Gentle Dental

Don't go to Gentle Dental on Newbury Street in Boston, MA. This company is set up to be a money making machine. They do not serve the customer! The dentists are over-booked, hurried, rude and unfriendly.

They don't want to answer your questions; only to give you an estimate for all the work they tell you you need. They won't provide you with any other material or data so you can get work done else where.

This may be true of all Gentle Dentals. I would not go to Gentle Dental again!

I love Gentle Dental. But words cannot do justice on how grateful I am for having Dr. Millen as my dentist. He is not just a dentist, he is THE dentist. It is not easy choosing a good doctor, and I’ve had my share of not so good ones in my lifetime.
Since my very first visit, he has been very honest, patient to describe each issue step by step, and very accommodating towards my insurance coverage and out of pocket expenses. Dr. Millen has done extensive work to my teeth, and that was not an easy task for my wallet. In light of my financial issues, he was amazing enough to go above and beyond doing additional work to me, complimentary! I mean who does that?
He’s just a few doors down from where I work, but even if I were to move back to Europe tomorrow, I would find a way and fly back and trust my teeth in his hands unconditionally.
Yes, he is that good.

DO NOT GO HERE! I had a retainer cemented to my bottom teeth back in high school, and the glue popped off so I needed it taken off. Simple, right? WRONG. Based on the good reviews I quickly made an appointment because I moved here recently and had not found a regular dentist yet. They took the liberty of telling me I had severe gum disease and they needed to deep clean my teeth after taking the retainer off. I thought this was strange because I have never had problems with my teeth, but I’m not the dentist here, so I went with it.
They told me I needed X-​Rays too, and that they were free. So I figured, why not. NOPE. Not free at all.
Left the office two hours later and the receptionist pointed at my face and asked if I needed to use the bathroom. I was confused but went anyway. Look in the mirror and I had blood ALL OVER MY FACE. Then was slapped with a $ 350 bill. Infuriating.
About a month later I visited the dentist I went to in high school who told me I was not even close to having gum disease. So I was forced into a service I didn’t even need. Awesome.
Fast forward two months and I get a bill saying a $ 120 balance was past due, and re late fee was $ 140. WHAT?! I never got a bill in the first place, and I’m charged more than what I «owed» in the first place for a late fee?!
I will never be going back here and do not recommend by any means.

I just moved to Boston about a year ago so I wasn’t very familiar with dentists or periodontists in the area. I went in to have a gum graft procedure done here last week and I could not be happier with the results. Not only do they do great work here, they’re also punctual and the staff is very friendly. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends in the area.

I normally hate going to the dentist but Gentle Dental is always a pleasant experience. I had switched my dentist a few times over the past year due to bad service and finally ended up here after a coworker’s referral. I am still amazed at how great they are. They help make me feel comfortable every time and are always aware of my insurance requirements so I am never overcharged. Their hours are awesome too. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have been a patient here for years. They always see me at my appointment time and never make me wait in the waiting room for very long at all. They’re very honest about work that I need done and their pricing is extremely competitive. Dr. Millen is quite simply the only person whom I’ll trust with my teeth!
