest I have seen in the city!

My husband came to Boston for business and whereas we had a day to sightsee, I was on my own today. So, I went where every girl should go… the spa!
Susan was my masseuse and she was awesome! 1.5 hours was a reasonable price, so I went for it. Totally worth it! She found spots I didn’t even know were sore! I have major back «issues» and she was not only understanding, but knowledgeable too. She managed to work the heck out of my left side which is the culprit and I walked away feeling great.
Susan would be one reason to move to Boston!

Booked a waxing appointment the day before. They squeezed me in even though the appointment would be before they technically opened. Wax was great, she was fast but not rough and did a great job. Chatted nicely through the whole thing. One of the best parts was how affordable they were. I will definitely be back!

I got a great pedi here. Ivona was very sweet, enthusiastic and professional. I will definitely be going back for more!
