A decent place to grab a quick and cheap bite to eat. Had a pastrami reuben and was quite pleased with it.

It’s pretty hard to mess up a sandwich, but the folks at D’angelo’s certainly do a good job at making a hot or cold mess out of meats, cheeses and condiments. My advice, stay away and wait until you find a place that can create a legit sandwich.

I can’t speak for their actual sandwiches, but I needed a snack and tried a chicken stir fry quesadilla from here and it was AWFUL. Barely any chicken or vegetables, it was basically a tortilla filled with some salty, gooey, semi-chickeny concoction. The thing was so soggy it was falling apart and I couldn’t finish eating it because the whole thing had soaked into the wrapping and I couldn’t separate the two. It was gross, just awful.

I know, it is a D’Angelo’s, but hear me out. The sandwiches are decent but not phenomenal. This is another place that scores high for the staff. They are always very friendly and willing to chat with you while they are making your sandwich. Don’t see a sandwich that suits your craving? Don’t be afraid to ask them for what you want, they are always happy to make you just what you want if they have the stuff to make it. I live in the area, so I find myself cutting through the food court a lot, and if they see me, I always get a wave, smile, or handshake. They also always manage to get my order just right, so I never get that«Oh, crap» moment when you unwrap your sandwich and realize they didn’t get it right.

Thank you, D’Angelo, for being there for me when I need a quick bite to eat in between classes. I’ve tried a bunch of sandwiches from this place, and while they’re not the best sandwiches around, they’re pretty decent. I like the Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich, which they still make even though Thanksgiving was months ago. :) I showed up one evening during a class break to find the manager all by his lonesome locking the cash register and getting ready to close up, all the while grooving to some Moroccan music on a portable CD player.(I had to resist the urge to pull a Shakira.) «Ah, my friend! How are you!» exclaimed Hammadi jovially. After some pleasant banter, it was clear that they were closed, but Hammadi said, «No worries my friend, I can make you a quick cold sandwich. What would you like?» Turkey with honey dijon please! And what a pleasant sandwich it was. It is such a shame that they don’t have a tip jar. This manager went out of his way to make me a sandwich just as he was closing up, and he made it himself at lightning speed. Hammadi, as long as you’re running this D’Angelo branch, I’ll continue to eat there. Om nom nom nom.

I don’t know why — maybe it’s because I consider anything besides ramen and cereal to be a treat — but this place is way, way better than it has the right to be. I dream of their Number 9(steak and cheese with pepper and onions), and today I experienced sandwich Nirvana in the form of their Bistro Turkey Club. You know how some chains will introduce a «bistro» or «deli-style» line of sandwiches, which really just means«less disgusting than our other offerings?» Wendy’s did this, for example, and all it meant was that it was a tiny bit less like fast food. No, this Bistro Turkey Club was insanely fresh and savory, probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Maybe it’s because I had low expectations since I used to confuse D’angelos with Subway, but after I got holographic roast beef once at Subway — yes, as in prismatic and speckled with shiny green only in certain light — I will never go back. Also, they give students a senior discount! For the win!

Don’t bother getting a sandwich larger than their small size because you’re basically just ordering more bread. They fill most of them like they’re a small(instead of whatever you ordered). The sandwiches themselves aren’t too bad, it’s the price that gets me. Chicken stir fry(ooh and don’t let it sit) is pretty good and even the reuben isn’t half bad when you’re craving it. But meh. I’d sooner go to Subway across the street. As for soup, their lobster bisque is pretty much a butter attack and can sometimes be lumpy. I will say that the staff is very nice. There’s one guy there that used to give me a student discount even though he knew I was just taking one continuing ed class last semester because of work. They’ve also gotten a lot faster and spot on. I remember a couple years ago, sandwiches would take 15 minutes and I’d somehow always end up with someone else’s sandwich. Of course I always ate it because I was running off to somewhere.
