don’t understand why this place has such high rating. It’s no where near legit egg puffs First of all the egg puffs are not fresh, it was premade and just sitting on the counter waiting for customers. Second it tasted like the egg puff is made from pancake batter, it’s very doughy and rather flavorless… Which is definitely not how authentic egg puff should be.

I love these egg puffs for what it is. Sometimes I eat them as I take a stroll around Chinatown and sometimes I like to save it for when I get home. If you get the ones that are fresh off the skillet, you have to eat it right then and there or else they’ll get soggy and gross in the paper bag. I would’ve given them five stars but sometimes they like to close early. Their hours are until 6(not 7 as Unilocal says). But as I’ve said, sometimes they close early. I work a 9 – 5 down the street and when I tried to stop by this past Wednesday AND Thursday after work, they were already closed at around 5:30 both days. I guess my craving gotta wait.

Egg puffs :’) I had these once a long, long time ago when I visited Beijing and havw been reminiscing about them ever since. Finally, I’ve hit upon a small cart, tucked inside a shopping center right next to Avana sushi, that makes legit egg puffs. For $ 3, you get a sizable sheet of pillowy, eggy puffs that taste like mini waffles but with a better flavor — kind of like a less sweet yellow cake. They’re crispy and golden on the outside and squishy on the inside, and they’re such a joy to tear off one by one and eat. The puffs are warm, smell delicious and vanilla-y, and just make me really happy and nostalgic. It’s quite a big portion for a single person but perfect to share. The lady manning the cart only accepts cash, so come prepared! Authentic egg puffs are rare hereabouts so definitely give this place a try!

When visiting Boston for a day, it was really surprising to find a nice small shop that sold egg puffs. First of all, they’re very inexpensive; it cost $ 3 for a bag with what felt like a never-ending pit of egg puffs. Realistically, I’d estimate there were about 30 or so. For those of you who haven’t had egg puffs before, they’re a simple egg batter snack made with what’s very similar to a waffle iron. There isn’t supposed to be a mix of flavors or textures, but rather think of them as tiny pancakes but a little sweeter. As far as egg puffs go, I really enjoyed that these were so full on the inside and with sweet taste that wasn’t overwhelming. I’ve had some egg puffs that are really airy and hollow on the inside but these here are a step above the rest. Mind you: CASHONLY

I don’t know what the hype is. Very disappointed with this egg puffs. I’m not sure if mine were undercooked or just doughy. Too dense and not crispy. What I look for in egg puffs are the crispiness on the outside and fluffy eggy batter on the inside. New York Chinatown makes better egg puffs.

It tastes better than I remembered from a childhood snack place. The owner is very nice too.

Not as good as the ones in HK but it will satisfy your craving. Come earlier if you want fresh ones cos the lady that makes it probably leaves around 4pm? We had to settle for the ones that were sitting out although they were still a little warm

There is no other place that can make egg puffs like this sweet lady & sometimes her daughter? Basically like an asian pancake without the need of syrup but more addicting. Just go give it a try and you wont even make it back to your car without walking back for more.

I have no clue why it was so tasteless. I hoped that the lady had a bad day and the recipe went bad. Anyhow many egg waffles were already pre-made. She just grabs one for you. For $ 3.00, it is not worth it. In Chinatown, NYC, you can get two!

Great little stand in the food court that has a few little gems inside. This stand makes awesome pull apart waffles and are cheap and always warm. Great treat to pick up and walk around with. The lady there is very nice and the product is spot on

A common Chinese comfort snack, these egg puffs resemble American waffle bites or even similar to cake pops. Tucked away inside a building, it was hard for me to find this place because it’s located in a mini«mall plaza.» You have to open the front entrance to a foyer where you then open another door to get into the room in which Egg Puffs shares space with a Japanese eatery. There should be signs for«Egg Puffs» and the other restaurants outside the front entrance so keep an eye out for that. I was attracted by its resemblance to waffle bites. Can’t I just make these at home? Most likely but I had to see what the rave was about. I knew I had to have a taste of Asia, see what makes their version so special. For $ 3, you get about 30 ping pong sized(maybe smaller) egg puffs inside a brown paper bag(be careful grease can seep through!). Slightly seared on outside for slight crisp bite and super moist on the inside… it was like eating chips; popping one after another into my mouth because it was so addicting. Great to share with friends too. Another reviewer said that they used to charge $ 1.25 which now I come to think of it, sounds more reasonable. I also saw that it was raised to $ 2.75 but now it stands at $ 3. Glad to see business is booming but I feel like if they keep raising the $, it might steer away potential or past customers like me! Also if you can, try to get freshly cooked ones rather than the pre-made batch that has been sitting out. I had a pre-made one, still tasted warm and very delicious but I wonder what a fresh batch would compare.

Okay, maybe I’m being a bit generous with the rating(these egg puffs are really, really good, but they’re not blow-your-mind amazing), but considering that this is the only place outside of Hong Kong that I’ve been able to find *good* egg puffs, I have no qualms with handing out that final star. The puffs are warm, simultaneously soft and crunchy(in the good way), and just the right texture and taste. I almost feel like I’m back on the island whenever I come by here. Only downside is that you may have to deal with pushy/bossy old Asian ladies who cut you in line, but that’s an issue with clientele, not the shop itself.

It’s definitely a fun little snack, comparable to waffle bites, only softer. Slightly crispy on the edges and doughy on the inside. They aren’t overly sweet, so powdered sugar or with a chocolate dipping sauce would be really wonderful! It’s worth the $ 3 to try these egg puffs, but they are a tad over rated for a simple dessert.

Been here a couple of times. Good egg puffs for $ 3 a bag. One bag is super filling, so don’t overorder. Also they are in brown paper lunch bags, so the oil goes through. Don’t put this in your purse or bag! I like my egg puffs a little more crispy than how they are served here. It’s more chewy than I’d like, but that’s how most of my friends like theirs. Still, egg puffs are hard to find in the area and these are as cheap as they get.

Delicious egg puffs. Only 3 dollars for a fresh batch and they are more on the doughy side which I love. Definitely would go back! This place is cash only so make sure you bring Some or else you won’t be able to get any and you’ll be disappointed!

Open seven days a week now! So get your egg puff fix any day 11−7pm! Best egg puffs in this city. Actually, I don’t think there are any other ones you can find in Boston or Cambridge. You can’t beat this for the price and taste. Take a bag of fresh egg puffs, walk around the park, much on it, and it’s pretty much the best thing ever! The best ones are the still soft, but gooey and hot ones. Melt in your mouth amazingly good!

I rather like this inconspicuous little egg puff cart right in the middle of Avana Sushi. An older lady sits behind the cart reading Chinese newspapers, but she’s friendly enough when customers come in. I do wish the egg tarts were freshly made to order instead of premade and sitting heated in the pan, but that did little to dampen the flavor and texture of these convenient little desserts. One order of egg puffs: ( ) For $ 2.75, the portion is actually quite generous, especially compared to some other places. The exterior is slightly crunchy while the interior is soft and cakey. I agree with some of the other reviewers who mentioned that the inside would be perfect if it were just a little airier, but the cakey texture is filling and quite soft. It’s not overly sweet, and I enjoyed tearing apart the little ovals of egginess bit by bit. I wish there had been a good coffee shop nearby because these would have been perfect with black coffee or breakfast tea.
