Went here to grab a snack during a training for work. I have walked past the building that this place is in many, many times and never noticed it before – so it’s easy to miss. That being said, this place shouldn’t be passed over. It was still early, but the girl at the front pushed through a sandwich order for me even though it was not technically lunch time – she even gave me a discount since I ended up waiting like 20 minutes, which was nice. I ordered one of their turkey pesto sandwiches and carried it back with me to the training. Little did I know, the sandwich had been mislabeled and I actually grabbed one of their ham and brie sandwiches! Regardless, the sandwich was quite tasty and I was extremely satisfied, even with a different sandwich. This place is definitely worth checking out and is still a hidden gem for lunch in the South End area.

The coffee is very good here. I’ve had it a number of times and find it balanced and rich. Surprised to say, better than Sta******, Bu*****, and Flo**. Maxine is always super to customers and does some great art work.

Ummm, you guys. I got a 4pm special of a Cubano a few weeks ago for the first time. I didn’t get a bite till it was cold and sad at 6pm, and it is still the finest sandwich i’ve had in probably 2 years. Holy balls. The roasted pork on it’s own is flavorful and magical, and totally not bland like a lot of cubanos. Then the whole shebang in one bite? AHHHH! The herbally oil or spread that is on it is ridiculous and the pickles and happiness makes me think of muffalettas and everything awesome in the world. Damn you and thank you for this gift that i’ll now be craving with every breathe.

Love this place. They offer quality, pre-made soups, salads and sandwiches. I often get the same thing(the«kinda» Niçoise salad) and a soup. The soups are always good and they switch up the offerings. Best part … I can be in and out of Greenlight with food in hand in about two minutes(tops). Great if you’re in a hurry on your lunch hour.

Green light café is a hidden gem in the South End. Their food comes from the Gaslight kitchen which means gourmet sandwiches and soups for lunch. Best of all, their service is awesome. Everyone in the office building loves Maxine and Sam!

I used to like this place… Few months back they raised their prices and made the food worse. I would always go for the sandwiches. Loved them on the Focaccia bread. Then they removed that bread and replaced it with some dull bread and now the sandwiches are 80% bread. You even get charged for Ice… i mean come on… The only thing that’s great about this place is the staff, they’re super friendly and have fun at their job. But my advice to the management is if you’re going to raise prices at least make the food better. Cheerio!

I honestly don’t know what I would do without greenlight. I work in one of the office buildings nearby and it really saves me when I need to grab a quick lunch and run back to my meetings! The chicken soup without fail is delicious. My favorite sandwiches are the turkey pesto, the italian, and another one I don’t remember :) their breakfast sandwiches are great too! Also, the ladies who work there are so nice and sweet! Always nice seeing them.

Greenlight is, as the name suggests, good for a quick bite. They brew quality coffee, but occasionally I’ve found some grounds in the bottom of my cup, which is unpleasant. However, you can only complain so much when they provide $ 1 refills in your reusable cup. You won’t find that anywhere else(not in the South End, anyway). The staff is friendly, and the food is made fresh every day.

Everything is premised and repetitive after you go more then five time you have practically had it all. There are are places close by that make fresh made to order lunch and coffee. Staff is very friendly. This is in my building and I choose to go down the block.

This place is really hit or miss. I suggest getting here before 1 if you want to get any of the good sandwiches or soups, especially in the winter when people who work in these buildings don’t want to walk down the street for lunch. In the summer though they have a nice seat-yourself patio. They have pretty good premade sandwiches, salads and soups. The Tomato Bisque is delicious. I’ve also seen signs for Chili a few times in the winter but I was never lucky enough to catch it before it disappeared, which probably means it’s delectable. I like the Croque Monsieur sandwiches– they come from Gaslight’s kitchen so they’re usually really good. I’ve also tried a turkey pesto sandwich which had a little too much bread, but was also nice and flavorful, and the italian sandwich which was a little bit greasy but also good. There have been some off-days with Greenlight, but overall they’re pretty consistent. That being said, I come here firstly because it’s convenient. If you’re farther away and have the time, just go whole hog and go to Gaslight.

This Café is a great go-to if you’re looking for something quick to pick up for lunch or are jonesing for a good afternoon coffee. I had the Ham & Cheese with caramelized onions and the husband got an spicy Italian. Since the sandwiches are premade in Gaslight’s kitchen you aren’t able to modify the food, but the ham and cheese was good and the Italian was«the spiciest-delicious Italian sub» he ever ate. The have a good amount of sandwich options and I really like that their wraps are served on Naan. After 4pm they serve all their fresh food at 50% off so you can pick up dinner to go on the cheap. I think it’s a great little café.

I frequent Greenlight since it’s close to work, and I’ve always had a good experience. I’ve tried the Cobb Salad, Nicoise Salad, Chili, and Curried Egg Salad Sandwich, and all have been pretty good. And the Chocolate Croissant is a real winner — yes, it’s tiny at $ 2, but it’s so good! The girl who works the counter is super friendly too. It gets docked a star because it is a little on the expensive side($ 7.50 for an okayyyy-sized salad). Also, you don’t get too much variety here. I know they’re functioning out of a small space, but it’d be nice if they mixed things up a little more! Greenlight isn’t any place I’d go out of my way for, but if you are in the South End and looking for a quick lunch with quality ingredients, it’s a great option!

I go to this café everyday for the coffee and I love this place. The customer service is great and the coffee is fairly priced. Not as expensive as Starbucks.

your morning brews are mostly good(hello iced coffee). sandwiches sometimes good(braised chicken in ciabatta). salads sadly never(unfresh greens).

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewers. Greenlight is overpriced and the sandwiches, for the most part, are not that good. Some of the soups, however, are delicious. When Greenlight first opened, I was a big fan. I thought the sandwiches and baked goods were pretty good then, but after a couple months, things went downhill. The prices went up and the food became not-so-appetizing. The worst part is that the bagels are sometimes stale(ughhh). Do yourself a favor and go to Foodies or Francesca’s for a cheaper and tastier sandwich.

So much hate. To be honest, I haven’t gotten my own sandwich here, but I have tasted some of them and found no issue. The soups are yummy. The coffee is FANTASTIC and the do-it-yourself fixit bar has different types of milk, syrups and sugars. Kind of bugs me that the iced coffee is so much more $, but hey, ice is costly right? Ok, maybe not, but I want to love my Greenlight. They have Diet Coke and yogurt and fruit to make my afternoon better. And friendly staff to make me smile.

I like to have a cup of coffee after lunch. It helps with refreshing my mouth and brain, but it also helps with the digestion factor. So, now that my eyelid is caffeinated and twitching I thought I’d put that energy to use and review Greenlight. First, I eat here about 3 out of 5 days of the week. So homegirl knows her stuff. Secondly, I’m only reviewing the food. The customer service is pretty legit and the location is convenient. Where to start? Soups: This is the reason I go. They make pretty good soup. The Thai rice stuff, the watercress, the potato and leek, the duck with the beans stuff… it’s all really good… like pretty damn good. That’s pretty much where they get my two stars. Everything else sucks. Sandwiches: Over-priced and stale. The warm ones are gooey, greasy, and just gross. The refrigerated ones have no flavor and are awkward. Salads: I feel like a horse eating hay and ruffage whenever I get a Greenlight salad. Somehow they think their customers like eating bitter stems because every time I get one of their salads 90% of it is bitter, green stems. Prices: Too damn high. Anyway, they’re next to my office so I’ll continue to go there for the soup.

I can’t fathom why Greenlight has gotten such a bad rap. Greenlight is an offshoot of Gaslight restaurant in the lobby of 560 Harrison’s office building. It’s no more than a lunch cart, really, with sandwiches, pastries, coffee and drinks, but it’s a fantastic lunch option for those who work or live in the SOWA neighborhood. The food is straight out of Gaslight’s kitchen(which has a 4 star rating, mind you), but priced at 2⁄3 to ½ of what it is on Gaslight’s menu. I’d highly recommend the Cuban sandwich(priced $ 5 less than in the restaurant). Greenlight also has a monthly«name that sandwich» competition, where patrons can submit sandwich ideas. Each month they pick one idea and serve it all month long(this month was the«Ooh La La,» a bacon, tomato, brie and avocado sandwich on a fresh baguette). Mmm, mmm tasty!

This place is located in the lobby of 560 Harrison Ave. and is connected/related to Gaslight, but don’t get excited just yet. It’s mostly a convenience factor that brings people here since there are a lot of offices upstairs and in the nearby warehouses. The food is ok, but pricey. They try to pass off an organic, go green attitude, but I think it’s mostly for show and price inflation. The baked good are your best bet, specifically the lemon squares. They have bagels, muffins and coffee in the morning and for lunch you can choose from a limited number of salads, soups, sandwiches and an assortment of designer soft drinks. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to go here, but if your in the building it’s an OK choice. With so many other South End lunch options it’s not my first pick.
